We spent nine nights at Mezzatorre on our honeymoon as part of a longer trip. Ischia as an island is interesting, beautiful, rich in history, nature and produce. It was a perfect honeymoon destination for relaxation and sightseeing. At the Mezzatorre we felt spoilt and pampered. The staff had the perfect balance of approachability and respecting our privacy. We spent time at the pool and spa and ate in the restaurant every night. The menu of the day is incredibly high quality with delicious inventive yet healthy dishes. Luca the Maitre D and all the waiting staff were just fabulous and helped us have such a special time. I don't think I have experienced such good hotel cuisine before. When we were there, there were journalists from Vanity Fair in reviewing the food and three was also a photo shoot going on the first day for a well known fashion brand. Testimony to the quality Andy beauty of Mezzatorre. Staff at the spa were also warm and welcoming as were the reception staff and porters. The cleaners were in twice a day making sure our room was always fresh and the scenery and setting of the resort is just stunning. Like the rest of Ischia, the resort is fairly hilly but we enjoyed walking about the resort (to walk off all the food!) and also our walks to the village of Lacco Ameno which is quaint and picturesque and has many good bars and restaurants. There is a regular shuttle bus service available from the hotel to Lacco. It's also walking distance to Negombo, an amazing thermal park and Giardini La Mortella, beautiful gardens designed by William Walton. We made use of the up to date hotel gym and also the tennis courts and enjoyed swimming in the outdoor salt water pool. We were actually quite sad to leave Mezzatorre - feeling like they were friends at the end of our stay - and hope to come back again.

The moment you take the winding road through the forest you get the idea that this is a special place. When you go through the cotton, curtained gazebo leading to the front desk, you are sure of it. I was in a cottage room overlooking the main building and the room was bright and comfortable, brimming with fluffy pillows on the bed. The decoration was soft and soothing, and the only sound was the occasional seagull and the sea. Meals in the Chandelier restaurant or the more casual poolside one were excellent and prepared with expert flair. Of course you can't come here without using the spa. The lemon and salt scrub was divine, and the relaxing massage in the open air at seaside was a dream. A step out of reality that was sorely needed! Thank you!

We don't normally stay in such a luxurious hotel - and this certainly is very luxurious. The main plus point is the fabulous pool and beautiful natural rocky inlet to swim in the sea. Unfortuantely we didn't have great weather during our 3 night stay, so that limited possible poolside enjoyment. We had opted for the cheapest room, so we felt rather out-of-the-way at the back of the private resort. The food was excellent, and the service in both restaurants was fabulous. The biggest surprise was that there was no proper bar - there is a bar area from where staff serve drinks, but no dedicated space to relax after dinner. The foyer of the tower is treated as a kind of seating area, but gives directly onto other guests' rooms, which means it doesn't have the same vibe as a bar space would do. Be aware that this resort is not conveniently placed for walking or bussing to other parts of the island - taxis are (almost) a necesssity.

Loved our stay at this top notch resort. Everything was outstanding, the service, food , great views, pool and staff. Only wish we could have spent more time here. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. And Lacco Ameno is a lovely Italian village.

If you love five star service, location, and amenities you must use their spa. The setting is amazing. Private road and bay. Incredible spa services and perfect setting A short 30 euro taxi ride from ferry stop then shuttle free to nearest shopping area Call loredana taxi driver for a four hour unforgettable and thorough tour of entire island for just 100 Euro. 39-328 4275982. She will also pick up and return you to ferry She drives a narrow taxi which is necessary to get down the tiny road to your hotel Don't miss the 15 minute walk to the free beach and next to "Negombo" Which is a garden and 15 pool thermal bathing area. Temps range from 66 f to 106 f and each is a unique picturesque setting. Lots to do on this island so plan four days at minimum
