Under the elegant eye of Giovanni Sirabella, Mezzatore, for me, was nothing short of magical. Though it's a little hard to dissect what made it so special - the setting? service? attention to detail? - it really doesn't matter, because it all adds up to a lovely experience. One that I can see returning to over and over again. An easy flight on Meridiana took me nonstop from JFK to NAP, where I was picked up and taken to the port for the short ferry ride to Ischia, then picked up on Ischia for the short ride to Ischia. Flanked by billowy white curtains framing the luscious sea below on the other side, I entered the pristine little reception area, and immediately felt at home and well taken care of. Because the room was ready, I entered my small but perfect room in the tower around 9am. Breakfasts on the large terrace high above the sea were wonderful. I found all of the staff, from the restaurant, to housekeeping, to lovely Antonella at the spa, to Mena in the office, and to Giorgio and his team by the pool, to be attentive, friendly, respectful...and of the caliber one would expect at, say, a Ritz Carlton. One afternoon, I walked to town, and came back with their driver at 8pm. Easy. One day I took a taxi to Sant Angelo for a few hours. Mostly, I just wanted to luxuriate by the rocks or at the pool and do nothing but take in the view and experience the property. Lots of stairs and mild hills...which for me was great, but for some may present a challenge. Dinner starts at 8, which for me is very late, but I guess that works for many others. What initially felt like four long luxurious days ahead, melted into one and went all too fast. I would have liked another day or two before moving on to Sorrento. I really can't imagine staying at any other property in Ischia. Bravo to Mr. SIrabella, with his expertise and finesse, and the whole Mezzatorre family.

This hotel is way at the top of Ischia, we took a cab from the pier. The view are breathtaking, the staff is super friendly and helpful, and the food was all delicious. Breakfast came with our room and the spread had so much variety. It was all very good. We had dinner at the hotel as well: service and food all top notch. The pool is on a cliff overlooking the sea and there are stairs to let you swim in the sea as well. I absolutely loved it here. Never wanted to leave. There's also a spa with thermal baths, as ischia was once an active volcano

Located in a secluded location with ocean views on the island of Ischia, the Mezzatorre serves as perfect base for those who want to explore this beautiful island and in a resort that makes the most of its stunning natural setting. Check in :friendly but a bit confused. And the strange reception decor is not the most welcoming. Room : we had a room in the tower. It was as small as a room can be and a tiny window gave us a chance to appreciate the nice views. Breakfast: good but not wonderful. Room for improvement on that front . F&B : nice al fresco setting for dinner but the food and service was only OK . Great guys manages to provide fabulous pool service but don't expect too much. Extremely pleasant bar perfect for a pre dinner drinks served with a smile . Facilities: fabulous gardens, great spa, good size pool and a magnificent beach makes this place worth the trip . What's to fault : bits and pieces to be improved and the excess of eccentricity in parts of the decor could be cleaned. ( look at the pics ) And more : this is not capri chic and it's not pretending to be - here the nature rules and the almost private bay is truly spectacular.

Mezzatorre is a beautiful hotel made even better by their highly competent staff. The pool area is very relaxing and the restaurant there serve up some delicious lunch options (try the bruschetta). The formal dining option is very good and the same place transforms to the breakfast room in the morning. Close to Forio and Lacco Ameno (free shuttle here too) to provide additional shopping, sightseeing and dining options. Staff here are friendly, efficient and superb. Special thanks to Georgio, Massimo, Fausto and many others who made the stay so enjoyable.

We spent nine nights at Mezzatorre on our honeymoon as part of a longer trip. Ischia as an island is interesting, beautiful, rich in history, nature and produce. It was a perfect honeymoon destination for relaxation and sightseeing. At the Mezzatorre we felt spoilt and pampered. The staff had the perfect balance of approachability and respecting our privacy. We spent time at the pool and spa and ate in the restaurant every night. The menu of the day is incredibly high quality with delicious inventive yet healthy dishes. Luca the Maitre D and all the waiting staff were just fabulous and helped us have such a special time. I don't think I have experienced such good hotel cuisine before. When we were there, there were journalists from Vanity Fair in reviewing the food and three was also a photo shoot going on the first day for a well known fashion brand. Testimony to the quality Andy beauty of Mezzatorre. Staff at the spa were also warm and welcoming as were the reception staff and porters. The cleaners were in twice a day making sure our room was always fresh and the scenery and setting of the resort is just stunning. Like the rest of Ischia, the resort is fairly hilly but we enjoyed walking about the resort (to walk off all the food!) and also our walks to the village of Lacco Ameno which is quaint and picturesque and has many good bars and restaurants. There is a regular shuttle bus service available from the hotel to Lacco. It's also walking distance to Negombo, an amazing thermal park and Giardini La Mortella, beautiful gardens designed by William Walton. We made use of the up to date hotel gym and also the tennis courts and enjoyed swimming in the outdoor salt water pool. We were actually quite sad to leave Mezzatorre - feeling like they were friends at the end of our stay - and hope to come back again.
