Just got back from a relaxing trip with a friend here. This place is wonderful, the staff are so gracious and accommodating and the rooms are top notch for Belize, with a great price to boot. Every room has an ocean view, and the units that are beach front are about 10 feet from the ocean water. It's incredible. Loved the free kayaks and bikes that you can check out. We ate at the Rhum Shack several times and the service was always wonderful and food was great, especially the jerk chicken and the pina coladas (which I believe they're famous for) I would suggest renting your own car and driving there, as their airport transfers are rather expensive as were their excursions, and you can do all of those things a lot cheaper if you just drive yourself to the location and book them yourself.

We loved our stay! Greeted with a complimentary drink, walked to our room and oh wow were we excited! We are back packing and got a killer deal online for the night and it was worth every penny. We had swimming pools, beach beds under palms, games and even kayaks!!!!!

I can't say enough great things about Hopkins Bay Resort. This place provided the perfect setting for my much-needed relaxing vacation. Had I wanted to be more active, they would gladly have hooked me up with lots of adventure. But I enjoyed the quiet, beautiful oasis of the resort, and the amazing, friendly staff that quickly became like family. From our seamless check-in to seamless check-out, I enjoyed every moment. First, the resort is the only decent one on the north side of Hopkins. There were more resorts on the southside, but they seemed on top of each other. HBR gave us more privacy and quiet. The resort itself is beautiful. The grounds are immaculate, and the pool and beach were just gorgeous. There are much-coveted rooms/buildings right on the beach, but ours just off it were perfect. We had a 30 second walk to the pool, the beach, and the Rhum Shack, which were all key to our vacation. In addition to tour planning and recommendations on anything from places to visit, where to eat, and where to shop, there were also bikes and kayaks available to borrow. We'd rented a car, but we saw lots of our fellow guests riding the bikes back and forth into the village, so that's a wonderful amenity. The room was wonderful. We had a King Room, so no kitchen, but you could get a kitchen with a queen room. Or you can combine rooms to fit your party. Great, flexible options are available. The bed was super comfortable, and the housekeepers kept it spotless and comfortable. There's a wonderful front porch with adirondack chairs where we spend LOTS of time relaxing, reading, and saying hi to all the staff and guests walking/riding by. The staff is exceptional...better than any I've experienced anywhere. Pedro told us when he gave us our tour (with yummy welcome drink) that we'd become family, and it was true. Theo and Alan are like the little brothers I never had, and they were on top of any tiny little detail we could have dreamed up. And our favorites at the Rhum Shack -- Patti, CeeCee, Michelle, and King -- made our meals and drinking fun and entertaining. These are people I've already invited to come visit me in New Orleans...and I sincerely hope they take me up on it! Such genuine, warm, and fun people. I miss them already! And have the Fish & Chips. A-MAZING! After a few difficult months, this was a vacation I needed badly. And HBR helped make it even better than I could have imagined. I love this place, and I can't wait to return!

My experience at the Hopkins Bay Resort was super positive, largely thanks to the amazing staff members who went above and beyond to make us feel like family. Michelle at the restaurant and Allen, the concierge, in particular were awesome, fun and super helpful around the resort. They really made our experience. (You guys rock!) The location of the resort is great – on the opposite side of the town from the rest of the resorts, which was actually really nice, because when we ventured into town, we met a lot of locals. The beach is lovely, the grounds well maintained, and all around a great ambience. The rooms were clean and lovely. We had a fantastic vacation. There were a few little attention-to-detail things that, although small, I think could be improved: -More warning about the dangers of sand flies (literally got eaten alive while we were there, despite all the bug spray we were wearing!) and having some after-bite medicine available a the front counter would have been great. -Shower curtains. Water spraying all over the tile floor every time we used the shower was a big pain. Slipping and sliding is only so much fun until you fall. -House-keeping: always came later in the afternoon, in that time of the day when a lot of people are taking a break from the sun in their rooms, which wasn't ideal. Coming a little earlier, like mid or late morning, I think would be best. -Rugs: there REALLY need to be like a welcome mat or rug at the entrance to the rooms to wipe off wet feet. Water + slick wood floors = not ideal.

Had a fabulous time with my family at this wonderful little piece of paradise in Belize. Excellent customer service. Beds were so comfortable, rooms were clean and the view from our room was breath taking.
