Reviews for San Montano Resort & Spa
From the moment we arrived until the moment we left San Montano was an oasis of peace and calm and luxury. The staff are the real jewel of the hotel as they make you feel so special all the time. This is truly a luxury hotel. We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to a suite when we arrived and were amazed at the level of luxury, including our own infinity pool! We cannot say enough about this magnificent hotel. We would like to thank ALL the staff for their attentiveness, professionalism and genuine care that they showed to my fiancée and I. The views from the pools are breathtaking, the grounds are beautifully maintained, the food was excellent and the ambience was so calm and effortlessly peaceful. I travel frequently but have never stayed in such a beautiful hotel. My fiancée and I would like to thank everyone who made our special stay even more special and we cannot wait to return.

We stayed at San Montano two years ago having booked through Thomsons and wrote a rave review about the hotel and island on our return. We decided to return again in 2017 but frustratingly, found no tour operator including it in their programme when we looked at the beginning of the year. Happily, we contacted Kuoni who passed our inquiry to Kirker Hoildays and it was rapidly sorted and booked in January. While we subsequently found that TUI added the hotel to their programme, we have to praise Kirker for fantastic organisation and while the price may have been slightly more, getting priority boarding, better plane seats, private transfers etc definitely made the trip less stressful and it was definitely worth it. This year we visited at the beginning of August and the experience was very different to our last visit in late June. Much hotter and many more young children and teens in the hotel while our last visit was notably quieter with far fewer Brits and a more cosmopolitan feel. The hotel itself had lost none of its attraction. Rooms had been refurbished since we were last there, the food really fantastic, the welcome and service standards quite exceptional. While it would be really easy to single out individual staff members whose names we know for special mention, it would probably be unfair since all of those we came across, even just in passing were equally courteous and friendly but we will give a special mention to our fantastic waiter Luca who was simply brilliant. If there were any downsides, it would have to be that the cost of drinks in the hotel was simply astronomical even allowing for the fact that exchange rates meant our pounds didn't buy as many euros as before, and that it is an upmarket hotel and not a seafront bar! The 'on demand' shuttle service to the town was great and readily available, There were some nice new additions since we last visited. Some new terraces have been built which are, or will be, really lovely when they are complete. As for the island, it's a strange mix - some parts are really beautiful and rich in fascinating history, while others are quite scruffy, and a bit like any other resort in the Med, and the sprawling town below the hotel is a mix of very upmarket boutiques with eye watering prices and tatty eateries and shops where the service and levels of customer care are really as bad as you will find anywhere. The small beaches nearby are nothing to write home about and a bit crowded but to be honest, the hotel and its pools are so perfect, I'm not sure why you would want to leave its environs. This year we hired a self-drive boat - last time we hired a self drive car but once was enough to put you off driving here for life. The boat hire was organised by the hotel reception and the service was again fantastic both from the hotel and West Coast Boats. The cost for the day was about £140 but it was money truly well spent. We went around the island easily in the day stopping off at various places and it provided a fantastic way of seeing this beautiful place. So 2017 is over and I know we will go back to San Montano again - we cannot recommend it too highly. Sent from my iPad

My wife and I stayed in the executive suite on the 3rd floor....the 2nd bathroom is key. Terrace was incredible with amazing views of the beaches and equipped with a hot tub and 20 foot shower above. I've read some reviews claiming this is not a 5 star resort and I must disagree. From the time we booked our stay they were in contact with us giving info on spa treatments an area restaurants.Upon arrival our room was immaculate and they even supplied us with a tray of cookies. When ordering a bottle of perseco they supplied a tray of appetizers to go along. The entire staff couldn't do enough from arranging taxis to the beach and town, to providing early breakfast at 6am upon are departure. Again, in my mind they deserve the 5 star rating and I'm glad we chose to stay here for our special day...oh and try their new restaurant ion town it was fantastic. Can't wait to return in 4 years when my youngest graduates.
I stayed at San Montano for a long weekend. I was there 2 years ago and I loved, but this time it was even better. General manager Mr Orlacchio and his team have done a fantastic job in the last years, the hotel has been updated while retaining the stylish and classic "dolce vita" feeling. The views are amazing and the service second to none. The food was superb. A paradise for relaxation!! I will defently be back next year.

We stayed at this hotel on about the highest point of Ischia and above a little village of Lacco Ameno. The hotel provides a continual service into the town and to their beach both only a few minutes by car. The hotel boasts seven pools, some are small but the larger ones were heated which did not appeal to us. There are ample sun lounges around the pool and the "lifeguard" is everywhere to assist with towels and shade. The beach was very crowded on our visit and we only went once, but the shuttle takes you and picks you up. We walked into town and back every morning and this should not be attempted unless you are VERY fit. The reception staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for the wonderful concierge, Vincenzo, and his team. They organised changes to our ferry bookings and booked restaurants for us We had one meal in the hotel restaurant, but thought it expensive. Breakfast is included and is served in the same area and is buffet style, but eggs any style can be ordered from the waiters. The room was very small for a 5 star hotel but we had a magnificent view over the deep blue sea and to the islands in the distance. The rooms were well maintained with a turn down service and the wonderful Stella was always around assisting when necessary. The hotel is a bit remote. It is a 30 Euro taxi ride into the main town of Ischia. We didn't like the hot pools and although we enjoyed the facility we would opt for something closer to the main town if we visit Ischia again
