At the opening in 2005, the Pezula Hotel raised the bar for luxury hospitality in South Africa. On the precipice of the Indian Ocean, a coastal hideaway invites travelers to this magnificent resort property. Apart from an internationally acclaimed golf course and award-wining Spa & Gym, the resort is home to a vast arrangement of recreational facilities. The sprawling green acres of the resort are a field of dreams for sports enthusiasts, boasting 4 tennis courts, archery and golf practice range, sports oval, and horse riding stables. The centerpiece of Pezula is the unspoiled beauty of your natural surroundings, the Pezula Hotel is your turn key to discovering the inner depths of sea and sun in South Africa.

We spent two wonderful days in Knysna — an absolutely beautiful part of the Garden Route, and overall a highlight of our trip. Unfortunately, our experience at Pezula Nature Hotel & Spa did not quite match the high standard of the rest of Knysna. To start with the positives: the hotel is very well located, and the physical property itself is impressive — spacious, scenic, and full of potential. On arrival, the reception staff were friendly and welcoming, which set a good initial tone. However, the dining and service experience fell noticeably short of expectations. Breakfast is advertised as à la carte, but in reality it felt more like a limited, self-assembled English breakfast. Bacon was not available, and I was informed this was due to the hotel catering for halaal preferences. While understandable, this was not clearly communicated beforehand. Even something as simple as ordering fried eggs required actively searching for a staff member, as very few were present. When assistance was eventually found, the interaction felt rather indifferent and unwelcoming. Dinner, although well presented, was disappointing in terms of flavour — visually appealing, but lacking substance. In contrast, the other hotels we stayed at along the Garden Route were excellent, both in terms of food and service, which made the gap at Pezula more noticeable. In summary, Pezula has a fantastic physical asset and an enviable location, but the dining experience and staff training need significant improvement to match the standard of the hotel itself

I travelled with a group of golfing friends and stayed in Room 16 from 10 to 14 April 2026. We all thoroughly enjoyed visiting Knysna in general and Pezula in particular. As a returning guest, I noticed management's attention to detail and dedication to maintenance (well done!). It is always great to see so many familiar friendly faces among the staff, which shows that they are well trained and properly looked after. Pezula remains a world-class golfing destination with plenty on offer for non-golfers too. The hotel runs like a well-oiled machine while still retaining a personal touch... and nothing beats those views! A massive thanks to Reinhardt and his team for another wonderful stay. We'll definitely be back soon.

Weve been coming to Pezula for more than 15 years and the staff have always been so friendly and welcoming but during our recent visit we had 3 separate incidents (one on the golf course, one in the club house and one in the hotel) in which the management have been unfriendly and unwelcoming almost to the point of hostility. Pezula appears to have lost the easy going relaxed manner that makes South Africa such a pleasant country to visit. Simola remains far more welcoming so we will go there in future.

It was the perfect relaxing getaway. My partner and I really unwound and enjoyed our stay to the fullest. I highly recommend the spa and their treatments—the staff are qualified and very professional! The food was excellent, from breakfast to dinner. We loved everything! Thank you! We’ll definitely be back and will recommend it to friends and family.
