From the moment you walk in, you know you're at somewhere special. Since it's literally right next to the waterfall, we didn't have much expectations for the hotel itself. We thought like the Sheraton on the other side, it'd be a "play-it-safe", "you're here for Iguazu anyways" type of bland and outdated hotel, but we were wrong!!! The Belmond is a resort (not just a hotel) that would not be out of place on a fancy island or mountain retreat. It has multiple restaurants, pools and a resort like, spacious grounds and setting with an unique Portugese architecture style that is both impressive and luxurious. The rooms were beautiful, quiet and again opulent and luxurious. The restaurant food, while slightly expensive, where among some of the best we had in Brazil (the BBQ was amazing, comparable to the best restaurants in Rio). And the service was impeccable - friendly and professional, the staff really tries their best to make sure your stay is fun and enjoyable. If you're comparing where to stay like we did before our trip, we can unequivocally recommend the Belmond if based purely on the accomodation quality - it isn't at all comparable. But remember that for the park itself, the Brazil side is a lot more limited in scope an activities, so it can all be seen in a few hours (as compared to the Argentinian side which can take a day or two). So it's a tradeoff between a better resort or better access to the falls. One of the best resorts I've stayed at, would definitely come again!

The position of this hotel as the only one inside the National Park means that it has to be the best place to stay- you can wander round when the NP is closed. We timed our stay to coincide with a full moon - and we were not disappointed - we saw fantastic moon bows. The hotel organised a night walk (and charged of course) - which was good, as after dark, even with a full moon - it is very dark to wander along paths! However we did have some poor service. We ate at the pool restaurant on our first evening, and the service was so poor, that we didn't have time for our dessert before the moonwalk - it had taken 1.5 hours to get one course! - and the quality of the meat was atrocious! However we did get complimentary desserts and a drink once we returned from the walk. Also we had to book an early car to the gate and it was almost a quarter of an hour late, despite promising us faithfully it would be on time. Can't help feeling that the hotel rather sits on its laurels because it has no competition inside the party. However the rooms and the overall ambience of the hotel were good. The service at the terrace bar was good. The pool was great and we witnessed a toucan raid on the eggs in the nest - which was fascinating! If you want to be in the prime spot to see the falls at night you have no choice but stay here.

A short but very enjoyable stay in an awesome location with great views of the falls. Speedboat & rafting combo worked really well. Great service from friendly and helpful staff especially Jefferson in the bar.

We had a wonderful stay at the Belmond. It has a perfect location inside the National Park which allows longer access to the falls. I am in a wheelchair and there is a wheelchair accessible room which was appropriate. The path to get to the restaurant is cobbled, so my husband assisted me to get there. There is a ramp to the viewing platform across the road from the hotel but there is steps along the walkway to the lift. We used the road to walk to the lift or the buses (most are wheelchair accessible). We enjoyed the buffet breakfast and chose the buffet for dinner as well. My husband is vegetarian and it is a grill, but there was still a number of vegetarian options. The charge was less as he is vegetarian. There is free wi-fi in the room and we loved the Havianas in place of slippers!

I normally do not write reviews but the service by Rodrigo was OUTSTANDING. He was on top of everything and quite knowledgeable. Would recommend if you eat at the bar ask for Rodrigo. Excellent place to stay while visiting the falls because of the location and also you have access to the falls before and after park closes.
