Wonderful For Our First Time in New England
The WBI has a great location. The cottages on the water are great for privacy and comfort. Dining is wonderful with a lot of attention to detail. The staff works very hard to make your stay a good one. It is expensive so expect a lot.

Look somewhere else!!!!!
We are scheduled to check in this Sunday, but Kennebunkport is expecting a nor’easter with severe weather and coastal flooding, which is especially concerning because we booked a boathouse accommodation. We asked the hotel either to reschedule our stay—without requesting a refund—or to move us to another of its properties. Although we understand the 14-day cancellation policy, these are extenuating circumstances. We ultimately canceled after being told that we would receive a refund for any nights the room was rebooked, though that seems highly unlikely. The hotel is now saying we would receive only a credit at White Barn. For a property that claims to provide a high level of service, our experience has been extremely disappointing. We also had 4 nights booked at a Martha's Vineyard hotel and they were move than accommodating given the weather issues. I would seriously think twice about staying at this hotel chain, we certainly will not.

Mosquito Infested Room in “Luxury Hotel”
It started with broken AC at check-in. We didn’t complain or request a room change because they put window AC units in and we don’t like to complain. But swatting at mosquitoes and trying to sleep while hearing buzzing is at a different level. We would have been better in a tent with netting in Acadia! We complained at the front desk throughout and were told maintenance would be sent. No follow-up was provided for what they did (if anything), and the mosquitoes got worse! Management did nothing to apologize or compensate us for the terrible experience. At checkout, the receptionist said it “wasn’t the experience they hope for” and that prior to finalizing the bill, she would talk to the managers and they would call. We never heard from anyone and they put through the full charge the next day. It’s a beautiful area, but find another hotel because this doesn’t live up to Auberge reputation.
