Reviews for Kenwood Inn and Spa

Customer service that is above and beyond - beautiful, spacious and cozy

We live in the Bay Area, and Kenwood Inn and Spa is one of our fave getaways, especially in the winter. They have a pool-sized hot tub with a fountain, which allows for year-round outdoor lounging. The greenery on the grounds is truly spectacular. The rooms are unusually spacious, the fireplaces extra cozy... and the huge breakfast is one of the best. During this last visit, we were automatically upgraded to a room with a balcony and view of the pool. There was some construction noise ( we understand, you have to upgrade), and were reminded that the real star of Kenwood is the staff. I could go on about everyone, from the front desk staff to the concierge to the chef and the crew who kept the place beautiful, but they really genuinely worked to make our stay pleasant in a way I have rarely, if ever, experienced in a hotel. They just really care about their guests.

kenwood inn is a beautiful property. each room has its own outside entrance. the rooms are well appointed with gas fireplaces, luxurious sheets and towels, and coffee service. we loved the warming pool, breakfast, evening wine tastings, and the spa. the staff is courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable about the property and area. great wineries and restaurants within a mile.

Super wonderful except…

This was a wonderful place to stay. Beautiful grounds and building. Very nice rooms and en-suite. The staff are friendly and the vibe is chill. However, two things I found a little off putting: (1) The French doors are covered by a curtain from the inside of the room, should you want privacy. Great. But if you leave to go anywhere, you can’t close the curtains, so anyone can come to your room (easily accessible) and look through the French doors and see what they might be interested in stealing. This is because you can’t shut the curtain from the outside and it’s in a rigid rod. So when you leave, everyone can see inside your room. The other issue for me was (2) I don’t know what laundry soap they use to clean towels, but even “fresh” towels gave an offensive odor. When they are dry, it’s not obvious. But once they have moisture, it’s very obvious. My husband and I thought maybe they weren’t washed. They were. It’s an unpleasant odor. I would definitely come back and I’d highly recommend it. Just bring your own towels and keep mindful of your privacy.

An Excellent Place to Stay in Sonoma

We stayed here for 6 nights and it was the perfect jumping off point for all the things we wanted to do in the area. Our room was on the second floor and had both a patio in the front and a balcony (overlooking the hot tub area) in the back. Both these seating areas were great as the furniture was comfortable for sitting and reading. Our room had several windows that had screens and could be opened to let in the fresh air and enjoy birdsong. Our king-sized bed was comfortable and had more pillows than we knew what to do with. The towels were plush and thirsty and the robes were so comfortable, we saw many people wearing them throughout our stay, even at breakfast. Plenty of drawers and places to store clothing and luggage in the room, so no tripping over things in the middle of the night! Our bathroom could have used more counter space or maybe drawers in the sink for our personal toiletries. The chairs and table near our fireplace made it a great place to relax in the evening. The morning breakfasts were always excellent. The rotating items included breakfast burritos, scrambled eggs, and mini quiches. Freshly baked croissants, fruit, granola, Greek yogurt, overnight oats, and bagels were always available. The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. Parking is adequate for the number of rooms for guests. We never tried the evening wine tasting as we had dinner reservations to get to, but did occasionally have a glass of port to end the day. All staff members were helpful and pleasant. My husband had a massage and said that the spa was very clean and the staff was professional. If we're ever able to get back to the area again, we will definitely stay here.

I surprised my wife with a trip to the Kenwood Inn and Spa for her birthday. The facility is first-rate and I would highly recommend it. The only problem is that now I have set the birthday expectations of my wife at an incredible level!
