Hopkins Bay Resort

It’s a great resort, staff is super friendly and the rooms are amazing! You have everything you need, private beach, bikes, restaurant and bar. I’ll definitely come back!!

I visited Hopkins Bay Resprt with my friend in mid Sept and we loved it. The resort is in a rural part of Belize, in a small, casual town. Very laidback and down to earth. Everyone at the resort is very kind and remember your name. They also booked our commuter flight and excursions so it made everything very simple. They even had a representative at the Belize City airport to get us to our next flight. They were very helpful and kind. The resort is cozy and nice. We stayed in a 2 bed villa and it was very spacious. We recommend sleep mask for the early morning sun. The pools were also great and there were plenty of umbrellas for shade. The Rhum Shack was fun and we like every drink and dish we ordered. You have to try the fry jacks! The restaurant is open air with no AC but they have fans and when the wind is blowing, it’s great. When it wind isn’t blowing, take your bug spray. We did the Cultural Experience at Palmento Grove and that was very unique. We kayaked there (about 2 min) then dressed in their customary clothes which was also helpful for the weather. It’s hot there with little breeze but they move fans for you. We also learned how to make Hadut and that was really fun and very yummy. We broke open coconuts, drank coconut water, and shaved the coconut. Lastly, we also learned to drum and that was cool although we weren’t any good. We also booked a golf cart and went into town for 2 hours. Many things werent open in the morning but we went to J&Js for baked chicken, stew beans, and coconut rice. We had a massage in our room that was really relaxing. They are typically in the spa but it’s open air so we chose our villa. Lastly, we booked the Snorkel Experience through the hotel. A van took us to a marina to board a commuter boat to Thatch Caye Resort, which is their sister hotel. From there, we got on a smaller boat and they gave us equipment. The boat was not large and didn’t have much shade. Because we were on with divers, they dropped the snorkelers off at a site for an hour and left for the dive site. So you are not with the boat for the whole trip. You leave your belongings and onpy take the equipment with you. We didn’t love not having the option to break and sit in the shade, but we saw several sharks, sting rays, large lobster, large crab, conch, lion fish, sea urchin, and more. The snorkeling was great but we got very burnt. After snorkeling, they take you back to Thatch Caye for a chicken tender lunch and to hang out for a couple hours. Definitely cool to see those fish, but we would have enjoyed it more if the boat had stayed with us and we had the chance to break and put more sunscreen on. Overall, we loved the laidback atmosphere of Hopkins Bay Reaort and the kindness of every staff person.
