We stayed here as a couple in June. Could not fault it, staff were friendly and the food amazing. It’s a beautiful part of Italy and the hotel followed its beauty. Beautiful rooms that were to a high standard and impeccably clean. Highly recommend if you want a relaxed recharge holiday. Great for couples wanting a slow and enjoyable time together to unwind and enjoy the food.

My husband and I spent a week here in Oct. What can I say..the complex was lovely no high rise buildings here we stayed in a classic room which was fine no complaints. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, I suffer from arthritis and walk with difficulty this wasn't a problem as they have golf carts just a phone call away that would pick us up and take us down to reception area when we wanted to get the shuttle bus down to Lacco Ameno, a shout out to the driver Maurizio the driver who was lovely. I hate to say this next bit but don't want it to reflect on the lovely holiday we had but we were very disappointed in the evening meals they were very repetitive the potion were small 8-9 pieces of pasta , veal or fish for mains most night the dishes weren't very Italian . We ate out a couple of night in Lacco and the meals were delicious also felt a bit rushes .Can I also mention someting that nobody has commented on, maybe it was just us, when lunch was over at 14.30 if you stayed in the resort which we did a couple of days you can't get anything to eat until dinner at 20.00 , what do residents with kids do if they want a snack..strange. We went down to the supermarket and bought provisions as we didn't want a sit down meal at lunch. Forgot to mention wine was very expensive at dinner the cheapest was €28 and €4 for bottled water this should be on your table at no cost. To sum up Ischia is a lovely island, go on the half day bus trip great way to see the island and resort and staff are lovely just a few things that need tweecked

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Garden & Villas Resort! From the moment we arrived staff were very welcoming, helpful and more than willing to assist with reservations and information (not always the case in Italy!). The resort is set up as Villa-type rooms amidst lots of green space. The rooms and grounds were just as shown in photos online - super spacious rooms, fridge stocked daily with water and juice, lots of storage and a private patio. The free flip flops were useful. I really enjoyed the outdoor pool, which was comfortably warm in Oct, the Turkish bath and warm indoor pool. The location is great for exploring Ischia (where everything seems to be no more than 20 mins away) - it's just outside Lacco Ameno, close enough to walk into town, down to the beach and to Negombo Thermal park, or the resort offers a free shuttle. I was surprised that in Ischia there aren't really sidewalks on the main roads and the public buses were sardine-like packed - so the free resort shuttle was a great option to get into town at night, to La Mortella Gardens & Forio. The only thing really missing for us was a kettle in the room, but we were able to get hot water at the bar every night, so simply a minor inconvenience. Buffet breakfast was included, with hot and cold options, and good coffee. If you do stay, I would highly recommend dinner at Le Stufe Osteria & Cucina - one of the best meals we had out of our 10 day trip - and it's quite close to the resort!

