I’m from DC and my sister is from CA. We took a time out from our busy lives to do a one nighter here. We enjoyed the 3.5 hr drive from DC out to Hot Springs, stopping at an antique store while fueling up. The Homestead made an impressive Christmas present for someone from CA. VA countryside came to life for her. We indulged on the breakfast but shied away from the very pricey spa treatments. The 10amfsily history is a MUST. It gives the hotel so much more depth. The tour was about 1.25hr long but worth the time spent.

We've been coming to the Homestead for at least 8 years. We love the property but this year several changes we were disappointed with. We've always had a microwave delivered to our room to warm up Dinner leftovers, reheating our coffee and zapping those really good classic donuts that Homestead home makes. We were told it was a safety issue but considering microwaves are offered in many properties around the States seems like a ridiculous answer. Also was really disappointed with our Restaurant Reservation at the Jefferson. Food was excellent but the GM made the decision of collar shirts this year with no indication when our reservation was made. As I watched people come in with so called collar shirts I was amused. I had a nice fleece shirt on but did not pass. I know this might seem trivial to some but it's the principle. GM, use some commonsense.

So many things to do in the area around Hot Springs. The resort itself has some unique features such as a hike along the thermal springs, soaking in the spa in the resort itself, golf, hiking, and many more. The Jefferson springs are now closed due to some structural issues which was one of my interests. Wonderful family and neighborly people in many of the restaurants such as Lindsay's Roost, the Country Cafe and the exquisite Waterwheel restaurant in Warm Springs just down the road. The Owners Club has a nice shuttle system and when there is snow, the roads are kept nicely cleared. Staff at the resort are top of the line and very helpful.

Our room was great! Clean, very large, very nice. The disappointing factor was that we requested a quiet room; that is, not located beside an elevator, ice machine or hospitality suite, and the hotel in every communication with us confirmed that that would be the case. We arrived at our room, and a hospitality suite was directly beside us which was very loud well beyond midnight.

fantastic accommodations and service, staff is very welcoming and accommodates varying guest needs. As in many hotels room service is overpriced. As in many hotels room service is overpriced. As in many hotels room service is overpriced.
