Reviews for Thracian Cliffs Golf & Beach Resort

A unique bulgarian paradise

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Just come back from 5 days of golfing in Bulgaria staying here at tharcian cliffs resort. The whole place is brilliant, we apparently went in low season being july amd it was lovely that it was so quiet and peaceful and seemed like you had the whole place to yourself at times. The staff couldn't be more helpful, welcoming and friendly. Our apartment in hillside village was perfect and enough room for 4 adults to occupy. With all the amenities you need and clean daily. We ate at all the restaurants that were open as a couple were closed due to low season but all the food we had was delicious and served promptly. Agarta restaurant is lovely dining on the beach and relaxing after a hard days golfing, olivio was perfect for us for a quick bite while we were having a few drinks in the games room watching the football and playing some pool and cards and geti restaurant is just that little bit if extra pleasure looking over the sea on the cliffs, for abit of a fancier night. Unfortunately banbida beach restaurant wasn't open when we were there but maybe next time. Yes there are a few nit picky things I could say like there are a couple of bits that look ru down and need a little tlc but in some ways it adds to the character and in low season getting a quick lunch like a sandwich can be a pain and the grocery store is non existent but there is a n8ce little shop thst does snacks and cold drinks next to the proshop thst definitely comes in handy. Last note is the 4 pools available are perfect to lounge around in and relax and like I say we had these pretty much to ourselves. I done another review for the golf course so wont mention that much but wow. If you enjoy golf then that place is paradise. All In all I cant fault the place. 100% worth a visit as it very unique.

Wouldn’t return

We stayed for 2 nights so my husband could play 2 rounds of golf, he said the course was good and in really good condition, he hired clubs and a buggy and brought golf balls all from the pro shop. The rest of the resort is very tried our apartment was in need of a full update, everything is looking a bit tatty and clearly has had no maintenance for sometime, our balcony had peeling paint all over it the patio furniture smelt of old wicker, the fridge was all rusty around the bottom of the door the bathroom was ok, the wardrobes had stained on the door and the edges where peeling off, the sofa in the lounge that can be used as a bed was covered in stains, you wouldn't want to sit on it never mind sleep on it, I have never seen so many flys and insects i was killing them by the second. There was no normal teabags provided just fruit ones you do get a coffee machine to use but no milk and the shop onsite is empty and closed. The restaurants are overpriced and the service isnt good one night we were the only people in the resturant and the food was still cold when it arrived. The pool areas look good at first sight but on closer inspection there was broken tiles on the floor and all the grout had cracked around the edges it was just generally tatty, the larger beach wasn't open even though it was advertised open and let us book the resturant only to arrive and be told we couldn’t eat there. The small beach is good you have to pay for the beds and umbrella 27 euros the beach could have been cleaner as you are walking though green seaweed to get in the water. For £250 per night the resort needs major investment i am sure in its day it was stunning but it has been just been left to rot, we couldn’t wait to return to our hotel secerts in sunny beach which is amazing and a true 5 star hotel, my advice would be to play golf and stay somewhere else and save your money.

Think twice before coming again.

The service is very poor comparing with last years. The orders at the restaurant are an adventure, you never know when or if you’ll get your order. The buggy service to the beachfront is very poor, with very long sainting times both ways.

Nice place... bad experience!

We wanted to have the experience of a dinner by the sea... unfortunately a beautiful place with mediocre service, the food came cold, upon arrival we went with the golf cart from the reception to the Aghata restaurant, on the way back no one came to pick us up... and let's not forget the high bill in relation to the services and the food... a shame for the beauty of the place!

Most Scenic course I have played

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The course is spectacular and pretty tough all along the cliffs. The tee shots are scary from the tee, but actually if I played it again I would be less scared as you have more space than you think. But mis the fairways and it’s a lost ball. The clubhouse experience doesn’t match the course, as it is very disjointed.
