Reviews for Woodmark Hotel, Yacht Club & Spa
My husband is in the Navy so we don’t get to see him much so when he got a weekend off, we decided to spend the night out of town since we couldn’t celebrate our anniversary and his birthday. The hotel was amazing and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

I find the Woodmark Hotel to be a perfect spot to relax, take walks along the lake. It has an old world feel that makes it especially comfortable. The next time I vist I'd like to check out the Spa and maybe one of the nearby restaurants.
This is one of our two go to places to stay on the east side. Very dog friendly with easy places to walk the dogs. Starbucks on site as well as three other great restaurants. Rooms are always clean and overall the rooms are very quiet.

1. Last year I bought a $500 gift card for my wife....asked multiple times if there would be ANY problems spending this for room or whatever (discounted rates, spa, ANY strings, policies or fine print)...answer was no problems! (You know where I am going with this.....) Booked room and credit card was charged full amount (not just holding amount) immediately. A call from my wife resulted in "our policy" (ouch...alway watch out for that lead statement) was this was booked over 30 days in advance..."discounted" (seemed to be same price as if we booked three days before coming...but not the point) AND no....no way to use gift card...goodbye. During the stay I call (husband) and am polite but POINTED. I ask for chain of command contact up to district management of the chain. They give me initial info and promise more contact info.... then ask "Is there a problem". Yes....I explain what I was told multiple times and what changed. They started out with the "policy" garbage again and I stated I will take it up with top management. Two minutes later I get a call back telling us to stop by the main desk and it will be charged to the gift card "for us". Special treatment for what should have been easy??? I make it clear that I appreciate the "policy" adjustment.... AND I will pursue a discussion with the "chain" execs so others will not have to go through this. Too many businesses get away with the "our policy..your bad luck" garbage and need to be called on the carpet. 2. When we showed up in their "loading zone" I unloaded a lot of luggage and for such a pricy place (now adding extra charges for pets compared to past ...charges to park...etc) NO ONE CAME OUT to help. So we are pushing and pulling and juggling to the door. After I am in the door a guy runs up and asks "do you want help with the luggage" (horrid timing...good question as I might have been a person who wants to inch along with so much stuff). I just said yes I would like help. Disappointing start. 3. After an expensive spa treatment for my wife .....the next day I asked my wife to compare it to two other "resort" level places we stay locally. She was disappointed in the lack of facilities (hot tub...etc) and particularly disappointed in the COLD massage table (c'mon towel heaters are cheap on Amazon!) along with no extra "bolt" (round pillow) to support knees when on back and ankles when on front (basic massage 101). All in all we had an ok time. But if we go back it will be because my wife likes the room layouts.....and she is the boss! I would NOT recommend this place.

My husband and I stayed here for a few nights and it was perfect. The rooms are cozy and the views are so beautiful! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We had dinner at restaurant next door, Bin on the Lake, and it was delicious. Would highly recommend this hotel. We will definitely be back!!
