Not a 4 star resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This place is maybe a 2 star. We arrived at 430 to check in. Room was not ready. Front desk was unapologetic like it was the norm for them. After complaining they comped a drink for us at the bar . Room was ready about 530 and they did offer a $50 credit. I am a diamond member who spends about 160 nights a year at Hilton properties. The digital key was not working and the phone systems were down. Next we go to the elevators. Only 1 worked the whole time we were they and as you can imagine 1 elevator with 220 rooms kept people waiting..quick hint.. press the down button to go up and call the elevator. Get to the room.. it was nice but walls extremely thin we could hear everything next door. The resort has paint peeling off the building everywhere. The beach was covered in seaweed and yes I know the resort can’t control that but I know most 4 and 5 star resorts remove the seaweed daily. Pool service was slow had to go to the bar and get my own drinks. Ice machine was out the entire stay on the 4th floor. My wife and I were celebrating our 25th anniversary and 2 weeks before our trip I reached out to the hotel to see if they had any recommendations. They took my email and I never heard anything. I called back after a week and the front desk said it was fine as long as I cleared it with security. Then a week later I get an email from Blaire giving me a list of photographers 4 days before we arrived.?? I had already hired a photographer based off what I was told. I gave Blaire the time and photographer name and they gave me the ok. Well while we were sitting at the pool we noticed them setting up for a wedding. I went to the front desk and Anisa said we would not have access to the beach for pictures. I told her this place sucks.. and she rolled her eyes and just basically did nothing but say she would text Blaire. Luckily our photographer was flexible and we were able to find an alternate location. When we returned that evening Anisa had a bottle of Prosecco in our room with a note apologizing. The staff is very low energy and just seem to not care with the exception of the valet and Willow at the front desk. They also had my bill wrong, but Willow corrected it quickly. I would absolutely not spend $700 a night at this place. I suggest you find another place to stay. The pictures they post are not what the property looks like.

Girls long weekend

Hotel location is awesome right near upper Duval. The beach here and at the sister property Casa Marina are gorgeous with assistants to set you up. The poolside service with drinks and food was a great luxury! Food and drinks were divine. The room was beautiful and very clean. There were some slight inconvenience items such as not having all the elevators working, running out of conditioner and lines in the lobby at check in/out. I would definitely go back.

Not worth the expense! Good location but not 4- Star Curio by any means

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Went April 2024. Read a lot of mixed reviews before going (as with any hotel) but overall I would say this is a very expensive hotel and not worth what you get. Positive: they "upgraded" our king studio room, which was large. Cleaning staff did a good job when they would come through and the hotel staff overall were very nice. There is a golf cart rental shop across the street which is convenient, along with a liquor store/bar and a couple nice restaurants on the water within walking distance. Negatives: elevator still broken (saw this in a review that was posted months ago as well). Hotel appears to be falling apart for a 4-star curio hotel, sheets were scratchy (which would be fine if I was paying $100-$200/night and not $650/night), if you bring a car you either must pay $45/night for valet or find street parking, pool water was disgusting (you could see a white film floating in the corner every day) and its very small, the beach is used by a jet ski tour company so at the beginning and end of the day there are 40 jet skis (i counted) buzzing around you. We spent most of our time walking around checking out the keys so the room was good for that but for the price it was very expensive and no where near 4-star curio level.

Nice Beach Hotel... but Not a 'Spectacular' Beach Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

The Reach Key West has the potential to be a '5-bubble' hotel...and were it not $850+ per night, I would have considered writing a '5-bubble' review...but, with a high price point, expectations are also high - very high - and anything short of spectacular delivery on all fronts - facilities, food, rooms, service, location - is not going to pass the 'flawless' bar. The Reach Key West location is great - on the south east end of the island, it's walking distance to sights, restaurants, and upbeat Duval Street. It has a wonderful natural sand beach - well groomed and clean - that does not feel over crowded even when the Hotel is at capacity. The private sand beach is a major draw for this hotel - most properties just have a pool - and I suspect it's a factor which lends support to the high per night price point. The pool and pool area are small, but nice and clean, right next to the beach and the restaurant - did not feel overcrowded. There are lawn games available (cornhole, bocce, etc) next to the pool. Grounds are kept clean and in good condition. Interior common facilities are less praiseworthy. Aside from the main lobby, the courtyards and corridors to the rooms feel a bit shabby and in need of better cleaning and a refresh. Lots of noticeable rust that needs painting-over (...ok, fine, it's seaside in the tropics). Feels a bit like a roadside motel outside the rooms. There are two elevators, but one of them wasn't working, and you're better off using the stairs unless you want to wait. The one elevator that did work could use a deep clean. Rooms were well appointed, comfortable, and generally quiet with refrigerator, TVs, bed, room safe... but nothing you wouldn't also find at a well managed 3-star property. In terms of housekeeping, rooms were clean - average, not spotless; the places that typically get overlooked in US properties by the housekeeping staff were missed here too (couches, shower/bath floors and fixtures, chairs, room corners and baseboard areas, tops of and under furniture could be better). Some room fixtures need TLC or repair... Front desk service is an area where I would give this property high marks. The team at reception was very polite, professional, and willing to help. You likely won't get an early check-in out of them...and a 4PM check-in time is really pushing the boundaries of reasonable...but the staff at the front desk are very friendly and otherwise willing to do their best to improve your stay. ...However, service details matter at this price point. I requested the sofa bed in my suite be made up and ready at check-in 2 times prior to my stay...even got confirmation in writing that the request was received. But, the sofa-bed was not made up when I entered the room, and it took 2 hours, 2 phone calls, and 1 text message to guest services to get it done... In summary - my family and I had a very nice time. This is a perfectly nice hotel property, with good location, friendly staff, clean rooms, and comparably nicer beach and recreation facilities than similar area properties. If the price point were not comparable to a 5-star all inclusive, I would have reviewed it '5 bubbles'. However, The Reach does charge a very high nightly rate, and when you start to compare the experience you get for the same price at other beach destinations around the Caribbean, it's hard feel like your expectations are entirely met here.

Terrific Stay!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Seriously, we booked this hotel particularly so we could use points but we were also impressed by the pictures here. Our stay didn’t disappoint! Our room was at back of the hotel. Getting there was as if we were walking through a long maze. Our poor view wasn’t an issue as we were hardly in our room. The room was clean and nicely remodeled but there were a couple of details I was disappointed with at this level of hotel. Not enough functioning USB ports or outlets for four adults. There was only a desk chair in the room. Our toilet was not ADA height and the handle needed to be held down in order to flush. Outside grounds were incredible, private and inviting. We spent a dedicated amount of time on the private beach and in the pool, relaxing. The service was amazing! All the staff were very friendly and quite attentive! What better way to wake up and enjoy breakfast on the patio of 4 Marlins?!?! The variety of menu options was impressive including healthier options such as Chia pudding, fruit and yogurt parfait and Avocado toast. We would definitely return!
