If you can afford it don’t waste your time with other hotel on the Brazilian side. Firstly the park only allows a fixed number of visitors every day therefore if you go during busy times you might not get in. Second the hotel is literally opposite the falls and you can enjoy the experience of watching the falls and wildlife before the park opening times. This is incredible. We did an early morning walk to the Devil’s throat at 630... the way the light hits the falls is magic and you can see rainbows and ever changing light. On the way back we saw few cappuccino monkeys on a tree on the path, two toucans (one landed on the path handrail very close to my partner to watch us) and of course plenty of coatis (be aware they can be aggressive. Third: if all of the above was not enough... the hotel is gorgeous, colonial style, the rooms clean and comfortable. The swimming pool is just great when too hot to do anything, the veranda the place to be in the evening to watch the sunset, the falls and sip a lovely local beer or a cocktail. We only ate at the bar by the veranda because we did not want much, and the food was excellent, and other guests told us that the buffet was also very good, although pricey. The whole experience felt magical and the staff were attentive and welcoming. Practicality: to get to the hotel get a taxi from outside the airport or can use the private transfer from fallsvision a tour company inside the terminal. Both are quite cheap. They leave you at the main entrance to the park, where there is a small reception fro the hotel, where you can get refreshments whilst waiting for the shuttle. The shuttle takes between 10-15 minutes and leaves you at main reception. From there everything is easy. Enjoy. We did and will definitely go back!

The extra time you get before 930am and after 5pm when the rest of the visitors leave is worth the extra cost of staying here. Being able to take the 8am walk and be one of only 8-10 people on the platforms over the falls is amazing. We flew into the Argentinian side and flew out of the Brazilian airport. We saved so much money flying this way it paid for our hotel stay. We also paid for the hotel to meet us and get across the border. Around $100 but worth it. Francisco picked us up gave us a 1 hour nature lesson during the trip. Overall the service was great. Airton with our bags and Julio in the bar were great. The food and drinks in the bar area, as well as breakfast were all really great. The only negative during our stay was we were unable to get the temperature in our room to get lower than 24C. We only stated one night so it was not a big deal. The rooms were quaint and the bed could have been a little newer. Overall a great place to visit.

Iguacu blows you away! Wow! As the blurb says Cataratas is the only accommodation in the Park on the Brazilian side. Do not underestimate the value of this- it means that up until 9.30am and from 17.00pm guests of the hotel are the ONLY people viewing the Falls which spread over an area of perhaps 1.5 kilometres.During these times we had parts of the Falls to ourselves and that was very special. If there is one property where it is worth the investment, then this is it- not for the property itself (although it is lovely) – but for the privileged access to Iguacu Falls. The hotel is set beautifully to allow fast access to the walkways that surround the Falls. From the entrance lobby there is a very nice view to the Falls, although I’d question whether a view room would justify the extra cost. The swimming pool and gardens, indeed all the public spaces, are beautiful and the service provided is what you’d expect from Belmond (perhaps surprisingly prices of drinks at the pool were very reasonable). To illustrate that you are in a tropical forest, the attached photograph of a toucan was taken in the garden of the hotel. The restaurants are excellent- indeed the lamb at the barbecue was arguably the best I’ve ever tasted- and that is saying something. By contrast the ‘superior’ room that we occupied was disappointing- indeed to stay in a property of this quality and to find oneself in a room without a window (well there was a window, but the lower half was frosted, and the upper half blocked by a tree) was surprising. Wifi was also pretty poor. But, to be clear I’d be willing to sleep in the back of a truck to have this access to the Falls- and Belmond was thankfully far superior to that.

Located right at the Iguazu waterfalls, this hotel is the perfect place to be. A warm welcome upon arrival, very friendly and helpful staff during the whole stay, very charming service at the bar by Rodrigo, very nice room with comfy bed, excellent breakfast and above all breathtaking views, especially as you’re free to go to the falls before 9:30am or after 5:30pm when all the tourists are gone.

This is a 5* hotel and as expected excellent helpful staff who all speak English. Breakfast wonderful - I counted 13 different types of bread! The pool is clean with different depths so suitable for all ages and well served by bar staff who hand out complimentary fruit drinks & nibbles occasionally. What makes it even more special is the position. It is wonderful to be able to see the magnificant falls with few other people. Try to find time to climb the tower to see a different view of the falls.
