A little bit of paradise

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

From start to finish we were made to feel very special. We arrived 4 hours before scheduled check in. Not a problem, a room was available very quickly. Our room was divine, very comfortable bed and very effective black out cutysibs. Nice touches like havianas flip flops, free mini bar and insect repellent spray. Great free guided tour of the falls at 7.30 (before park opens to the public). Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. Didn’t have time to use the pool but it liked very welcoming. It’s not cheap but it’s a must treat if you want to make your trip memorable

Breakfast is the worst I've experienced

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

No one serves you for coffee or order till reach out to reception, tables nearby were ordered, served and even partially cleaned. And it's not even busy time, less than half tables were seated.

Iquazu Falls location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

This hotel is just superb in every sense. The quality of its facilities and grounds are most impressive. Service and attention to detail from reception, throughout the stay and on departure were absolutely first class. The hotel in inside the national park. You are met at the entrance to the national park and there is a shuttle to the hotel. Everything then just flows. It is an incredible experience from the get go! It is certainly a 5 star hotel in every respect. It is expensive but its location (literally across the road from the Brazilian side of the falls), the quality of its facilities and the superb service and attention to every detail make this an absolute essential location to stay when visiting Iquazu Falls from the Brazilian side.

One of the best located hotels in the world with flawless service.

I totally understand that this is an expensive place to say and what is affordable to me may not be affordable to others. Just like what is affordable to Bezos is not affordable to me. But if you can afford to stay here, then book it right now. No second thoughts. The location is truly unbeatable. as mentioned here numerous times. I know the Brazilian side has less trails and not so many waterfalls as the Argentine side has , but walking on the trail early in the morning or late in the evening with no one else to trouble you other than the falls is truly magical. I felt the raw power was actually more palpable from an eye level from the Brazilian side than the Argentine side. We stayed for two nights, I could have easily stayed for a few more days as I did not have enough time to explore the jungle. Service is flawless right from the word go. I contacted them to organise a shuttle from airport straight to the hotel and return to avoid the hassle of transferring bags from a taxi to the hotel bus and save time and it worked seamlessly both ways. Well, one can say that is expected from a good hotel. What's the big deal. Yes of course. My sister has major mobility issues and struggles with steps/distance so we had booked a room for her closer to the reception at ground floor and rest of us were booked at Deluxe rooms. We were welcomed by a nice gentleman called Mr. Sanel Charlotin at the reception. When he realised that we were all one party he immediately offered to upgrade my sister's room close to our rooms. I understand that it was low season and may not be possible in high season but I did appreciate his gesture hugely as it was totally discretionary. What impressed me even more is that originally my sister was upgraded to a room next to us on the first floor. There was no lift and as soon as Sanel saw my sister hobbling along he made further calls to find a room in the same wing on the ground floor, close to our room. Very sympathetic gesture from Sanel. Our room was huge with an anteroom/chamber as we entered and then a massive bed. Bed was firm, pillows very comfortable. Interior of the hotel is very tastefully decorated with rich furnishings and paintings. The long carpeted corridor reminded me of the movie Shining ! I am a keen bird photographer and I hugely regret this was not a birding trip at the right time. Just walking inside the hotel ground on a cold cloudy winter's day I hit double digits. It was nesting season with lots of activities. And an agouti too. Photos did not come out well as it was dull and overcast. I'm sure on a nice simmer days the hotel and the grounds would look stunning. Have breakfast outside and you'll see many birds. Beware of the plush crested jays eyeing your papayas. They organised a very nice cab driver called Marcelino to take us to the Argentine side, wait for us and bring us back via the Tres frontier. Just needed twenty minutes notice in the morning. In fact he was cheaper than booking through a well known agency. Food : we had the buffet on the first night. The spread was huge and lots of options for the strict vegetarians in our party. Nice Brazilian wine too. I have never tasted Brazilian wine before. Next day we called for room service and had a nice Italian meal. At the check out a nice lady gave me a small bottle, filled with the water from the falls. When the water evaporates completely it is time to return. Really sweet ! I am reasonably well travelled and this has to be one of my best experiences. Obrigado.

We stayed at Hotel Cataratas at the end of our 17 days in Brazil. A perfect ending. Our room was charming and comfortable, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel neglected to make arrangements for our transport from the airport (which was included in our LL package), but they made up for the error many times over during our stay, including a complementary guide when we visited the Iguassu Falls on the Argentina side. The location of the hotel also provides access to the viewing trails for the falls during hours when the park is closed to other tourist. A real bonus that is not available to those staying in the hotel in the Argentinian park. Next time I stay at Hotel Cataratas I'll coordinate my trip with a full moon!
