Unsanitary bathrooms 2 years in a row

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We came here last year and again in 2025 for my husbands work conference. I own a cleaning company so you bet I look at things upside down and all around. The toilets are never cleaned properly and today, as I went to take a relaxing bath, I noticed lots of mold in the tub, as well as a dirty toilet and minimally “wiped” tile. They definitely do not scrub anything. I am grossed out by the mold. $900 a night for this place, and mold.

Luxury in Name Only — A Miserable, Mismanaged Stay at the Omni Homestead

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

This was, without exaggeration, one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. We arrived at the Omni Homestead expecting a charming, historic resort. What we got was an overpriced, underperforming disaster. Even before the power outage, service was dismal: no housekeeping of any kind despite three separate requests and basic hospitality functions (like a front desk that answers the phone) were clearly on vacation themselves. No staff were pro-active about providing any hospitality; it was like visiting a cable company’s customer support number in person (staff always said what you wanted to hear, did nothing, blamed some other department, and never followed through). Then came the power outage — and any remaining semblance of hospitality completely vanished. No air conditioning. No lights. No food or water. No elevators. And no communication from management. Guests were left to fend for themselves in stifling rooms with no idea what was going on. There was no plan, no apology, and no attempt to make things right. In fact, the front desk staff was incredibly rude when people asked basic questions such as when power might be restored. To be clear: this wasn’t a quick outage or momentary inconvenience. It was a full-blown collapse of operations, and the management team simply disappeared. Meanwhile, the only staff who acted with professionalism and urgency were the bellhops — they deserve praise. Everyone else, especially those in charge, should be ashamed. Many guests — ourselves included — left early just to get away. It felt less like a luxury retreat and more like being stranded in a crumbling relic of what this place once was. The Omni Homestead trades on its history, but it’s clear the glory days are long gone. This is not a resort. This is a cautionary tale. Avoid at all costs.

IN LOVE with the Homestead!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

My husband and I have worked in the hotel industry for over 30years. This resort, BY FAR, has the most amenities and friendliest staff we've ever experienced. Their recent renovations made everything fresh & new, even though it is a very historic property. This is the perfect place for couples, groups of friends or families. There is truly something for everyone. We can't wait to return over the winter holidays to experience the resort in a totally different season!

Racist resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I live across the street from the Homestead resort in Midway Utah. I wanted to go to the pool over the Fourth of July celebration in order to do so I booked a room through Expedia because it was blacked out on the Homestead for day passes. I went and I was accused of trespassing. I was arrested. I was put in jail and I was held for 12 hours. They cuffed me and put a bag on my head. I would never go there. They are a racist heap of humankind that does not deserve to have anybody attend their racist

Beautiful Resort - Costly Price Tag

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The resort is beautiful and there were plenty of activities for my children to enjoy. However, with the rates I paid for the room, I never imagined how much the Omni would nickel and dime me for all the extras. Food, even with the kids eat free or 50% off promotion, cost me almost $100 each time I sat down. Want a drink - $42 after tax and tip for two 12 ounce drinks. Buffet breakfast for $40 an adult is theft. $39 plus tax per night for me to self park my own car and walk to the resort with my luggage is outrageous. Two bottled soda's, two bottled juices, and two packs of M&M's from the Market was nearly $30. I ended up going to the local store to purchase snacks to avoid going broke. For the resort stay price I paid and then to have to pay all those extras is a shame. Additionally, the public bathrooms were often out of soap, the floors were dirty, soda machines didn't work to get drinks in the Picnic Pavilion, and the beds were hard as a rock. There were not enough chairs at the pool for guests. A chair was broken and a worker took it away, but came back and said they were out of chairs, so I was left standing at the pool while my kids swam. Pool towels - bring your own as they ran out several times even when the pools were busy. Want a tube for the lazy river, bring your own as they only have what appeared to be 20-25 rafts. I know bugs happen outside, but the resort has an overwhelming amount of bugs that swarm you outside. I understand the resort attracts people with various lifestyles and incomes, but I never imagined the costs I would endure by visiting. There were many other guests that were complaining about the outrageous costs of visiting. This will likely be my one and only visit to the resort because of how outrageous the costs were.

What a relaxing weekend, the stress just melts away as we are treated to the manners of yesterday. Great service.

This is a great place to go for a weekend getaway. Nestled in the mountains of Virginia, the home of Sam Snead, and they served the best trout in the restaurant.

It's clear why The Homestead has such wonderful reputation and charm. That is evident when you check in at the front desk, where the whole experience starts. We will be back for many visits to come, and appreciate how well the staff is trained to make guests feel so welcome!

My family and I have been visiting The Homestead since about 1977. Our trip this year was without doubt the best. I believe the hotel grounds and facilities are in the best condition I have ever seen. We look forward to returning soon.

Absolutely beautiful! We love to stay when all of the Christmas decorations are all around. Makes for a very special family holiday.

We won an auction for a trip to The Homestead in Hot Springs to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We are just back from our luxury vacation, and it was fabulous. Everyone at the resort was wonderful.

The hotel could not have been nicer and truly did everything possible to make our stay in November wonderful.

We visited The Homestead in July. It was excellent! The suite was absolutely beautiful and the breakfasts were outstanding.

My wife and I spent three wonderful days at The Homestead in Virginia. We enjoyed a beautiful balcony room overlooking the golf course, gourmet meals, a round of golf and even a horse-drawn carriage ride—with champagne—through beautiful forest. The staff was great from the moment we checked in.
