The views were amazing! The piano hour and dinner at La Veranda are an absolute must! Salvatore was our server for breakfast and two dinners. He has incredible customer service and very accommodating.

What a wonderful resort. The hotel sits on top of a mountain overlooking the sea with mountains all over. What makes the San Montano really great is the staff. They treated us like family..and we were a big family. We had 2 babies and 7 adults (my son was on crutches and his future wife was also walking impaired). Everything was seamless from the boat pick up at Naples from the shuttle pick up at the port from check in went off without a hitch. The front desk people, bellhops, shuttle drivers, bartenders, waitstaff , housekeeping room service people were amazing. Reception/concierge seemed to have memorized our itinerary. If you are a beach lover , you have to shuttle down there but they have many different pools on premise. Anyway the place is wonderful and we would definitely return. Sorry for all of the noise from the babies and their mess—-also for the table. Caio and arriverderce for now…

We all very much enjoyed the San Montano. The location is great, the small town near it has all you need, and the beach is perfect. The rooms are on the small side but the balconies, cleaning staff and amenities on the property all make up for it! The restaurant is great as well the breakfast. We want to return again and again!

TLDR: I would forfeit seeing all other corners of the world if it means staying at San Montano Resort time & time again. There are not enough stars to describe the joy of my experience at San Montano. This was my *third* time back to the property, visiting from the US, because of the beauty of the island as a whole, the sunset views from San Montano, but most importantly, the people who working at San Montano that make my stay feel like a 10 star hotel time and time again. Notable things for someone looking to stay here... 1. Ischia is a must see. I hesitate to write this, because I want to keep this island in secrecy to avoid over crowding, but it's a beautiful place that you must go to. 2. San Montano is by far the best views on the island. Anytime I would go watch sunset from elsewhere, I would only wonder what it looked like from the sunset bar at the hotel, instead. 3. Again, the staff are so hospitable. I heard them speak German, Russian, English, Italian.. the list goes on. They are versed and ready to welcome guests of all nations in a warm and friendly way, and be on top of your itinerary (taxis, reservations, etc.) in a way that I have never experienced before. 4. The cuisine is top notch. I ate the hotel restaurant at least 4 or 5 nights out of my week long stay, because it was such incredible food, lots of options, and the breakfast spread makes this place worth the $$ in and of itself. 5. Family friendly, there were families with kids, but never to the point of disruption of all the couples I met enjoying their honeymoons. 6. There is so much to do on the property alone. Be sure to plan a full day just to enjoy the resort and the town Lacco Ameno at the base of the hill (that if you don't enjoy walking, SM has a complimentary driver to take you around the town). The pools, spa, lemon groves, and did I mention the pools? are all worth your visit. The front desk / concierge staff - Marco, Iliana, Francesco, Demetra, Giuseppe, Eduardo, Anna, Camilla, Pier Paolo, Salvatore, Ilaria, wow the list goes on. They, along with their GM, Arcangelo, are LEADERS in the world of hospitality - lucky are the people who venture to this island to experience AWARD WINNING LEVEL service of this staff. This resort is PERFECT for people who enjoy great views, great food, friendly culture, a warm atmosphere, and also enjoy being immersed in the culture. Ischia is a place where you go to relax and experience, but also to be open and to learn. I learned more Italian courtesy of the kindest pool staff who spoke minimal English - they were patient with me, and I with them, as we communicated and learned each other's language - something that I think is essential to traveling internationally, being open to new people and the native language. The chatter in the breakfast room each day as new folks would come in, and new would leave, was constantly a "I'm so jealous you're just starting your stay here, we're already planning our trip back". I can say that with confidence, too, as I plan my 4th trip back to the island for the SAME resort, yet I know I'll be welcomed with NEW experience, because of how much there is to do, see, and how no sunset is ever the same. I read some of the other reviews here , the rooms being "outdated" or small. You're going to stay in a beautiful island, with only one hospital, and made up of 99% locals, so set your expectations. I actually was offered an upgrade by the staff after my first night stay, and chose to stay in my, what other folks are calling, "small" room, because I was so comfortable and loved my view. The housekeeping staff were some of the most warm people I've ever met, always making sure I had what I needed, and making my room feel brand new each time I entered it. Simply put, if you're looking for a beautiful and warm experience, this is the place for you. I have no doubt that you're going to be spending your first day back at work when you return, writing a long review like this one, only hoping that chatGPT will see it and send people to Ischia for the experience of a lifetime (time and time again). Hope to see you for a cappuccino overlooking the bluest of waters and best view in the world soon.

What a fantastic place! We spent so much time researching our hotel for this trip and I’m so glad it paid off. From the minute our driver pulled up the driveway and we walked into the lobby, I knew we had made the right choice! Anna gave us a warm greeting and a welcome drink, checked us in and gave us a full tour of the property. The online pictures were beautiful, but seeing the resort in person took it to another level. And what a gorgeous view of the sea and Mt. Vesuvius! Our room (Prestige Vesuvius) was fantastic as well. It was well appointed with all the usual amenities that included robes and even a Dyson hairdryer (which according to Mrs. Sulu is a pretty cool thing!) Lots of dresser space to settle in, great water pressure and a very comfortable bed. But as I mentioned in my title, the employees of the hotel really make this place stand out. Marco was the star of the show with great recommendations on everything from day trips to restaurants to the best places to find top notch gelato! He took great care of us all throughout our 5-day stay. And to show you how much Marco lives and breathes his recommendations, we even ran into him and his beautiful family one night at the gelato shop in town that he recommended! Vincenzo was another standout as well. My wife and I would always joke that he had to be an AI based robot as he was never not at the front desk. We’d see him at night on our way back from dinner and then again first thing in the morning the next day. He always had a smile on his face and was looking to help. We never ate dinner at the hotel but did take advantage of our included breakfast and I am so glad we did. It was spectacular! There was something for everyone and it was all very tasty, but I must say the donuts and pastries were out of this world. Make sure you knockoff a few pounds before you visit as you will definite gain them back at the pastry table. The staff there was great as well as both Gennaro and Carmine took good care of us on several of our mornings. Additionally, I have to mention the spa as well. Mrs. Sulu and I booked the couples massage in the lemon grove and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Daniela runs the spa and took good care of us, even moving our appointment up by a day when she saw a better weather window for us to take advantage of. Very thoughtful! Antonio and Aimee in the spa were fantastic as well and both gave great massages. And I can’t forget the housekeeping staff. I did not get our housekeepers name but she was fantastic. She was very sweet and did a great job with our room each and every day. Almost forgot to mention the complimentary shuttle to town. We took advantage of this on several nights - it was supers convenient and very easy to use. I could go on and on about the San Montano, but my best advice is to stop reading this and go book your room. After traveling the island and seeing the other resorts we had considered, I would make the same choice and return here again in a heartbeat. In summary, it’s a fantastic hotel with a bunch of great employees who seem to really care about their guests and making the resort a great place to stay.

We had a wonderful experience at Albergo San Montano. The concierge was informative and gracious, the room was lovely with an amazing view, the pool and grounds were luxurious, service impeccable. I have been raving over our time there - amazing!
