The Punch Line We chose KHI over the Sun Valley Lodge because of the better pool situation for our children. On that front, I think we made the right choice. Having stayed at the Lodge a couple of time previously, the pull of the village and the entire ecosystem is undeniable. My wife missed being able to stroll the shops in the village without having to get in the car. We probably wouldn’t stay here again, it felt like a two star hotel with a few frills and really good service. For the money they're charging, there's no value for money. It didn’t help that snow was nonexistent during our stay. Rooms Rooms seemed worn. We stayed for a week and switched to a fire place during our stay. So, we got to see two different rooms and room categories. Both rooms showed visible signs of wear. Walls banged up and in need of paint. Low quality furnishing in need of repair and broken parts in our mini fridge. Breakfast Breakfast was excellent by American standards. Made to order eggs, plus daily specials (pancakes, frittatas etc.) Service Service was a real highlight throughout the hotel. Whether it was front desk, ski staff, shuttle drivers, staff all our interactions were really positive. Employees really seemed happy to be there and pleased to accommodate guests. Pool The highlight of any hotel or vacation for our four and a half year old daughter is the pool. The main reason we booked KHI vs the Sun Valley Lodge was KHI’s indoor pool. The pool was smallish, but decently maintained. Also, we frequently had the place to ourselves or shared with one other family. A couple of complaints, guests have to walk outside to get to the pool, this isn’t ideal with young children (especially as the hotel doesn’t provide robe and slippers for children). In addition, you had to walk in your swimsuit/robe through the restaurant are to get from your room to the pool and back. Definitely awkward. Also, if you’re going to have a sauna, leave the heat on during pool hours. It took 30 minutes for the thing to heat up, so it was functionally useless and no sauna bucket or ladle all week.

There are many nice places to stay in Sun Valley, but if you want personal attention and feel like you are someone more than just a visitor stay here! It felt more like a boutique hotel where everyone made sure your stay was perfect. :)

My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Knob Hill Inn. From check-in to check-out, everything was handled smoothly, professionally, and with care. Attractive facilities, very responsive shuttle service to ski slopes/town, and with a wonderful/dedicated staff and management. We recommend the Knob Hill Inn. Will H.

This quiet little boutique hotel delivers a great value. The beds are very comfortable with very soft linens. the wood burning fireplace is great to sit next to and read. The on site restaurant is excellent and very popular. Breakfast has outstanding choices which changes each morning. Cookies in the late afternoon finish off a great day of skiing. We will be back next year!

We stayed in room 417, a suite on the top floor. Despite being next to the elevator, it was very quiet. The room itself was very spacious and nice. It was possible to watch TV in the living room while the spouse slept in the bedroom. There was a small refrigerator, suitable for storing some wine. Room service only was available during the restaurant's operating hours. The restaurant ("The Grill") was excellent. Customer service was terrific; there was never a wait for the shuttle service. All of the personnel were great. We would certainly stay here again; actually, I don't think I would bother even looking for anywhere else to stay for Sun Valley.
