A most refined italian cuisine in ambience. I was most pleased and satisfied by my experience at this hotel. Very impressed by the excellent style of service and the quality of specialities, like fresh fish. The breakfast very rich, impressed us for its fantastic brioche with unique flavor and softness! We ended our evening with a dessert buffet to say the least surprising given the great quantity, and above all the quality, of American pies and not, which we will hardly forget! Italian food at its best!!

Villa Ottone is a great place. The hotel is slightly dated and 1970's design features heavily. I spent the first 24 hours thinking it could do with a remodel and then the next 48 hours hoping it never gets one..... they should never change this place. The food is excellent, given its proximity to the sea, the fish is as fresh and well cooked as it should be. I would and will return to villa Ottone very soon. The major feature of this hotel is the incredibly friends, welcoming and professional team of staff the villa is lucky enough to have. They truly make the stay unforgettable and are as good if not better than any I have encountered before. Thanks for offering us a great stay Villa Ottone, we'll be back soon......

This hotel complex centered on a 19th century villa is located in a quiet enclave several kilometers from town. It features a private beach, pool, tennis court, and other features expected of a 5 star resort. That said, the initial impression is of a physical plant that is a little rundown and in need of an infusion of capital -- a little paint here, updated fixtures there -- that kind of thing. But this matter becomes less significant over time -- the staff is genuinely caring, cheerful, and more than willing to please, the food offerings are imaginative and first rate with always fresh and local ingredients, and the overall ambience is relaxed and welcoming. If you do not anticipate an urban 5 star environment, you will be more than pleased with what is offered. A room in the old villa facing the ocean is a must. Falling to sleep to the sounds of gently lapping waves overrides all oher considerations. I would welcome a return visit.

Villa Ottone is an amazing hotel of Elba island First, the spot is amazing with its historical garden, its (very long !) private beach and its location. You are in one of the wildest part of Elba island, meaning you are not at all in the crowded part of it. Secondly, the restaurant is simply amazing. Do not hesitate to pay for the half board. It really worth of it. On top of the excellent cuisine, you can enjoy the sunset on the terrasse (or the georgious view at breakfast or lunch). The staff is excellent by the way. Third, for families, the staff of the kids club is very kind & attentive to the kids. They do nice activities together. Beside the kids club, the hotel proposes for free individual lesson of swimming. The teacher is also very good and fun at the same time. My kids have really enjoy it. The overall place is so nice that you do not really need to drive around the island. The hotel itself has 2 buildings : - the historical one is very beautiful and most of the few rooms/suites have an amazing view on the bay - the quite recent building is much more bigger and quite discret. Each room is OK with a nice tiny terrasse. I definitely recommend the place, even more if you find a good deal !

Just arrived back from 12 nights at Hotel Villa Ottone, a beautiful setting but remote - a car is a must to reach other parts of the island and get more choice of restaurants. A 1.5km journey cost us 28 euros each way by taxi. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable, the shower had good power and temperature (some may find it a bit small). Towels changed twice a day and bed is turned down whilst at dinner. We appreciate it's late in the season but all the flowers in the balcony window boxes were dead. Dinner is always a 5 course set menu and at 50 euro / head (not incl wine, water or coffee) is expensive. Generally nice but not exceptional, sometimes lacking in imagination and short on veg other than salad. dress code is confusing - men must wear long trousers for dinner but jeans are acceptable. Women can wear pretty much anything. I was permitted into the restaurant on our first night (in smart tailored shorts and classic collar and cuffs shirt) but felt rather patronised when I ordered steak tartare and it was pointed out to me that it is uncooked (I am an ex chef!). The Waiting staff & ladies on reception were friendly and very helpful. Beach is well maintained but only a couple of paddleboards available to get you out onto the water. The swimming pool is really cold but the gardens are lovely with resident ducks. Nice for a few days if you like a more formal approach but not if you're looking for a relaxed holiday atmosphere.
