We stayed here three nights. Weather was very mixed with heavy rain one day, sun the other and a mixture otherwise. The grounds were beautiful but soggy after the last day of rain. Going to our place in the evening required a flashlight to see the puddles well. But even in better weather a flashlight was good to have in the evenings. The front desk staff was friendly and efficient. The room was very spacious, clean, with a nice shower/bathroom and two balconies. The bed was big and very comfortable. We encountered one mosquito during the night, so don't sleep with open balcony doors. Air conditioning is quiet and effective. Problems were with the restaurant, called the Rhum shack. The food was generally good, although the morning coffee could have been better. But one of the wait staff tried to push us in the worst way to give her a tip (besides the service charge that is automatically included for everything on your restaurant and hotel bill). Another wait staff tried to make us order more drinks. Finally there is a maitre d' who can get a bit tedious with telling you how important good food and drink is for your vacation experience. The road from the village to the resort is pretty bad: big potholes and muddy places after the rain. The town is rather sleepy but has a few coffee shops and bar/restaurants, but nothing special. The beach is ok but not very deep. Snorkeling is not likely there because it has too much sand, no rocks. The hotel can arrange trips to small islands however. There is a mangrove lagoon not far away where one can see some wild life (we saw a crocodile). There are several resorts on the south end of town. They seem more affluent (and more expensive).

A really nice place to stay. We enjoyed the swimming pool. Drinks were delicious. Really nice setting. Due to weather conditions beach had alot of seaweed on it unfortunately. Very nice staff . Security personnel present. Rooms very clean. Fridge coffee maker. 5 gallon distilled water provided. Enjoyed our stay.

There was a large group of us that stayed at Hopkins in mid January, we had half the villas at the resort. The accommodations, beach, food, drinks were amazing!! What I loved best about resort was the customer service. Everybody was so helpful! We travel on a regular basis for business and personal, and have never experienced anybody as committed and dedicated to customer service as the Assistant Manager, Teo. I would definitely go back!!

This resort was awesome. From the moment we got there, the staff made us feel at home. They were very accommodating to our needs. We visited mid February and it was unseasonably wet but that doesn’t mean we didn’t enjoy plenty of amazing sunshine. Property. The resort itself beautiful and the rooms are as well. Belize is pretty humid but our room had 2 ceiling fans and an a/c unit which kept our room very comfortable. The coastline was a little murky because of the rain so we didn’t swim, but we did go kayaking and we lounged by the pool. There are plenty of lounge chairs and even some hammocks. Food. Our first night was Valentine’s day and the restaurant, the Rhum Shack, had a special menu that included lobster and it was GOOD. After that, we ate pretty much every meal there. The pineapple upside down pancakes were amazing and the Cajun shrimp lunch was my absolute favorite thing on the menu. The only thing I will say is, as an American, the portion sizes of the sides were smaller than I was used to. I think that just means that Americans are used to eating too much at one sitting. (If you plan on eating in town, go to “Ella’s Cool Spot” and to “Innie’s”. This is authentic Belizean food at its finest.) Staff. The staff was so darn nice! From the restaurant staff to the taxi drivers, everyone was very accommodating. They were knowledgeable about Hopkins, as most of them live there, and had great insight into things of interest around Belize. Tours. We did the tour to see the ruins in San Ignacio. This was the absolute highlight of our trip. Our tour guide, Jose (request him if you can!), was smart as hell and very personable. He knew the roads like the back of his hand and I was confident with him driving us back to the resort during a passing storm. Tips. •Fly into Dangriga airport from BZE and take a cab to the resort. It’ll be 45USD one way and 90USD roundtrip. •Buy your alcohol in town whenever possible. We got rum for 5USD and it was really good. •Bring bug repellant and a lot of it. •Try the shrimp tacos with onion pepper at the Drum Bar Overall, I’m very pleased with my stay here. Before I left, I was already thinking about when I would come to stay there again. If you’re looking for a place to stay that isn’t overrun by tourists, then this is the place for you. Actually no, go somewhere else because I want Hopkins Bay all to myself when I return 😊 -Kash

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hopkins Bay. Friendly staff, great activities, and very clean. We would definitely stay again. Beach is clean and quiet, some bugs but a simple application of bug spray in the morning and we had no issue.
