The hotel is inside the park, so we could walk to the falls in the morning and evening without other tourists, which is a great advantage. The room was large, clean, well equipped, with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was fabulous, outside next to the pool. We also enjoyed the restaurant there. Service was excellent. The hotel is not cheap, but really special and luxurious, we thought it was well worth it. The main improvement opportunity is the concierge service. We booked a couple of tours and pick up from the airport. Communication before our arrival was cumbersome and on one of our tours they forgot to order our food, so we had to wait almost an hour before we could start.

The crew made my experience even better! Beside the hotel being excellent and the Cataratas being so close made my sleep better.

We stayed for 4 nights at the Belmond Hotel das Cataratas, and the location is absolutely stunning. The real magic is being inside the national park, so you can experience the Iguazu falls in the early morning and evening, before and after the crowds arrive. It feels incredibly special. The hotel is beautiful, with a traditional colonial style in pink and white. The rooms themselves are nothing particularly special, but we were lucky enough to have one overlooking the falls, which made up for it. We chose to have dinner at the buffet restaurant each evening, which offered a great selection and suited us perfectly. Breakfast was also a very good buffet with plenty of choice. It was too cold for us to use the swimming pool, but it looked lovely. The gym is small, but I was always able to use the machines as it was rarely busy. You can also borrow their pink bikes for an easy jungle trail. There was a lovely atmosphere at the bar in the evenings, with live jazz-style music and good cocktails. They also serve complimentary Prosecco at sunset each evening, which is a lovely touch. But, above all, the location is what makes this hotel so extraordinary. Within a 15-minute walk, you have some of the most spectacular viewpoints of the falls almost entirely to yourself, as well as easy access to the Brazilian-side viewing platform. Walking towards the falls with a glass of Prosecco as the sun sets is an experience I will never forget.

You can enjoy the fantastical waterfall in the morning. While some facilities are old, such as the inability to flush toilet paper, the service is impeccable.

We stayed at Hotel Cataratas at the end of our 17 days in Brazil. A perfect ending. Our room was charming and comfortable, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel neglected to make arrangements for our transport from the airport (which was included in our LL package), but they made up for the error many times over during our stay, including a complementary guide when we visited the Iguassu Falls on the Argentina side. The location of the hotel also provides access to the viewing trails for the falls during hours when the park is closed to other tourist. A real bonus that is not available to those staying in the hotel in the Argentinian park. Next time I stay at Hotel Cataratas I'll coordinate my trip with a full moon!
