Reviews for The Omni Homestead Resort

GO! Its worth it

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

The location is picturesque. The service was stellar in every way. Our favorite dinner was at Audubon. What a stunning room! Lovely piano played, service again superior, food was gorgeous, and so flavorful. The amuse bouche was a delight. The indoor pool is a must and the outdoor pool/hot tub were delightful. Enjoyed the yellow hiking trail.

Fun place, not 5 stars

There is a lot to love about the Omni Homestead, but also some things that are important to take note of before you go. I'll start out by what was wonderful - the staff. Everyone at this property is amazingly kind and knowledgable about the resort and its history. We took a history tour with a gentleman who was like a walking encyclopedia of the Homestead and it was the highlight of our entire trip. He knew so many fun facts and made the entire tour (about 1 hour) so much fun. The property itself is huge and walking around it is very relaxing. They also offer a birthday celebration each day at 2:50 to celebrate America's 250th, which includes cake, tea, and lemonade, and frequent trips out to the warm springs which are worth doing! Just note that they are not free and require an advanced reservation. We also loved the evening movie experience and seeing all the beautiful architecture at every turn. Now I'll share some things that really need work to take this to a 5-star experience. The Old Course is beautiful, but there are no concessions available (not throughout the course, or even at the end) and also no warning of this, so 18 holes in 90-degree heat becomes a bit of an Olympic experience with no access to water, let alone anything else. We were there before they opened their main pool so we ventured to the spa pool, where we grabbed two chairs (it was empty) and ordered food. No one stopped us or said anything until we had already settled in and they told us it was $75 per person. At that point we were already sitting down so we were paying regardless, but it seems really weird to not have any signage saying that it is paid only, especially when that was the only pool open. Service at restaurants is painfully slow, the rooms are pretty dated (ours had a ton of caked-on dust in the bathroom air vent), and the elevators in our wing (South) weren't working properly. Again, none of it was horrible, just not what I'd consider 5 stars.

Great venue for a birthday celebration! The staff excelled.

We loved our stay. The staff did everything to make my birthday celebration feel special. I was even serenaded by Kenroy in the Audubon dining room. The food was fantastic and we loved all the games available. The Warm Springs hot springs were a highlight but we would have loved access without paying a spa fee to the Homestead hot spring. Thank you for a fabulous stay!

Horrible charges and billing system ruined anything that was nice at the resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

I booked 4 rooms this past weekend. Beware this resort is nothing but a money grab. 3 days at this resort has cost my family of 8 over $11,500. With the resort holding over $20,000 on my credit card. I have spent hours with the resort and with my CC to get this fixed. They ruined my family's celebration of life! Make sure you triple check your receipts and charges. So not worth my money and time.

Good, not Great!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We stayed at the Omni Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia from March 29 to April 2, 2026. We were there for my daughters spring break. It is the first time we have been back to the Omni Homestead in 12 years. While still an amazing hotel with great visual appeal on the outside, there were aspects that were disappointing. First was our room, while comfortable, there really wasn't anywhere to sit other than on the bed, no sitting chairs or other furniture to sit on. The door to the room was really weird, at the bottom of the door it went from a normal gap between the door and the floor and as the bottom of the door went to the right toward the opening it angled upward leaving a gap that was pretty noticeable. See the photo I posted. Next was the light fixture in the bathroom, one of the light globes was not affixed properly and if not for the light bulb would have fallen off the light fixture (photo included). Finally, make sure to bring your own toiletries as the Homestead only provides small bottles, not nearly enough for a family of three (photo provided). Our room experience could have been better. Next is the food, we had dinner in the Audubon Room, which is the main dining room and we found the food to be sub-par, to the point I couldn't finish my entree. The food was bland with little flavor. We had a credit for the morning breakfast buffet and found the food to be adequate. The one issue is the unsupervised children getting food from the buffet. I watched a kid probably around 9, maybe 10 use the tongs to dish up a mountain of bacon only to realize he had taken too much, so he put bacon back in the serving pan using his bare hands. Staff should be posted at the various stations to ensure this doesn't happen but this is more on the parents than on the Homestead. That entire pan of bacon should have been removed and replaced with a fresh pan of bacon. I will say the food in the Jefferson's Taproom was tasty, I had the Sheppard's Pie for dinner one night and it was amazing, very flavorful and filling. We also had a very good lunch there on another day. One thing that was also disappointing was the access to the various dining venues. Some were seasonal and you would think that once Spring arrived, those seasonal venues would have been open but they weren't. Not sure what seasons the Homestead follows and when those seasonal venues actually open. We also had a nice meal in Woody's as well. When we originally booked we had planned to do our entire spring break at the Homestead but after seeing what was available for activities we opted to check out on Thursday 2 April, vice staying through the entire week. It was somewhat disappointing with what activities were available. The zipline, which is also seasonal was not yet open despite it being springtime. Not sure when they open or how the they are in service before they are seasonally closed again. We did do a hike with numerous waterfalls, which was nice and my wife and daughter did a horseback ride and we did the Falconry, which was really well done by the third party company. The guy who ran the Falconry activity was extremely knowledgeable and provided a great briefing on the history of Falconry. That was by far the highlight of the trip. Overall, it was a nice getaway but not something I would do again in the near future. While some aspects were very good, there were others that were a let down.

It's clear why The Homestead has such wonderful reputation and charm. That is evident when you check in at the front desk, where the whole experience starts. We will be back for many visits to come, and appreciate how well the staff is trained to make guests feel so welcome!

My family and I have been visiting The Homestead since about 1977. Our trip this year was without doubt the best. I believe the hotel grounds and facilities are in the best condition I have ever seen. We look forward to returning soon.

What a relaxing weekend, the stress just melts away as we are treated to the manners of yesterday. Great service.

This is a great place to go for a weekend getaway. Nestled in the mountains of Virginia, the home of Sam Snead, and they served the best trout in the restaurant.

Absolutely beautiful! We love to stay when all of the Christmas decorations are all around. Makes for a very special family holiday.

We won an auction for a trip to The Homestead in Hot Springs to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We are just back from our luxury vacation, and it was fabulous. Everyone at the resort was wonderful.

The hotel could not have been nicer and truly did everything possible to make our stay in November wonderful.

We visited The Homestead in July. It was excellent! The suite was absolutely beautiful and the breakfasts were outstanding.

My wife and I spent three wonderful days at The Homestead in Virginia. We enjoyed a beautiful balcony room overlooking the golf course, gourmet meals, a round of golf and even a horse-drawn carriage ride—with champagne—through beautiful forest. The staff was great from the moment we checked in.
