Hotel Granduca Houston

Unfortunately I have to concur with those here who have had a bad experience at this hotel. Downstairs is lovely, very atmospheric and perfect if you want to have a meal or drink outdoors. It really has a nice vibe. Also the food is good! The servers are very kind as are the other people who work in the hotel. However the Gran Duca is very very poorly run. The rooms are cold and outdated with often nothing on a wall and no cushions on the sofas. The lighting is dreadful! Extremely bright with no rheostat for evening. And the bedside lamps have poor light for reading. Worst of all is the disarray. I had room service orders coming extremely late or not at all. Requests for not using certain heavy smelling cleaning products were ignored. The tv didn’t work. A lovely engineer came and fixed it however and brought me a Roku box to boot. Be prepared to spend a large amount of time with all these nice young people who will try to make your stay acceptable. I just think the communication behind the scenes must be awful. It’s a pity as the hotel has potential. But the rooms are terrible albeit quiet and the service is from another planet. I hope by writing this the hotel will get it together but in a 4 day stay I’ve thus far had about 15 snafus!

We needed to come to Houston for a visit with friends as well as a class in the Galleria area and stumbled upon the Hotel Granduca. So glad that we did. It is in a great location with plenty of amenities. While it is in Uptown Park, which can be a busy area, we found the entire property to be an oasis hidden away from the noise.

Extremely dissatisfied. At breakfast I had to listen to two wait staff loudly talk about - death. One bartender recounted how he saw some die in a car crash and then tell the lady in the car crash how her friend had died. The other bartender then spoke about how someone died and he saw a body on the road like it was a cartoon. Guys - have your private conversation quietly and not across a nice Saturday morning when people are trying to have breakfast. Twice on one day I return to my room to find the door to my room left open. Once by Housekeeping and then by whoever else had gone into my room. Absolutely absurd and not fitting a 'Leading Hotel of the World' - what a joke.

I had a great stay at Hotel Granduca. It is located in a highly developed area with a quiet and green parking lot. Everything is available to make families with kids have full fun. Thanks to the hotel staff for their professionalism, friendly communication, and for making the entire stay joyful.

Great stay for a full 20 nights. Staff excellent, room huge and extremely quiet and would certainly stay again. Special thanks to Alba, Martha, Ethan and Abel for looking after me during my stay.
