Reviews for Hotel Granduca Houston

beware of hidden fees

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Hidden self parking fees of $29 p[us tax a day is outrageous. Parking fees never mentioned in making reservations, checking in, or checking out with a printed invoice. hours later received an email with a new receipt showing parking fees, Beware of their hidden fees. Recommend staying elsewhere for the price

Nice site, well located

We were advised to stay at this hotel as it was pretty central to an event we attended. The hotel itself is fine - a bit of a strange concept in the middle of uptown Houston with a great pool area. Rooms are well sized but - as with other comments - you could land up overlooking garbage dumpsters. One problem experienced however was housekeeping. The rooms were not service until late in the day so if you go out early and come back for a rest, it may not be possible. Evening turndown was also a but hit and miss - not all trash cans cleared etc. I dont think it fits the requirements of Leading Hotels of the World but all in all a pleasant stay and would stay here again

The most beautiful hotel in Houston

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

I believe this to be the most beautiful hotel in Houston. The suites are huge and the staff is extremely attentive. The Hotel prides itself on its customer service, and it shows. The Granduca is my favorite place to stay when I visit Houston or Austin.

Tired and the staff needs training

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 months ago

I have stayed here before and thought I would try it again. The rooms are large, which is nice, but the decor and quality are just not up to par with the way the hotel positions itself. I had a very unpleasant experience at the hands of one of the front desk members. I won't describe it, but I left the hotel feeling publicly humiliated and shocked that any front line employee, in an ostensibly upper end hotel, could have acted that way. It is telling that there is no general manager name or contact info on the hotel website. I filled out a form on the site asking for a callback - nothing. I LinkedIn to someone listed as Guest Experience Manager, but got no reply. After a couple of weeks I repeated the message to the RVP of Guest Operations again on LinkedIn. Two more weeks - no reply .... Corporate culture is set from the top down. In my opinion, this hotel is not in the same class as some others in Houston.

Almost 5 stars

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

Almost perfect, except for one thing. First, gorgeous hotel and staff. Huge rooms, well kept. And they are stocked full of amenities. Only reason I gave it "very good" instead of "excellent" was because the rooms don't have deadbolts on the doors. Meaning, the only extra security is just the little flips metal hotel locks. Quite surprised that a five star hotel wouldn't have deadbolts in the doors. Otherwise, perfect. But an important aspect for safety that's missing
