Kupu Kupu Phangan in Koh Phangan, Thailand

Borrowing its name from the phrase meaning "sand bar", the island of Ko Pha Ngan was once the favored retreat of Thai royalty. The smaller sister island to Koh Samui, Ko Pha Ngan is the ideal location for the isolated, romantic retreat of Kupu Kupu Phangan, Thailand's premier all-villa sanctuary on the sea. Opening December 1, 2012, Kupu Kupu Phangan takes the concept of an island holiday to new levels of comfort, style, and beauty. The hotel's 20 villas are uniquely designed to unite traditional Thai artistry with modern amenities and conveniences, culminating in an unforgettable vacation experience. Kupu Kupu Phangan's three categories of living accommodations includes: the charming wooden Seaview Pool Villa, the spacious Beachfront Pool Villa, and the tropically inspired Deluxe Beachfront Pool Villa. Each room is visually stunning with preferred amenities that help create a relaxed atmosphere, including a spa style bathroom, personal safe, satellite TV, and mini bar.

Despite its secluded, dreamy location, Kupu Kupu Phangan incorporates many exciting features of a five-star resort, like an on-site restaurant and spa. La Plague Restaurant serves up delicious regional cuisine, with bold flavors supplemented by fresh local seafood and ingredients indigenous to the land. The comfortable spa space is comprised of two double treatment rooms facing the hotel's infinity pool, perfect for a relaxing couple's massage, or any of the other therapies available on the spa's comprehensive menu of treatments. Guests may spend a day getting lost on the extensive stretches of beach surrounding the hotel, or take to the water for a fun-filled day at sea. No matter what your pleasure, Kupu Kupu Phangan has you covered. I had a lovely time at Kupu. The service was excellent and the staff was extremely accommodating. The hotel is conveniently located from everywhere you want to be. The pool is to die for. Get ready for all of your fringe to be extremely jealous of the palmed sunset photos. It’s really an extraoirdinwlty place to see a sunset. The pool was so unique. Multiple private ledges to relax, shaded oeragolas. Did not get spa services this time around but will next time!

What a gorgeous resort - the infinity pool, the beach, the restaurant, the lobby, the rooms, the list goes on and on. We spent three nights here and the staff did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The restaurant on site is delicious (truly) - pricier, obviously, than local joints but at least the food is bomb. Charges for other amenities are super reasonable. Scooter rental for 250 baht/day (same cost as from all of the other rentals we saw on the street) and laundry was only slightly more expensive (so worth it - 220 baht for ~9 kg). Love this resort and can't wait to come back!

Beautiful garden, tasty breakfast and very friendly staff. Good, calm atmosphere in resort. Villas well equiped and clean. It is not crowded place, in my opinion it is good place for people who want to relax and listen to birds and nature.

The hotel is located in a beautiful quiet place, Which is nice for the people who seek for relaxation. The outside is absolutely amazing and that what we saw in the pictures, but the hotel itself and the villas are old and old fashioned. the room painted in dark colors, which gives uncomfortable feeling while staying in. In the room there is two small air conditioning that cool the room(which has a very high ceiling) after long time. The shower was renovated but still it isn’t close to the other hotels in that category that we’ve been in our toor. We stayed at the sea view villa, which have a tiny glimpse of sea view. The pool looked dirty and we didn’t even thought to get in. It was our last hotel in our trip and we didn’t have the power to argue and get a refund or cancellation for it. And last - the breakfast- it was awful! There was no verity, They used caned mushrooms and Everything tasted not good. I needed to call the desk office to remind her to cancel the really overrated security deposit in the amount of 5000 baht!! Overall it wasn’t what we expected to when we saw the pictures and reviews. It is definitely not worth the money. I really think it was nice 10 years back, and just didn’t got renovated ever. All of the hotels we’ve been in, progressed and it seems like this hotel got stuck. The best thing about this hotel was the near resort with the amazing view at sunset - blue Rama. And the very very nice man that have bracelets in his teeth that I can’t remember his name. he helped us so much. NOT RECOMMENDED and really wish we could get our money back for deceiving with the room description.
