My husband and I travel alot and we have always appreciated our Hilton experiences whether they were at the Hilton Gardens or the Waldorf Astoria properties. When we booked at the Miramonte Resort and Spa, we were confident we would again have a pitch-perfect Hilton stay. Unfortunately, while well-intentioned, the property hit a few sour notes. First the good stuff: our suite was lovely and large (a small pool and jacuzzi were right outside our door), the grounds were impeccably kept and gorgeous, the architecture was pleasing, The firepits were great, warm and welcoming on a chilly desert night. The pools beautiful, the restaurant had a unique choice of healthy, well- plated food and the bar was friendly. On the downside, the attempt to create a high-end resort feel didn't work for a few reasons starting with the lovely lady who was checking us in. She offered us a glass of wine - a gesture we certainly appreciated - but it lost its appeal when she had to struggle (even ask for help) with a screw top cap on a bottle of white wine. The pour was akin to what you would receive at a tasting and was poured into plastic cups. We felt for her since she was obviously trying to do her job graciously. It would have been better that the hotel place a bottle of wine in a silver ice bucket along with the flavored waters on a well-appointed table somewhere in the lobby. That way we could have been invited to have a drink - wine or water - without having to watch the poor lady struggle to do two jobs at once. I saw another couple confused by this ritual also. Perhaps the hotel could have plastic wine glasses set out instead of tumblers. This welcome seemed a bit like a backyard bbq with a harried hostess trying to make everyone comfortable. It wasn't much better when we got to our room. One of the first things we saw was a card on our bed inviting us to go green. We are familiar with the suggestion that we recycle towels for the sake of conservation, but this was a bribe. We were to get a $5 bonus if we decided to forgo room cleaning. Really? I go to a resort so that I can tidy up my own room? When I look at the price of our suite and the additional 'resort' fees, I could not imagine anything tackier than asking me to clean my own room - even if they were willing to pay $5.00. These things, along with the fact that there were only 3 bath towels, no extra pillows, no blanket and no robes unless you requested them (I thought Diamond level came with certain privileges) made for a disappointing stay. If the Miramonte were a hotel, I would not have a problem with any of this but they are billed as a resort. A resort is a place to be pampered. Cleaning my own room, begging for towels and robes, is not being pampered. We also had three spa treatments. They were good, not spectacular. The second day the ladies at the desk seemed happier to see us than the first day. The men's locker room had only one shower, the ladies locker room had two. There is a small co-ed pool/jacuzzi area. Only two lounges and some lovely cabanas. The cabanas are staked out early and people tend not to leave them so, while you are invited to come and go during the day of your treatment it will be difficult to score a comfortable seat near this pool. Sadly, we will probably not be returning the Miramonte. We hope that management will be able to decide if they are a hotel or a resort. The property can't be both. When in doubt, stay at La Quinta. We wish we had.

This resort has many different types of rooms. There are multiple pools/hot tubs. The grounds are well taken care of and the staff is friendly. The rooms are clean. My room had the old style shower in the tub layout which I did not care for. Water is not provided for the coffee maker (except on arrival they hand you a bag with two small bottles of water). This is a big place, 2 mile walk to any stores or restaurants. I did not eat at hotel. The bar was nice with two TVs. Second floor room has sliding door with a nonexistent deck.

The rooms are very large and well maintained, the grounds are beautiful and the staff and services is outstanding. Excited that the Miramonte is part of the Hilton family of Brands - Curio. Food and Beverage offerings were very good and reasonably priced.

We have always loved this hotel for their large, comfortable rooms with patios & balconies, beautiful grounds & amenities, wonderful spa, convenient/ample parking and pet-friendly policy! Stay here every year, at least once a year.

Diamond VIP's brought our whole family and thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of this gem. From the grounds to the rooms to the staff and the restaurant we felt warm and welcomed. We're happy it's now a Hilton property. Best compliment is we will be back.
