After four days in San Ignacio, full of adventurous excursions, we came to this quiet beach town. It was perfect! The resort has a restaurant and a bar, you can use their kayaks and paddleboards, and they offer bikes. Ask about the kitchen hours because it is not open all day. It may be difficult to reach someone at the front desk... just know that. The walls are thin, so noisy neighbors could interrupt your relaxation. Walk into town for some great home cooked meals. Stop at Shondal's Magical Pastry Stop!! It's a small pink building on the road down from the resort. This a a great breakfast with the coffee you brew in your room - then sit out on the porch or in bed. Or get some later in the day for dessert. Relax with a drink in a hammock. This is a great little town with a local culture. I'm happy we stayed here instead of a Caye.

The Villa we stayed in for four days was extremely comfortable and the grounds were beautiful. Very peaceful and serene. Free bikes to ride into town and enjoy local sites and cuisine. Very enjoyable stay. The service and food at the Rhum Shack was excellent as were the Pina Colada's! Staff, except for front office, were as friendly and kind as could be. We left feeling like the Rhum Shack staff were friends!

Sleeping in a comfy, plush bed and waking to see the sun rise from either your bed or the deck feels luxurious. All units seem to be set up facing east so that customers can experience the sunrise. The property is well-kept and immaculately groomed with many activities available, particularly for families. The Rhum Shack also offers some solid breakfast choices. Yummy (rum) punch is served upon arrival. The only thing that turned me off was the attitude of the front desk employee. She was somewhat rude and not at all what you would expect of a resort of this caliber. Fortunately, the rest of the staff were very nice. The location is not central, so having a rental car is ideal.

We loved this place! So relaxing and peaceful. Spent a lot of time on the water fishing and kayaking. People were so friendly we felt at home there and will definitely return in the near future for another relaxing vacation!

We enjoyed four days down in the Hopkins area of Stann Creek. Having spent some heady days and nights in the Cayes this was the quieter r and r part of the trip. We arrived via Dangriga airport and were collected in time by the Hopkins driver. All good. The room was sizeable and well appointed. It was adjacent to a large condo ( maybe a rental or timeshare ) ...making it less "private" than our expectation. Resort is spacious but in my opinion making a bit of zest or zing. One has to go out of the resort to get atmosphere and buzz. NICE staff. Big thanks to Helene. We did three trips from here : Cockscomb nature hike and tube MAYAN ruins Night on the river... Am three good. All three away from Hopkins.
