We had very high expectations for our 4 night stay at The Moorings. For the price alone one expects great things but the hype certainly led us to believe we were staying someplace special. Unfortunately we were utterly disappointed. When I expressed my concerns upon checkout the very nice and understanding person told me that she was sorry, took notes, and asked me if her manager could contact me about it so that they could discuss it with me. The conversation was very calm, I just gave her an honest list of the problems. It has been 2 weeks and I have heard nothing. The Good - The grounds are beautiful, nearly everywhere you look there is a different beautiful plant or tree. The "beach" looks like a postcard but it would be prettier if they raked the seaweed once in a while. The staff was also very pleasant but due to the set-up you don't interact with staff very much. The Bad - Our cottage was way beyond need for repairs and upgrades. The box springs are way overdue for replacement. They creaked so much and so loudly that we woke up constantly. Also, the bedroom walls are so thin you can carry on a normal conversation with the kids through the wall. The kitchen and bathroom cabinets have chipped paint and failing hinges. The tile floors and countertops (yes, they still have them) have chips and the grout is stained. The toilets don't flush very well. The living room furniture is quite tired. Want to enjoy a drink by the pool while on vacation? That is not allowed, no food or beverages in the pool area. Want to lay down by the pool? Better lay your towel out because the cushion is covered in bird droppings and sap (none of which looked fresh). The Ugly - Our cottage was called the Waca Cottage and we found out the origin of the name. Every 5 minutes you had to waca bug. I know Florida has an endearing term, the Palmetto Bug, but back home we call them cockroaches and we get rid of them. At the Moorings you share your cottage with them. In addition to the roaches, swarms of tiny white bugs were on the countertops and ruined our food. Tiny black bugs swarmed the stove and the coffee maker. When we got home we unpacked in the garage for fear of bringing the bugs into our home.

This is one of the most beautiful resort I ever been. Very lush but still beautifully manicured. The beach is gorgeous however because of high and low tide, the sand tends to feel muddy so not the greatest to swim but still doable. Also this is mostly a place for adults to relax and loud noises, music, ball playing..etc on the beach is discouraged. The place has tons of hammocks as well as ses kayaks available for free. The pool is pristine and the staff very attentif , professional and friendly . You go to the moorings to look for a calm place to relax and recharge not to play .

Incredible! Private. Oasis. Paradise. Can't wait to go back again. Great for families. Romantic for couples. Get ready to relax!!! Laid back and you can walk everywhere. Quiet. All equipment provided, full kitchen, luxe sleeping, porches and hammocks. Tennis, large pool and the beach steps away. If you can, get a house on the water- better breeze and less mosquitos.

We recently stayed at The Moorings Village to celebrate our anniversary. It really is an amazing place. The entire property is beautiful and secluded. It feels like you're on a private island at times. We stayed in the small beachfront cottage called the Farside. It is a really nice little 2 bedroom cottage with a small living room area and kitchen. You can literally walk off the front deck onto the beach. The Moorings staff also sent us a complimentary bottle of wine to celebrate our anniversary which was a very nice gesture. The Farside cottage was nice, clean and private. We even got a visit from the resort cat Momba every morning. Sadly one of the staff members told us they are tearing it down soon and replacing it with a new larger cottage. The beach area is beautiful with white sand and numerous palm trees but really not swimmable. They do have a pool onsite if you're looking to swim. They also have onsite paddle boards and kayaks that you can use at anytime. I've read other reviews mentioning the lack of an onsite restaurant or bar and how the staff doesn't cater to the people much. I think the point of the resort is to get away from the craziness of daily life and completely relax without having a noisy bar or a bunch of chaos. If you're looking for party time this isn't your place. If you're looking to get away and disconnect a bit then I highly recommend you stay here. I read a quote from the owner who mentioned the inspiration behind the resort was "indescribable inner peace". That's a perfect description of what you'll experience at The Moorings Village. We did have dinner at both the Morada Bay Beach Cafe and the Pierre's across the street from the Moorings Village. Both we nice and the sunset views from the beach area are great. I'd highly recommend Pierre's if you're looking for a nicer evening out. If you stay at the resort you can reserve a table at either place since they're owned by the Moorings Village. The only negative feedback I have (and have seen this written in other reviews) is with the staff security/beach patrol. I understand protecting privacy for the guests at the resort is a priority but they need to be retrained on how to approach people. I also understand that the popularity of the Netflix series "Bloodline" (which was filmed there) has caused some increased tourism and resort trespassing. We were approached several times by the staff telling us that this is private property and we had to leave the area without first being asking if we were guests. We always needed to prove that we were actually staying at the resort and remind them we were paying a premium price to do so. On one occasion we explained that we were staying in the Farside cottage only to be approached 5 minutes later by the same individual who basically called us liars and told us we'd have to leave the property. After finally showing him the key to our cottage and proving we were guests he apologized. About ten minutes later we witnessed 3 teenagers sneak onto property from the Cheeca Lodge resort next door, walk right past him and perform a 20 minute selfie photo shoot on the beach without being asked a single question. Here's a suggestion..... The place isn't that big (18 total cottages). Every morning each security member should be given a print out with the guests name/cottage listed. Instead of assuming people are trespassing, politely introduce yourself, ask people if they are guests and what cottage they're staying in then cross check it against the list. Then remember who you've spoken with and don't keep harassing them. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at The Moorings Village and highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a relaxing time in paradise!

We stayed at the Moorings in May for three nights as part of our honeymoon. The location is stunning and secluded, and the perfect place to relax. We stayed in Sifca lodge which does not have a direct ocean view, but is literally a stone's throw from the beach and amongst super lush greenery. It also has a beautiful front porch which we used for coffee in the morning and cocktail hour...very relaxing! The lodges come fully equipped with kitchen items and laundry items so you can really make yourself at home. After all the eating out during our wedding weekend, it was really nice to be able to cook a few meals in. We also enjoyed AMAZING massages on the beach with the on-site spa services. They are VERY expensive but it was the best massage my husband and I ever had so it's worth a splurge. Definitely get it on the beach - it's so quiet and peaceful! The only potential negatives I will mention is that there is no bar/restaurant service on site. We didn't mind this, as we loved having the ability to cook in our kitchen, but just want to mention for others. Great restaurants are literally a short walk away (we loved Chef Michael's + Pierre's) and there is a small grocery store that we drove to but you could easily walk. The other thing that was slightly disappointing is that they didn't do anything for us to commemorate our honeymoon (and they were aware). For the prices you're paying, you would expect even a small token. It doesn't need to even be an item, but for example, they booked two dinner reservations for us and it could've been a nice touch to mention to the restaurant that it was our honeymoon so then the restaurant might have said congrats, etc. It's the smallest gesture, but those things mean so much! Overall we loved The Moorings and are very happy we stayed there!
