I could only rate our stay at the Europe average. The hotel itself is beautiful inside and out but as for the staff and customer service, it lacked for a 5 star hotel. The staff were cold and almost clinical (it was like they were scripted) there was no personal approach or touch to their service. We were on honeymoon, let them know when we booked and there was not even a congratulations. We stayed in less than 5 start hotels while on our trip and the staff went over and above to help us feel special and celebrate, like what every hotel should do.

The setting of the Europe hotel and resort is simply spectacular! With acres and acres of well manicured grounds and gardens extending down to the lake, the views are stunning. We all took advantage of their wonderful swimming pools including the hot pool with the outdoor area and submerged bench. It's possible to lie on the submerged bench, gazing at the lake and distant pristine uninhabited mountains, press a button and have jets of water massage your back and neck. I wanted to stay forever! But the free horseback riding beckoned, so off I went to enjoy that. There are also bicycles and the darling town of Killarny is only a few kilometers away. Rooms are large with fluffy towels, robes and slippers. There are several large common areas with beautiful crystal and wood objects and modern rugs. The food in the restaurants is excellent and they have an extensive wine list. The breakfast buffet is extensive, with made to order eggs, all sorts of fruits and pastries, cheeses and meats, black and white Irish puddings, etc. The staff are friendly and helpful. Altogether a most delightful stay!

Ireland - Just go there !! Only an hours flight and then forget about the price and stay at this hotel. The views and scenery were breathtaking changing all the time as the clouds move and the vista comes alive. The hotel was superb , the spin classes with Alan were just an adventure with his enthusiasm and belief in the class, the luxury of the spa just complimented the superbly equipped gym and as for the pool , never such a view have I seen. The rooms were very spacious with a dressing area and a lakeside view and if the view wasn't enough to motivate an early rise then the breakfasts never disappointed with warm friendly chefs and attentive staff. If this all wasn't enough , how about a complimentary horse ride on a beautiful Palomino through the woods. Ireland a place to visit and cherish and with this luxury and style well worth saving up for again.

Last year someone had recommended The Europe to us for lunch in the Brasserie. We were “wowed“ by its setting on the edge of Lough Leane and the beautiful gardens and spa and we promised to return, which we did in July. What The Europe lacks in architectural elegance outside (it’s really not a pretty building) it more than makes up for in every way inside. You know when your stay is going to be good when every staff member that walks past you says hello and smiles. The interior styling is modern, crisp and elegant and our room was spacious, comfortable and immaculate with a large Queen size bed. Dinner in the Brasserie was good, but with no reservations, tables overlooking the lake go quickly so you can get stuck at the back of the brasserie – but it’s busy and bustling with an informal atmosphere and the food more than matched our expectations. After dinner drinks in the bar were accompanied by some live music, although there were not quite enough sumptuous leather chairs to go ‘round. Breakfast was in the aptly named Panorama Restaurant with magnificent views of the lake. Watch the weather roll in whilst your eggs are cooked almost any way you can think of, alongside a smorgasbord of breakfast delights (and more polite, smiling staff). Then, off to the spa with it’s indoor and outdoor hot pools and 20-meter pool. A great way to spend a relaxing and chilled morning in wonderful surroundings. Can’t wait to return again.
