We visited during the slow season as Hurricane Irma was displaying her might. We were told that the property can get VERY busy during spring break and other popular times. With this being our honeymoon we definitely favored the quite and calm vibe. Hopkins Bay Resort was absolutely beautiful with stunning views and quick and easy access to the beach. The resort is focused on conservation so if you are used to hotels that offer a million bottles of shampoo, conditioner and scented lotions this is not the place for you. The amenities were perfect for us and we enjoyed touring the village using the complimentary bicycles that were available. I cannot stress how peaceful this location was- Everyone was extremely friendly and we felt incredibly safe in the village (unlike the much busier Belize City where people were not as friendly and borderline rude). At Hopkins village, we felt like family! One word of caution for Belize travel: Belize bank has issues with cards that have the chip, and it is impossible to take money out (this was finally pointed out to us by our tour guide who went out of his way to take us to a different bank that could assist us). So if you are venturing there I'd try and have cash ahead of time because we only saw the Belize bank in town, and the hotel wasn't equipped to break most of our bills. One thing that HBR does provide is the ability to charge everything to your room AND include tip! This was a huge help and we were provided with an invoice summarizing all of our purchases at the end vs. hoarding many many receipts. The food at the resort was simple but good (Breakfast was by FAR our favorite and the desserts as well). Since a lot of the dishes were pricey we would fill up on tacos and fell in LOVE with the local Marie Sharps hot sauce. Drinks were good but prices were steep. What was most costly were the excursions. We visited during slow season so we didn't have many options available and the hotel must have known that as well because prices were 2-3xs that of what you would pay at the actual excursion. What was perhaps the most amazing and memorable experience was spending time with King and Joe who were very welcoming and shared a lot about their history and culture. Joe was an invaluable resource, we were lucky to have him as our tour guide and he made our excursions unforgettable! If you ever get to request your tour guide DEFINITELY ask for Joe! He is so sweet, knowledgeable and friendly. We left Belize and are still in communication with him. He has become one of our greatest travel friends! <3 All in all a great stay- A little expensive so I would pre-plan. Also, a local told us that during slow season it is FAR better to just show up and request a room. You will save a TON of money. Booking in advance while comforting will definitely cost you a LOT more.

Very calm and quiet place. Beach view sunrise is amazing. Resort staff is very friendly. We felt like home. We enjoyed every moment of our stay. Villas are beautiful surrounded by coconut trees, palm trees, sea facing layout is excellent. We enjoyed kayaking and swimming in the pool. Thanks a lot for making our trip memorable.Especially Valena,Rina,Teo,Alex,Walter,Enrique,Eroll and other staff members.I would definitely recommend to my friends and family. We are sorry to cut short our stay due to hurricane Irma as our returning flight from Miami was cancelled.

Hopkins Bay Resort has the nicest, kindest staff I have come across and I have been to quite a few places, South Africa, Barcelona, Capri, Pompeii, Monaco, and 90% of the Caribbean Islands and Hopkins Bay Resort staff to me was top notch from giving rides down to the gift shop, to just all around kindness, checking in to see if everything was okay. Many thanks to Theo the assistant manager and CeCe in the the Rhum shack. Definitely would return, but only to stay longer

Our stay at Hopkin's Bay was great. The rooms were beautiful and clean and we woke up to a beachfront view of the sunrise daily. The restaurant food was a little pricey, but was indeed excellent. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating. They booked our day excursions without any problems. I would definitely recommend staying here. The only thing (which is not specific to the hotel but Belize in general) is that there is a lot of seaweed, so it was great that they had pools available for use as well. Also, they really do have the world's best pina colada!!
