Great solid hotel

Solid service from a clearly long established hotel . All staff extremely helpful and friendly . We are on a road trip around SW Mexico ( from Scotland ) . Delighted to have booked here for the night. Room 80 was great . Dinner lovely in the restaurant , beautifully presented and high quality . We would stay longer were it not for shortage of time . Wedding taking place , lovely to watch and not a disturbance at all as it was small wedding . .. beach stunning.. note the pool, despite being big , is not deep as clearly a kids one .. .. Very glad we stumbled upon here .. a lovely experience overall

Paradise

The resort was beautiful. The staff were all very friendly and remembered our names. Our family really enjoyed all the board games available to play at the bar.

Great first stop

We stayed for only 2 nights, after having first arrived and wanted to get our bearings. The staff were wonderful and grounds immaculate. Food and drink pricing was high. The personal pools need some work - missing tiles and poor circulation. Would stay again!

Unfortunate Choice

First of all, to clarify - we stayed in the hotel part of this property, and not in the condo. Pros: This is a beautiful location - our view was gorgeous, and the grounds are well maintained and lovely. The beach area has an abundance of umbrellas and palapas, and the biggest fluffiest towels ever. Our check-in was trouble-free, and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Con: During our 10 day stay, we were advised to stay out of the ocean (red flags) as the waves were strong and dangerous. Con: Expensive restaurant - we chose to eat off site, as the prices were ridiculous at the restaurant (eg. $32 CDN for a hamburger) Con: There were maintenance issues in our room - the A/C needed repair so our first night was very hot. It was fixed, but continued to make loud sqealing noises throughout our nights, constantly interrupting our sleep. The fridge needed to be replaced. The door lock on the patio needed repairs. Although these repairs were attended to, it was annoying. Con: There was no coffee maker in our room. I don't know if this is standard in Huatulco, but we didn't appreciate having to go downtown if we wanted economically priced coffee. Con: The pool is large and clean, but only about waist deep. Con: The resort is unfortunately situated on a steep incline, so everywhere we went, we navigated stairs. Lots of them. Most often, they were unevenly spaced or curved, and the railings were too short or far away to be useful. As an example, from our room to the lobby or to the pool, we had 59 vertical steps up or down, in addition to ramps and sidewalks. That's equivalent to four flights of stairs every time we left our room. Fortunately, we didn't have strollers or walkers. But for anyone with mobility issues or bad knees, this is a killer. We won't be choosing this resort again.

So much potential to be great but falls flat on practical essentials

Starting with the good the beach, view, pool and staff are great we loved the plunge pool off our room, the resort is very clean and they had great wifi. Food/drinks are very overpriced, good but $23 Canadian for a Mojito is insane, breakfast for 4 people was $125 Canadian with 2 kids under 10 no alcohol those are some pricey cornflakes, they would be busier if they adjusted prices there is no coffee/tea refilled in the room only 2 espresso pods and 2 small bottles of water anything more we had to pay for over a 12 day stay! No facecloths and the towels were pretty worn, I would recommend they find a way to reduce prices to have tourists stay and spend onsite it’s dead in the bars and restaurants everyone I spoke to eats and drinks offsite or buys groceries to keep in the room especially if you are a family even if there was a breakfast plan you could opt in, they just really need more finer little touches and it would get better reviews i feels like they are being cheap in the wrong areas, I care less about modern esthetics than practical
