Kupu Kupu Phangan in Koh Phangan, Thailand

Borrowing its name from the phrase meaning "sand bar", the island of Ko Pha Ngan was once the favored retreat of Thai royalty. The smaller sister island to Koh Samui, Ko Pha Ngan is the ideal location for the isolated, romantic retreat of Kupu Kupu Phangan, Thailand's premier all-villa sanctuary on the sea. Opening December 1, 2012, Kupu Kupu Phangan takes the concept of an island holiday to new levels of comfort, style, and beauty. The hotel's 20 villas are uniquely designed to unite traditional Thai artistry with modern amenities and conveniences, culminating in an unforgettable vacation experience. Kupu Kupu Phangan's three categories of living accommodations includes: the charming wooden Seaview Pool Villa, the spacious Beachfront Pool Villa, and the tropically inspired Deluxe Beachfront Pool Villa. Each room is visually stunning with preferred amenities that help create a relaxed atmosphere, including a spa style bathroom, personal safe, satellite TV, and mini bar.

Despite its secluded, dreamy location, Kupu Kupu Phangan incorporates many exciting features of a five-star resort, like an on-site restaurant and spa. La Plague Restaurant serves up delicious regional cuisine, with bold flavors supplemented by fresh local seafood and ingredients indigenous to the land. The comfortable spa space is comprised of two double treatment rooms facing the hotel's infinity pool, perfect for a relaxing couple's massage, or any of the other therapies available on the spa's comprehensive menu of treatments. Guests may spend a day getting lost on the extensive stretches of beach surrounding the hotel, or take to the water for a fun-filled day at sea. No matter what your pleasure, Kupu Kupu Phangan has you covered. Come discover all the colorful nuances of a space aptly named for nature's most beautiful, exotic creature--the butterfly-- at Kupu Kupu Phangan.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel, greeted with cold towels and delicious fruit juice, we have been treated like royalty. Nothing is too much trouble. I mentioned I had been unwell upon arrival and when we went to the restaurant they were aware of this, and very kindly made me a delicious rice and vegetable soup. Such a thoughtful thing to do, and it really helped! We have a beachside pool villa and it is beautiful. Everything you need is available in the room, which is cleaned to perfection every day by a very hardworking team. We had a delicious plate of exotic fruits on arrival, beautiful fresh flowers, and and there are complimentary small decanters of gin, vodka and whisky, together with tea/coffee machine. There is a well stocked mini bar with reasonable prices by UK standards! The gardens are full of gorgeous flowers, including orchids, bougainvillea, hibiscus, together with many different trees, including a coconut tree at the end of our patio! The food in the restaurant is very good, both breakfast and lunch/dinner. We haven’t had a bad meal since we arrived, and we have only eaten here. The staff serving the pool and restaurant area are all excellent, ever helpful and smiling. This morning I was slightly struggling to open my butter portion and it was suddenly done for me! Fans are arranged to cool us down as soon as we sit down. How everyone manages to work so hard and be so cheerful in such heat is amazing. There are themed evenings sometimes, and the other evening we had a fantastic French singer to entertain us. We had the most amazing Balinese couples massage at the l’Occitane Spa which was a great experience. The ladies at the spa are, like everyone else, a delight. The pool area is lovely and there are various places to lie/sit and relax, and drinks are not over priced, and even better from 4-6pm when it’s Happy Hour! If you see an offer and are wondering whether to come, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a stay here. Thank you to everyone who has made our week so special.

From start to finish, the greatest customer service experience I have ever received. Arrived late at night via private speed boat from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan and was greeted with a pomegranate drink and fruit in a cocktail stick and shown around the hotel. The hotel is spectacular, absolutely stunning in every way, and the resort has thought of absolutely everything. Amazing shampoo, conditioner and body wash by L’Occitane in the hotel showers, mosquito repellant spray in the rooms (ours was stronger and better though), air conditioning in the rooms, and the view at the hotel is out of this world, truly breathtaking. The customer service we received here from all staff was outstanding, they went above and beyond to help you every second of the day, amazing. Will highly recommend this amazing resort at this beautiful island in Thailand to everyone I know, and we got an amazing deal through voyage prive. So satisfied after spending 8 days here. Highly recommended!

I had a lovely time at Kupu. The service was excellent and the staff was extremely accommodating. The hotel is conveniently located from everywhere you want to be. The pool is to die for. Get ready for all of your fringe to be extremely jealous of the palmed sunset photos. It’s really an extraoirdinwlty place to see a sunset. The pool was so unique. Multiple private ledges to relax, shaded oeragolas. Did not get spa services this time around but will next time!

What a gorgeous resort - the infinity pool, the beach, the restaurant, the lobby, the rooms, the list goes on and on. We spent three nights here and the staff did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The restaurant on site is delicious (truly) - pricier, obviously, than local joints but at least the food is bomb. Charges for other amenities are super reasonable. Scooter rental for 250 baht/day (same cost as from all of the other rentals we saw on the street) and laundry was only slightly more expensive (so worth it - 220 baht for ~9 kg). Love this resort and can't wait to come back!

Beautiful garden, tasty breakfast and very friendly staff. Good, calm atmosphere in resort. Villas well equiped and clean. It is not crowded place, in my opinion it is good place for people who want to relax and listen to birds and nature.
