This is my second time as Las Brisas, I came 8 years ago with a friend, this time with my spouse. Overall if you are new to this area of Mexico and want a beautiful room with an amazing view of the private ocean view enjoying relaxing days I think fairly reasonable, clean hotel and is very open and airy. It's on a hill so expect to get some exercise walking to and from your room/beach/ixtapa if you don't want to take a cab but great exercise. If you are old and sick, and in wheelchairs, pick a different hotel. A few things: I don't like they charge for cheap hotel tiny coffee pods the room, really? That stingy? They had water they charge for in the room and I opened it and used probably 8 oz and they took the whole bottle to replace and charged me and replaced it with a new full one which was just strange, so I lost almost a whole bottle of water. That was weird and what is two packets of single serve coffee cost in regards to a hotel room that is well over 100$ a night? That's petty to me and annoying. Staff is otherwise helpful and professional when on the property. We'd walk into Ixtapa from the hotel and when we'd pass staff getting off of work they don't make eye contact and no smiles. Keep in mind most know a little English (hotel staff are good but if you leave), My advise is try to know some Spanish and use it. The beach at the hotel they have is awesome for beach time but rough, this wouldn't be a place where your kids could play in the water safely without constant supervision. It's a gorgeous beach and you can get wet to cool off but if you are not experienced with crashing waves and getting tumbled, you may want to go more into Zihautanejo where the ocean is calmer. We unfortunately went a little later this year that we wanted so we hit Easter and all the Mexicans coming to vacation from the surrounding inland regions; the hotel then became super packed and got too busy towards the end of our stay. I would definitely recommend earlier in the year for sure - just TOO many people to contend with& places to find on the beach etc. I would recommend all travelers to Mexico bring wormwood, a good probiotic and just be aware of the difference in cleanliness standards (if you are eating in town like we did a lot). Also consider Troncones if you are interested a super low key vacation in that region and want more solitude.

Las Brisas was good value for the money. * older complex, but very clean and well-maintained * the property is filled with trees and plants that offer shade and shelter for birds - very nice * friendly staff attentive to our needs * spacious room with king bed, huge patio/balcony with hammock and patio furniture to enjoy the fantastic ocean view and fabulous sunsets * private and very clean beach with plenty of shade huts and lounge chairs, lots of waiters to cater to our needs for food and drinks * no jet skis, power boats or para-sailing to interfere with the peaceful atmosphere *no pesky vendors on this beach selling their wares * a 5 minute taxi ride to El Centro in Ixtapa for plenty of shops, bars and restaurants * a 10 minute taxi ride to Zihuatanejo

Our stay at Las Brisas was very enjoyable. Although this is an older complex, it is well maintained and in good condition. Our room was spacious and clean with a very large balcony/patio with a fabulous view of the ocean and the sunsets. The beach facilities were amazing with plenty of shade huts, loungers and chairs to relax at. The beach was well-staffed with waiters to cater to our needs for food and drinks.. This is a private beach for hotel patrons and it is void of vendors selling their wares, so you aren't continually pestered to buy stuff. A taxi ride to El Centro in Ixtapa is only 60 pesos and a 5 minute ride. A taxi ride to Zihauatanejo is about double and there are plenty of taxis available. Only one caution to offer up ..... If you want to eat at the the Mexicana Restaurant in the hotel, you have to wear long pants. This dress code requirement was not made clear to us in any of the advertising. The average temperature was 32 degrees, so I avoided packing ANY long pants and although they allowed blue jeans, they would not allow golf shorts and shirts which are a helluva lot more fashionable than blue jeans. They tried to make amends by offering room service, but they disappointed us by screwing up the date and the order. This could have been totally avoided if they created some awareness up-front.
