This is one of those iconic hotels in the world. The Iguazu falls just a few yards away, the wonderfully pink building. The very polite and attentive staff, excellent food in the ¥ restaurant and bars, as well as other amenities, such as tennis court, excellent pool and spa

This is definitely one of our most favourite hotels anywhere in the world. Perfectly located inside the national park on the Brazil side, everything about this experience is just all class. We enjoyed both the Brazil and Argentine side of the Falls and we had an amazing opportunity to see the Falls under a super moon.

Is it worth it? YES! Our stay was simply magical. Our short 1 night stay luckily coincided with full moon which we didn't even know. Luckily, we were able to partake in a small group tour to the falls in a simply gorgeous moonlit evening. This was one of those once in a lifetime experiences that will forever be etched in our memories. The next morning, we were able to leisurely walk down and view the falls with barely anyone around. Another magical moment. By the time the buses and throngs of tourists come into the park, you are relaxing and enjoying the extensive breakfast. You can only smile and think that Belmond is the only way. The hotel itself is stately and perfectly blends in with the setting in the national park. Our dinner was excellent and the service and communication (pre-arrival and during) is simply outstanding.

Carolina the receptionist was rude and unhelpful. This is a conference hotel so do not expect any peace and quiet. Avoid rooms on the ground floor as these will have people shouting as they go back to their rooms after partying. The buffet dinner is shockingly bad with poor quality food including overcooked pieces of bone with breadcrumbs which apparently was chicken. Only the salad was edible. Rooms are tired and bathrooms very tired with floors and tiles that did not feel clean When we complained about the banging noise from the conference event we were told we could move to another room apparently others had done this but at 11.00 at night with an early flight this was not a sensible option. When I asked to speak to the manager I was told by Carolina that there was no one in charge following this she mumbled some insult in Portuguese. The Italian restaurant on site by contrast was very good with very polite staff.

Location, location: walking on the falls trails before or/and after the big tourist crowds is a privilege! Traditional luxury colonial hotel, great pool, good breakfasts, food and cocktails at the bar / terrace were excellent But some flaws: downgraded upon check-in which was presented as an upgrade and we had to escalate the issue to management to get it solved (2 hours later) which is NOT acceptable for Belmond brand. Buffet restaurant very average

We stayed at Hotel Cataratas at the end of our 17 days in Brazil. A perfect ending. Our room was charming and comfortable, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel neglected to make arrangements for our transport from the airport (which was included in our LL package), but they made up for the error many times over during our stay, including a complementary guide when we visited the Iguassu Falls on the Argentina side. The location of the hotel also provides access to the viewing trails for the falls during hours when the park is closed to other tourist. A real bonus that is not available to those staying in the hotel in the Argentinian park. Next time I stay at Hotel Cataratas I'll coordinate my trip with a full moon!
