Best service and best amenities! We missed social hour- amazed they have free unlimited beer and wine drinks 5-6! Free yoga class at n Sundays and a beautiful courtyard— all within 4 minute walk to the beach! Thank you Madi for such a smooth check in and for the generous accommodations!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our Favorite Place to Stay in Huntington Beach! We come to Shorebreak often, and it never disappoints! It has everything we could possibly want or need. The upscale beachy vibe, the amazing smell when you walk in, the 10/10 views, beautiful rooms, incredible food, and the best staff. Whether it’s a family getaway, a romantic trip for two, or traveling with our pup, Shorebreak checks every box! A special shout-out to Arturo at the front desk for going above and beyond with customer service. When we needed to extend our stay, he truly worked his magic and made it happen. He was amazing, and that kind of personal attention is what makes a great hotel experience exceptional. We will keep coming back! Shorebreak is our go-to in Huntington Beach, and we couldn’t recommend it more.

As an IHG Platinum Elite member, I chose the Kimpton Shorebreak to celebrate our anniversary, expecting the high standard of warm hospitality Kimpton is known for. Instead, a series of communication breakdowns, rigid service, and a total absence of basic recognition disrupted our plans and left us feeling completely unvalued as guests. Prior to arrival, we texted the property to ask about early check-in. We were instructed to head to the lobby upon arrival, which naturally signaled our room was likely ready. We immediately adjusted our schedule and drove straight to the hotel. Upon arrival, we were told the room wasn’t ready after all. When I inquired about potential Platinum Elite upgrades that might be available to get us into a room sooner, I was flatly told nothing was available. I then asked if parking could be waived to offset the inconvenience of driving over based on their text instruction—again, a firm no. We were offered a late checkout and told we’d receive a text when the room was ready, so we left to find another way to pass the time. Just 15 minutes after driving away and ending up in Newport, we received a text that our room was ready. While we ultimately got into the room about 45 minutes before standard check-in, the handling of the situation highlighted a major operational disconnect and a lack of proactive service. Had the front desk agent simply checked with housekeeping or verified the room status while we were standing in the lobby, they would have seen it was minutes away from completion. We could have comfortably waited in the lounge instead of being sent away and forced to double back. To make matters worse, throughout the entire interaction and subsequent check-in, there was zero acknowledgment of our anniversary, no apology for the inconvenience, and no mention of a welcome amenity usually offered for Platinum Elite members at other IHG properties. We also came down about 3 minutes before Social Hour ended to have a drink and were told we had about “30 seconds” to decide what we wanted. I get that it was the end of the Social Hour but it could have been handled more tactfully. The issue isn't just about the handling of early check-in availability. It’s about minimum attentiveness, basic guest empathy, and showing even a bit of interest in demonstrating “hospitality” in a human to human interaction. Dismissing a guest on a special occasion without checking room status or offering basic customer service reflects a concerning lack of investment in the guest experience. I hope IHG corporate and Shorebreak management review their front desk training and guest interaction standards.
