Our executive suite was in the garden wing - it had two broken window shades, tiny bathroom, horrible sofa bed mattress, broken lamp and no hot water the first night. The internet did not work. The variety of activities were great- staff at stables was outstanding.

We thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of the buildings and grounds and the activities available. We especially enjoyed the pools, lazy river and hot tub. I brought my teenage grandnieces who loved exploring the lovely grounds and finding the many comfortable spots to enjoy, relax, talk, read, play checkers and, of course, pose for selfies!

Visited the Homestead for a meeting with my wife. We have stayed at the property over ten times including with our kids. We love the property. This was the first visit since it became an Omni property and there is clearly a lack of effective management. There is poor execution in too many integral areas. Housekeeping is inconsistent. On one day our room was not made up until after 4 PM. Room service trays from adjoining rooms remained in the hallways for over 24 hours. One day it took 20 minutes to be seated for the buffet breakfast despite plenty of available seating. Wait staff for breakfast was not attentive to a diner's needs with infrequent coffee warm ups, leaving dirty dishes on the table and generally inattentive service. Too many parts of the property are in need of serious work.....paint, rotting wood on the front railing...right at the front of the hotel and tired and worn furnishings in guest rooms. Towels and wash clothes were thin and not in keeping with what should exist at a fine property. The staff is friendly but does not posses the sharpness that one expects at such a property. Some of the public spaces have been better maintained etc. but overall there are serious needs. At the time of checkout, the TV check out system was inoperable for many....despite receiving a letter under our door suggesting that as an efficient method to check out and avoid lines. Too many disconnects between what one expects and what occurs. We love The Homestead and I hope that effective management can be restored and resources allocated to bring the property back to a more stable condition. Candidly, despite our love for the property, I would not return for a while given the poor service and conditions. And that commentary is from a real fan.

If you appreciate history, this is an awesome destination! The property is beautiful and offers lots to do in all seasons. The town of Hot Springs is just out the back door and offers some cool places to eat, as well. The locals that work here make you feel like home. The Homestead has become one of our favorite places for this reason!

My wife and I enjoyed our 4 days at the Homestead. Jennifer was great helping us over the phone with our reservation, dinners, and activities. The canoe/kayak trip, led by Gussie and Matt, was great. We also did fly fishing with another Matt, who was a wonderful instructor; we had a great time, although it was a trifle expensive. We hiked twice: the Deerlick Trail and the North Trail, which we preferred because it was next to a brook much of the time. Suggestions: better signs -- sometimes it wasn't clear if we were to make a sharp or gradual turn; also: mileposts would be helpful to let hikers know how far they've gone/how far they have to go; benches would be a good idea, too. The spa was very enjoyable, as were our massages. The main pool outside the spa area was extremely uncomfortable, as it was very hot. I understand that you have young and old patrons, but there is no need whatsoever to have the pool so hot in the middle of the summer. Restaurants: we had the breakfast buffet twice in the main dining room, lunch twice at the Casino Restaurant, dinners twice in the main dining room, and dinner once at the Jefferson Restaurant. Main dining room: very good, attentive service, very good food. Same at Casino. Jefferson: while the food and the server (Coco) were very good, delivery of our entrees (steak au poivre) was unconscionably slow -- our entrees were delivered over an hour and a half after we ordered. Coco and the manager spoke with us and did their best to ameliorate the situation. Apparently there were delays for many patrons in the kitchen. We understand that sometimes this might happen, but it really left a bad taste in our mouth our last evening there. Another suggestion: more nighttime activities would be a good idea.
