This is a great hotel. Staff are helpful and friendly especially Katherine at the reception and Mel, the Bellman. I really like the rooms that overlook the Mecom Fountain and Hermann Park. I enjoy having breakfast poolside after a morning run in the park.

I travel to Houston quite often and I always choose Zaza hotel for my stay. From this hotel, I can easily walk to Rice university (or using big black and impressive SUV of the hotel with a cow skull in front of the car). I can also easily walk to the Metro train station and go round the city. The customer service is great with exceptional staffs. I got newspaper every morning and Chocolate with good night cards every evening, before going to sleep. Check in and check out process is fast and convenience. Sure will come back, Zaza, my favorite hotel.

We stayed at hotel ZaZa last weekend and we were disappointed. We checked in at 4pm and our room was not ready. We were not able to get a clear answer as to when it would be ready. They put us in another room and the front desk assured us it was the same size room and the same bed. When we got to the replacement room, it was not a king bed which we had reserved. The room was tiny and it was impossible to get into the VERY VERY small bathroom. We called the front desk and a good manager named Jade found us our original room. By now, we were quite weary of lugging our bags around. The room was a king as promised and significantly larger than the replacement room which was supposed to be the same size. It had a bit of a funky/mildew odor. We were less than thrilled. However, Jade again came to the rescue. We accidentally left an item in the room when we checked out and she rescued it for us. Thank you Jade.

Hotel Zaza tries hard to be a chic and hip hotel in today's hyper competitive boutique market. The hotel is located in the museum district in Houston. The pool is the focal point and the major attraction. We were there for an event. There were two major events at the hotel during the weekend and the hotel was extremely busy and a bit challenged due to the activity. The rooms, although adequately sized, need work and the layout is somewhat odd. Our room had a great balcony but strangely had two showers and a tiny, single sink. The lighting is very dim and the hotel room needed more mirrors in order for guests to to get ready. We only had a single mirror in the small bathroom. Coffee and hot water are available on each floor each morning. It's a nice feature. It would be a home run if almond or soy milk was offered as well instead of just regular milk which limits the ability to take coffee from the floor. For those with dietary challenges, there is no choice except the restaurant takeout each morning for quick coffee. The staff at the restaurant in the morning is very nice and responsive. We had a small problem at check in with out reservation and Jade Cruz quickly and apologetically rectified the problem and did her best to accommodate despite 2 major events at the hotel. Bertha Lopez in the banquet department was present for two events and went out of her way each time to make sure we were accommodated including removing a safety pin from her own clothing to assist with one of the guests wardrobe problem. This was of great assistance and he had a wonderful attitude. Things like that make a great impression on guests and can positively change one's entire stay. The exercise room is adequate with a few machines, some free weights and up to date treadmills and bikes. Bottled water would be a nice touch instead of just cups of tap water. The valet parking is very busy and congested. It takes a while to get in and out during peak times.
