Sign up to be a ZIP member! It pays off! Upon arrival we were upgraded because it was my boyfriend's birthday! Then, amazing Katherine arranged for a cake and bottle of chardonnay to be delivered to our room! Free of charge!! Katherine and the staff truly makes you feel like a VIP! After some consideration, we upped the ante to stay at the Zaza while on a college tour [walking distance to Rice University]. Definitely the nicest place in the area, but know that there is nothing else in the area [aside from museums and park]. Not a place to buy a bottle of water, cup of coffee, sunscreen...within a short walk. It IS near the light rail, which is great. [We took it down the the Rodeo...very easy]. That said, the hotel is quite stylish, similar to a [may I say?] Kimpton. Lots of modern art and quirky touches. The kind of lobby that begs to be "hung out" in. The restaurant serves a delicious, though pricey, breakfast. We understood that it rocks at night, too. There is a spa [didnt try] and a great pool with phone-in service [slow]. Pool features areas to get away from the sun, a nice touch. I understand that there are fantastic suites, all themed. We needed two queen beds, so we had a standard room and it was dark. The halls were dark. Kind of unexpected, but not in a good way. They put out coffee service in the hallway [each floor, I expect], also a nice touch. We experienced a problem while there, but the manager, Mary, went above and beyond to make sure that we enjoyed our stay. Many thanks, Mary. I don't expect to return to Houston in the foreseeable future, but, if I do, it will be the Zaza once again.

As always Kat took care of us at ZaZa. We always feel like it's our home away from home. Big Mike is incredible as well as he drops us off at local venues in the "Long Horn Limo". All in all the entire staff are great and very professional. Rooms always clean and a hats off to the coffee lady that ensures the coffee bars on each floor are kept full and clean!

Stayed at this hotel for a business conference. Honestly everything about the property was really nice except for one very bad experience. Before leaving that evening for an event, we met at the bar for a drink. I saw a bottle of a Texas bourbon that I really enjoy, and had two single shot drinks. Expecting to pay $15 or so a drink, you can imagine my surprise when I got a $100 bill. The bar maid failed to mention that was a special edition bottle at $50 a shot. You would think they would mention that. No problem, paid my bill and the next morning politely met with the manager and told him what had happened. I certainly had some culpability since I failed to ask the price, but at the same time there was an obligation on their part to tell me it was $50 a drink. He said he would met with the GM and get back to me. When I went up to get my bags to return home, there was an envelope under my door, with a $50 gift certificate to the restaurant and a $25 voucher for other hotel services. They knew I was checking out and felt this was a deliberate action. I have stayed in several ZaZa's with good experiences, it is just a shame that I now have that taste in my mouth. All they had to do was split the bill and I would have been more than satisfied. Just watch out and get pricing if you go to the bar.

Divino Suite. Big, quiet room. Comfortable bedding. good shower. Very nice restaurant The Monarch. Great lobby decor. Adjacent to Museum of Fine Arts. Has a pool and really nice looking spa, but I didn't use it. Friendly and helpful staff. We would stay here again if we came to Houston. VERY good value