We were expecting a wonderful resort based on the number of 5 star reviews from trip advisor and the prices, which were a little more than other seemingly equivalent hotels in Ischia. The room was spacious and clean but the furniture was not of the standard we would have expected, no drawers to put small items, plenty of hanging space but shelves were narrow, only just deep enough for folded shirts and hidden by curtains rather than doors. The beds seemed comfortable enough, but only one spare pillow. An iron would have been useful, as would a kettle to make a cup of tea, or even a box of tissues. Our room was opposite the bar, built into a cave with a lovely terrace outside. Excellent staff and service. However on a couple of nights the music/chatter could be heard from our room until almost midnight. The hotel entrance is on a main road with cars speeding past, no pavement for about 50 metres, although once past this it is a comfortable walk down into town. There is also a side entrance down a very quiet road to a beautiful bay, which we discovered a few days into our stay thanks to chatting with other guests. Breakfast was fine, the usual selection of meats, cheese, pastries and the option of cooked eggs. Dinner was disappointing. The tables were too close together, barely room for a wine chiller between the two. Luckily on both sides were very pleasant couples and we enjoyed chatting to them, but it was as I would imagine a holiday camp and the food was of the same ilk. Why when the restaurant is a good size are all the guests herded so close together at one end? There was a salad bar with plates of local produce, unfortunately many of the salads looked samey, dark aubergine salad, dark courgette salad, dark spinach salad or rice dishes. There were 3 choices for the starter and main course, the pasta dishes were generally fine, although nothing to write home about, the main courses were below average, though one evening we had a local rabbit dish which was very good, but most evenings I left the majority of the meal. The daily 'amuse bouche' was unimaginative and way too big as an appetiser. Every evening, after each course, the waiter, who was lovely, would come over and look at my uneaten plate of food and look disappointed, only once did the head waiter come over and ask my husband if he would like an alternative. We did not complain, there is little point, especially when it is obvious we were not eating the food. We looked at the thermal pool and steam room. What a dispiriting place! We did not return. We booked a private transfer which worked well on arrival but on our return trip we arrived in Naples to be told the taxi would be arriving in 10 minutes, we waited 50 minutes. No explanation or apology. To summarise, the first couple of days we were disgruntled enough to look at another hotel, however this also had shortcomings, on our return to Garden&villas we looked at it with new eyes. We appreciated the very pleasant gardens, the hardworking and friendly waiting staff, the cleanliness of the room. We would have liked to have had information about how to get down to the bay earlier, this made a huge difference to our enjoyment of the resort, yet it seemed to be a secret you had to discover for yourself. We have stayed in similar priced hotels in both Italy and elsewhere with fantastic food every evening, wonderful spa facilities and better appointed rooms. I don't believe this resort is truly worthy of 5 stars, 4 star surroundings yes, but the room, food and spa facilities, no.

I stayed with my Mum for a week in this lovely 'hotel'. I put 'hotel' in inverted commas, as the complex consists of rooms and small villas, nestling in the beautifully maintained gardens, full of gorgeous flowering plants and the scents in the evening were delightful! The largest building appears to be the dining room which opens out next to the swimming pool. We sat outside every morning having the most delicious breakfast with a glass of prosecco to start the day! Delicious pastries and cakes, as well as Italian hams and cheeses, eggs cooked to order to name but a few of the things on offer. The service was superb...the staff are fantastic, all of them...and always smiling...it is a very happy place to stay! The pool was warm, sun loungers...plenty of them. If you didn't want to sit by the pool, there were comfy chairs with cushions dotted about. The bar was good and it was just a joy to be able to sit outside after supper in a short sleeved top, enjoying a glass of Italian brandy which was very good! There was live music and dancing one evening only, so if you want a quiet place to stay, this is it! We had an upgraded room and the bathroom was large, all marble, the bedroom was large, marble floor, so worth taking a pair of little slippers if your feet get cold, and a patio with table and chairs. All very clean and towels changed everyday. Complimentary water in the fridge, restocked everyday and complimentary flipflops!! Do try the warm thermal pool, lovely and the Turkish steam room. Evening meals, we were half board, were generally good. Every evening meal started with a 'chefs offering', which may be bruschetta or a fritter. Then there was a choice from 3 for the first course and again a choice of 3 for the main course. These included fish dishes, eg; pasta with mussles, gnocchi, or soup, followed by fish dishes, veal, rabbit, steak, prawns. Dessert was from the trolley, a choice of 2. Generally the quality was good. The reception staff were very helpful...there is a complimentary bus service from the hotel to several places and this was a superb service! One thing to note....Ischia is an island that is very hilly, and to walk from reception to our room, as well as walking along the lovely maintained pathways, included climbing up and down 70 steps!! But it is not arduous, as there are so many lovely plants to stop and photograph and views to stop and look at, but just to be aware. But most of all I would like to compliment the service....superb transfers....bags all taken care of, with porters and bus drivers helping. The journey from the airport, potentially complicated, was very efficient and no need to worry about anything at all!! Superb organisation and it made the whole holiday a joy!! We had a really super time and do not 'worry' about being 'far' from the main town...nothing is far in Ischia, the public bus service, although a bit crowded was good and cheap and a taxi share is always an option. Thank you for a relaxing stay....I feel ready to face the world again!!
