Missed the mark

This resort came highly recommended for families so we booked it as part of our Florida keys trip. I will say staff were very friendly and the exterior grounds well maintained. Our server at the pool the day we booked the cabana was amazing and attentive. However, our room was very tired and could use a refresh. There were holes in the carpet , water stains in the ceiling in the bathroom from obvious water damage from room above, the hot water was either scolding hot or luke warm, lightbulbs that needed replacing and the decor /finishes dated overall. There is also a ton of sargassum and the smell was pretty awful. I know the sargassum is out of their control but for the price they charge for their “resort fee” you would expect them to make a little effort to periodically remove it, even if just weekly. Overall we did enjoy the grounds of the resort but probably would not return.

🎶 “That’s Where We Wanna Go…” Cheeca Lodge

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 23 hours ago

Cue the Beach Boys… “Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I wanna take ya…” except for us, it was Islamorada, and we couldn’t have picked a better place. Cheeca Lodge was everything we hoped for and more. We absolutely loved our stay and can’t wait to come back. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed. A special thank you to our concierge, Anne, who was absolutely wonderful. She took the time to recommend family-friendly activities both at the lodge and around Islamorada, and every recommendation was spot on. One of the best things about Cheeca Lodge is that there’s truly something for everyone. We loved paddleboarding, kayaking, riding bikes, fishing off the iconic pier, and relaxing by one of the three beautiful oceanfront pools. There’s even complimentary golf, which we’ll have to try next time. Our lagoon-view room was peaceful, beautiful, and impeccably maintained. The entire property is stunning, secure with gated entry, and complimentary parking made everything easy. We also had a fantastic dinner at Mia Cucina. The food was excellent, but what really stood out was how kind the chefs and staff were to our kids. It’s those little touches that make a vacation memorable. The complimentary 24-hour shuttle made exploring Islamorada effortless, and having a 24-hour convenience store just across the street was an unexpected bonus. Islamorada truly captured our hearts. It has that laid-back Keys vibe without the crowds, making it the perfect destination for families looking to relax while still having plenty to do. Cheeca Lodge has mastered the art of hospitality. We arrived as guests and left already talking about our next trip back. If you’re dreaming of your own little slice of paradise in the Florida Keys, this is it.

THIS IS NOT HOW YOU HANDLE FOOD

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Food brought out in to go containers and it just sits there until whoever it belongs to is found. While waiting to order food at “25 SOUTH” simple questions asked could not be answered. Top dollar for very poor quality food, brought out in a to go box to eat with disposable utensils.

Biggest rip off. Charge premium prices for a place that is falling apart.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! I HAVE HAD LESS STUFF BROKEN IN A ROOM AT MOTEL 6. The a/c will not cool the room after a hot day. The toilet does not work. It has to be plunged everyday. The front door lock to the room does not lock. The handles on the faucets are broken off. The shower head is too clogged to rinse off. All of these items are the sum of lack of basic maintenance to the building.

Not worth the $$$. Outdated Needs Work

So disappointed. We were married at Cheeka in 2013 and have been back 5 times over the years. This trip was so disappointing. They have live roosters on property that scream at the wee hours of 3:18 am waking our family up unable to sleep. We had no hot water, ant problem in the room. The initial Check in staff seemed stressed out not friendly the food at Atlantic edge was awful. Scallops so dry the filet was bad and tough the breakfast order came out wrong. The pool staff and food and guest adventurers help were the highlight. But I don’t believe we will return there are other newer places we will try.

I recently stayed at the Cheeca Lodge & Spa with my girlfriend. We had purchased the package through Luxury Link. Both of us were very pleased with the accommodations and the amenities of the resort. Everything was just as the offer stated. The service was impeccable. If anything was amiss, it was quickly and courteously taken care of. The food was fantastic, and - did I mention the service? Everyone at this resort bent over backwards to make our stay was perfect. It was money well spent and a vacation to remember.
