Pimalai Resort & Spa in Ko Lanta, Thailand

Pimalai Resort & Spa is located on the southern tip of Koh Lanta, far from the north’s commercial buzz. Here the buzz comes from cicadas inhabiting dense tropical vegetation, where contemporary Thai-style rooms and villas nestle into the hillside. Rich orange, pink and lime green Thai fabrics complement dark teakwood flooring and rattan curtains, and throughout the property, pagodas and infinity pools conjure tranquility. At the base of the hills, a wide swath of white-sand beach leads to the Andaman Sea.

Lounge on a daybed on the shores of an azure bay and work up an appetite for lunch, a chicken salad sandwich with an Asian twist of pakchoy, lime and sweet chili dressing. Board a boat bound for Koh Lanta National Marine Park, whose rocky cliffs are home to mammoth monitor lizards and curious macaques. Hike in undisturbed wilderness. Return to the resort for a sundowner perched high above Ba Kantiang Bay.

Our 2nd time here, but everything was still perfect for my family. We are here to celebrate our wedding and when the hotel knows about this, we were surprised from what they provided us with surprised flower, wine, and cake. We are very much appreciated for their excellent service. We had food at all of hotel's restaurant, seven seas, spice and rice, and rak talay, we could say that all foods are very yummy with superb service-minded. Although price is quite high compared to other local surrounded, it is worth trying. Room condition is still very nice like new although we came here 2 years ago. Everything is still very new and comfort. Living room is very big, master bedroom is huge and bathroom is very awesome. Private pool is very big, not just few strokes. My kids really enjoy swimming. We got some problems with air-con in the living room and need to get technician to fix 2-3 times. However, finally, hotel management team can solve it properly and give us some complimentary discount. We are happy for the way hotel solved very professionally.

If you want to forgot the world and remember what "being" instead of "doing" is - then I highly recommend Pimalai Resort and Spa. My husband and I treated ourselves to the Hilltop Pool Villa to celebrate our 20 year wedding anniversary. The villa took our breath away - everything was amazing and so immaculately well kept. We even got to see two monkeys whilst staring off our balcony over the pool into the treetops. The staff are so delightful and helpful - we shared many laughs with them as they pampered us and looked after us with their gentle eye to detail. The breakfast was one of the best I have anywhere and the food in the restaurants was always delicious and of a high quality. I went to several yoga classes which were so peaceful and exactly what I needed. My husband and I had about 3 spa treatments each whilst at the resort - all of them regenerating, relaxing and amazing! A nice touch is looking into the jungle and sipping ginger tea for at least 15 minutes after your treatment. The view, the place, the people - everything really is a little patch of heaven.

Spend total 3 nights in different types of room (Beach villa and Deluxe room) at end of Sept. Apparently it is not really a good idea to visit Ko Lanta during the raining season. We ended up skipping the island hopping due to the bad weather. From Krabi airport, it took about an hour drive by resort van to reach the jetty. From jetty, a 20-30 minute boat ride to reach Ko Lanta island. Then follow by another 20 minutes drive to arrive at the resort. The resort has 2 parts, which are seaside (lower resort) and hillside (upper resort). Villa by the hillside provide a scenic view, where villa at lower part provide easier access to the beach. Nothing to shout about on the room design/décor if compare to other luxury resort in same range. But it is a big thumb up on the breakfast (great variety) and infinity pool over see the coast. Beach wise, it is nice except you might found some plastic waste wash up the shore.

The location of the resort at the west coast of Koh Lanta gives great sea view with many beautiful sunsets. The staff is highly motivated and serviceminded to give the best relaxing and pleasant experiences for your stay. It is a great gesture that free drinking water is served all day in adequate amount so you don't need to worry getting thirsty. We had a room in a villa with two levels unfortunately in the lower level where the view was partly hindered by the vegetation, however, the room was very beautiful, clean and nice. The elevation at the resort is rather steep but free transport service is offered in small vehicles so you didn't need to climb the stairs all the time. Breakfast was excellent with great choices of fruit, bread, coffee etc. etc. Many choices were organic which Pimalai ought to make more clear to the guests. In the evening we took dinner at the Rak Talai at the beach or at Banyan Tree where we enjoyed genuine Thai Cuisine with eg. catch of the day at a quite fair price. Very recommendable. The included transportation from/to Krabi Airport with speedboat and bus was quite an experience by itself! Top service all over!!

We stayed in the beach villa for 3 was an amazing experience...the beach is pristine and not crowded...rooms are located amidst forest like setting... service is immaculate...the spa is superb and the infinity pool is the show stealer..we had dinner at all 4 restaurants...rak talay situated right on the beach had the most beautiful location...Banyan tree had Thai green curry to die for and Seven Seas was the classiest ...all in all a great rejuvenating experience for us...would highly recommend to anyone...its worth spending a small fortune here
