Hopkins Bay Resort

A beautiful location, with a peaceful atmosphere. The rooms were very spacious and clean with super showers and wash basins. The beds were clean and comfortable. It was expensive but we paid Christmas prices. There was some noise level from the room above, mostly caused by feet going up and down the stairs which was exacerbated by the cupboard in one bedroom acting as a sounding box. The service was good, all staff lovely to speak to. The Rhum shack served delicious food as did the Embers restaurant. The rooms were advertised as " Full Kitchen complete with Coffee-Maker, Cooking Utensils, Dishwasher, Microwave, Blender, Refrigerator, and Stove" There were lots of utensils but no cooking pans, the cupboard held 2 suucepan lids, 1 small frying pan, a truly awful chopping board and nothing else. I asked for a kettle to make tea and was given a very old large saucepan. A day later a very pleasant man called Walter called with a kettle, I gave him the unhygienic chopping board to take away. The fridge freezer and microwave were excellent. Not able to use the oven. We enjoyed our stay, ate out most days, the heavy rain was rather miserable towards the end of our stay, when most of the walkways were flooded and made it difficult to take our luggage to the car.

The location is gorgeous. Two pools plus the sea a stone’s throw away. The food at the Rhum Shack was good. The drinks - rum punch and (self-proclaimed world’s best) piña colada - are definitely the hands down favorites. King, Chavez and Veronica took great care of us at every meal. The pool area was quiet and there was no problem getting beach or pool chairs. Many other posts mention the bugs and need for spray. The staff at check-in tell you but how bad could it be? I’m telling you, heed all warnings and lather up. When you think you’re glistening with bug spray from head to toe, lather up some more. Our mistake for not doing this sooner, which made the last part of the trip uncomfortable with many bites and itching. Other post also talk about noise from neighbors above. How about the noise from the neighbors below? There’s really no way to get around voices carrying and hearing the banging of drawers, pots and pans. We had the misfortune of having a family with two small kids below us and we felt like we were in the playroom with them, all day. No matter where you stay, expect noise and bring earplugs. And the upstairs units have bathrooms with doors but one wall shared with the bedroom does not go all the way to the ceiling. There’s about a foot gap so remember this when turning on the bathroom light (the whole unit lights up) or thinking you have total sound privacy when you really don’t. We encountered heavy rain for nearly 2.5 days that put the path to our unit in over-ankle deep water as well as some of the other paths to the Rhum Shack. The staff was kind enough to bring us breakfast one morning which was much appreciated. Also pay attention to the entertainment schedule. One night there were drummers and no matter where you sat it was just too loud. We never ventured off property the entire time we were there so can’t comment on any excursions or in-town restaurants. There’s another restaurant, Embers, which is adjacent but not part of Hopkins Bay but can be accessed through a walking path on property.

Our family comes here yearly. The villas large, the staff is fabulous and the views are amazing! So many activities on and off the resort.

My time at Hopkins bay was spectacular! Amazing service and the ambience was great. Amazing people and the villa was beautiful and well equipped to house myself and my family. THEO was amazing and made sure we felt right at home🤗

As always everything was beauitful. Rooms were clean, food was good the beach was very nice and the pools were clean. Love going here they always make us feel like family.
