Kimpton Shorebreak Hotel

Carly at check in was amazing! The experience from beginning to end was fantastic. Super hospitality and a room with a view!!! What else could a guest ask for!

This review focuses on how the hotel handled a cancellation and refund. We had reserved a stay for Christmas Eve 2025, which would have been our first visit, and we were especially excited that we could bring our dog along. Although we were already in town for the holidays, bad weather prompted us to drive straight home instead of staying overnight. On 12/23, I couldn’t cancel online, so I called the hotel for assistance. I had used a Chase free night certificate for the booking, and the agent assured me it would be reinstated if I canceled. While the certificate was returned, I was never told that my credit card would still be charged for the night. If I had known that, I would have chosen to stay, especially since the hotel had kindly upgraded us to a suite that I was really looking forward to. I believe most people would have made the same choice. At no point did the agent mention that I would be billed after canceling. Four days later, I saw a charge on my credit card. When I contacted the hotel, both the front desk staff and the manager informed me that they would not issue a refund. Due to the lack of clear communication and the way this situation was handled, I felt compelled to leave this negative review.

We had a great stay at the Kimpton Seashore, and the service really stood out. From check-in onward, the front desk team and texting service were super responsive and helpful with anything we needed. It made the whole stay feel easy and stress-free. The amenities were excellent, and we really enjoyed the food. Breakfast was a highlight—Kyle was fantastic and went out of his way to accommodate requests and take great care of guests. The coffee was also very good, which we appreciated. Valet was quick and convenient, and only a few dollars more than self-parking. The in-and-out privilege made it completely worth it. The location is also very convenient with easy access to PCH, which made getting around simple. We also appreciated the IHG recognition. If you’re a Diamond Elite member, definitely use the breakfast benefit—it’s a great perk and adds real value. Overall, a really enjoyable stay with great service and a convenient location. We’d absolutely stay here again and would recommend it without hesitation.

My wife and I have been to the Shorebreak a number of times now with our daughters and it is a great place to bring kids and teens. You are right on the water and it is a family friendly hotel for sure. This is the 1st trip that we have come as a couple and it is still an amazing experience. Thank you to Anna and Jess for going the extra mile for us, our room was nice and clean but didn’t get much sun. We asked if they had another room that might be more to our liking and were able to accommodate us and had us moved in less than an hour. Thank you so much Anna and Jess!

Amazing location, right where you want to be, so you don't have to drive anywhere. Staff is exceptional for the hotel and restaurant. The whole place has a very fun athmosphere, casual and feels comfortable and very Cali. Easy parking in the same building, (not cheap, but very convenient). I have been here twice, and would definitely come back again.
