I stayed here whilst traveling for work. I was attending a conference across the street. I did the Hilton online check-in and selected my room, but when I arrived, it was not ready (a bit surprising, since it was well after 3pm -- the hotel's check in time). I was moved to another room, which was ready, but this one was on the ground floor (I would have preferred a second floor room, which was what I had selected online, but no big deal really). The room itself was fairly spacious, but quite plain. Some wear and tear was apparent. For example, the door knob was missing from the door that connected to the adjacent room (if my neighbors had opened their side, they could have looked straight through the hole into my room!). There was no view to speak of from my room. I ate breakfast at the restaurant whilst I was there, and this was quite good. Because I was there for work, I didn't get the chance to try the amenities. Overall, I found it quite acceptable for a work trip, but was not overly impressed. It seems understaffed -- I had to wait for a good 15 or 20 minutes to check out because there was only one person at the reception desk and she was a bit overwhelmed.

From the moment we arrived we were greeted warmly by the doorman and then directed to the front desk where we received a lovely complimentary glass of wine at check-in. It was a wonderful way to kick off a vacation after a long day of travel. The room was large and comfortable and I liked the set-up with 2 sink areas for getting ready in the morning and going out for day trips throughout my stay. The resort is small enough that it was easy to get around between my room, the pool, spa, cocktail lounge and restaurant. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and the lemon tree outside my room was fabulous! We loved relaxing at night around one of the fire pits, relaxing with a glass of wine. The cocktail lounge was also comfortable and have a good selection of liquors and was a great place to meet for a drink. The patio outside our ground floor room also got a lot of use in the am with coffee and at night for relaxing before turning in. Took a look at the planned renovations for the public space and I'm excited to come back and experience the resort again next time I'm in the area. I'm hopefully going to stay longer next time!

Upon checking in I was asked "can we Interest you in a bottle of water, beer or wine?" "Are you kidding me?! Heck ya!" I was handed a lovely glass of white wine for me and me friend. What a nice way to be welcomed! It was like visiting a friend! The lady checking me in took the time to tell me where to park and easiest way to get to my room and explained my restaurant and entertainment options within the hotel. The grounds are beautiful and clean. A fire pit was a fun way to relax in the evening and get to know other hotel guests. We stopped by the cocktail lounge after dinner and enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere and friendly staff. The room was very large and when I needed an extra blanket my request was fulfilled quickly by housekeeping. I can't wait to go back next month for my girls trip!

We reserved a King Room after seeing the rooms online. They offered a King room on 2nd floor with balcony, or a King room with patio, or a Jr. Suite. I asked for the room with balcony and the Miramonte Your Way rate which gives $50 credit per day for food or spa services. I also told them it was our 35th anniversary. When we arrived, we were given a letter describing the $50 credit and shown to a small room on the 2nd floor of a small building, with a King bed, very small window with a parking lot view, and a dirty room. There were drinks in the room and the bathroom had obviously been used. When I called the front desk I was told there were no patio rooms but I could be moved to a room with a step-out balcony --- basically a sliding door with an iron railing -- not a balcony as I had expected. So we were moved to the new room, which was much bigger but nothing exciting. We had a partial resort view and could see our car in the parking lot -- better than the first room. We were very disappointed in the first room and fairly shocked that we had been given that room at all. We enjoyed walking the grounds, had excellent breakfasts in the restaurant and were very pleased with the coffee shop and the happy hour. The fire pits near the restaurant were open but not the ones near our room. We had chosen the resort because it was advertised as "couples friendly".....what we did not noticed was that the resort is also "dog friendly". On Friday we noticed more people with dogs. We had our breakfast on Saturday out on the patio of the restaurant ...and while we were eating more people arrived --- all with dogs -- proceeding to converse with each other about their dogs --- so our quiet breakfast was somewhat spoiled. Next time we would definitely eat inside the restaurant --- we don't own a dog and prefer not to have them lying at our feet on a restaurant patio, no matter how well behaved. When I checked out of the hotel I noticed that the $50 credit per day had not been given, so I showed the letter to the agent (that I had received upon check-in) and it took her some time to get the credit added. A new receipt was issued, but I later noticed that they charged me resort fee and taxes for each day TWICE. When I called the hotel to discuss this (as we drove out of town) the woman said it would be taken care of, and I would receive a new receipt by email. As of today I have not received it. Will need to call tomorrow. We had hoped for a relaxing celebration of our anniversary -- and we did have a good time in the area. For such a lovely resort, I think it is too bad that the mattresses are so uncomfortable ....we didn't sleep well for 2 nights ....and I overheard another guest complaining of the same problem when I was checking out. I don't think we'll be going back to Miramonte Resort -- it's a very pretty place but the lack of attention and customer service just doesn't justify another visit. If they had better mattresses and treated us like they cared about the details, it would be a great place to spend a special vacation. If you reserve a room, be very careful to specify what type of room you want.

My sister and I attended the BNP Paribas tennis tournament and decided to try this hotel primarily because of its location. Apparently, it was just purchased by the Hilton chain (I believe that is what we were told). Hopefully that will result in an upgrade as the rooms are worn out and desperately need a face lift. The exterior is well kept. It was extremely hot during the tournament and even though our air conditioner claimed it was at 60 degrees, I slept on top of my bed as it was too hot in the room to sleep under the sheets. That's not okay. If you spend all day in the hot sun, I want a cool room. It was interesting to read that others were having issues with room service. I have never stayed at a hotel where you get an answering machine instead of a person to take your order or they tell you that someone will call you back and sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. Even more oddly, when you did get room service, they bring it on a tray without a cart/table. We had to eat on our beds. It was very clear that there was simply not enough employees for the number of guests. Those that were there were very friendly but were not able to keep up with the demands. Seriously, why is the lady that is collecting the garbage from the bar having to track down a server to come to our table?? I should point out that Oscar Ruic, the bell valet, was extremely helpful and courteous. I also did not appreciate coming back to our room to find the door slightly ajar and NO cleaning person even near our room. Anyone could have just wandered in! We also had to grab more toilet paper and towels from the carts (trying to get someone on the phone to bring these to you is impossible). They should also consider providing guests with bathrobes. I would only return to this particular hotel if there are noticeable improvements and better reviews. It cost an insane amount to stay at this hotel (with the Canadian dollar as low as it is right now), but I would still prefer to spend a bit more moeny to get a better, more updated room and service.
