Staying at Westcliff was the best stay at the hotel I have ever experienced. Definitely worth staying - it literally ruined all other hotels for me afterwards. Definitely want to come back and enjoy the stay this time with my family.

With service this good, one can only assume that the only way to go will be down. Fortunately, The Westcliff remains 'on guard'. The experience of staying at the hotel remains consistent. It really is a warm and inviting experience - no pressure. The uncanny ability of every member of staff to remember your name and face is just so heartwarming. I have had experiences where they remember my voice on the phone when I call to book! The Westcliff is an experience. A wonderful, rewarding, experience. The only bitter taste in my mouth comes when I am checking out! I hate leaving...

When I made the booking with the four Seasons one of the reasons was there high rating but from the moment we arrived we were disappointed. When making the booking we discussed the room to be ready by 1pm as we driving up from Durban with a toddler. Which as agreed to by the lady I spoke to that made my booking and also we took one of there specials for 3 nights. Well when we arrive past 1pm our was not ready and the special we agreed too on the phone call was not set aside for us. So we had to sort that out with a toddler that was just waiting to go relax after a long drive. So they moved us to a room finally while we wait for our room to get ready. We ordered food for the baby and us which got delivered then our room was ready past 4pm and check in at the four Seasons is 3 pm. We didn't finish our meals because all of a sudden our room was ready so had to move and we're very upset and tired and had planned to go see family already at 4 but pushed a little later because of the hotels delay. Finally in our room started unpacking and seeing to our little girl and the aircon doesn't work in the room. I couldn't belive it. So calling the Manger we were eventually moved to another room at about past 6pm we were exhaused and couldn't do any meets with family that day my child was beyond exhaused and was just time for her bath when we discovered there was no hot water. We were completely disappointed with the four Seasons having only stayed in 5 star hotels for us the four Seasons westcliff should not have the rating it does. We will never stay there again.

The entrance road to the Four Seasons Hotel The West Cliff is not well marked; our guide had a challenge finding it, even using GPS. Once you do arrive, you pass through a gate that is much like entering a protected compound. I was really surprised to see the nearby neighborhood of beautiful homes protected with guardhouses and wrapped in electrical fencing: a sad sign of the times? The Hotel staff is friendly, professional, and efficient. The lobby area is small and harbors one very small gift shop, but it is stocked with nice items. The staff really tried to make us feel at home and comfortable. I would suggest the hotel increase its gift shop presence by opening some of the other ground floor space to additional retail. The hotel rooms are built into the hillside and you can either walk up the winding cobblestone roadways or let the hotel staff ferry you to your room. The rooms are quite spacious and some have great views. Our lower level view was somewhat limited by the trees but the veranda was decent sized and on a nice day, it would make a great spot to enjoy a drink or have breakfast. The room was extremely clean with plenty of storage space. The bathroom was also well appointed but extremely long (the longest I have ever seen!). Its protracted design made it very difficult to use in the dark because the toilet was at the very far end and there was no nightlight to guide one the necessary 20-25 feet. I would suggest the Four Seasons install some night lighting feature to make nocturnal bathroom usage easier. The shower was excellent and the towels and toiletries were high quality. The bed was very comfortable and the linens of good quality. The staff was quite responsive to all requests. We notified them of the time we had to reach the airport and everyone was ready well in advance of when we needed to depart. Staying at the West Cliff is akin to staying at a friend’s elegant home and if we are again in Johannesburg, we will stay here again.

Website is misleading to the actual property . One of the worst four seasons hotel . Insects crawling in the bath tub , screeching sound of the shower , tv channels not working most of the time . Worst experience ever .
