Located south of Bangkok in the "Land of Smiles," the picturesque island of Koh Samui is home to some of the world's most beautiful beaches, temperate rainforests, and stunning shorelines. With the addition of Banyan Tree Samui, Koh Samui is now home to the "Best New Beach Resort Hotel" as named by the elite Condé Nast Traveller Hot List 2011. The resort's breathtaking exterior rises above the shimmering Gulf of Thailand amidst cascading treetop terraces on an isolated hill cove. Banyan Tree Samui boasts an all villa-resort; each generously proportioned living space impressively combines aspects of traditional Thai-style architecture with modern planning and design, such as the steep, raised rooftops, striking floor-to-ceiling windows, and its own elevated, private pool. The beautiful, expansive grounds are surrounded by the lush, aromatic foliage of the region, making it the picture perfect backdrop for every celebration of life: birthdays, weddings, romantic getaways, and everything in between.

My wife and I spent 5 nights in a Royal Ocean Pool Villa and our stay was fabulous. The villa was incredible and exceeded my expectations. Our host Abby was so lovely and available for all of our requests. The airport transportation was flawless and very comfortable. The spa is incredible with great treatment options and wonderful staff. We experienced two treatments and loved them. The dining was also a highlight: Breakfast as full of choice from tradition western breakfast to a great selection of Asian dishes. I loved having noodle soup on the terrace in the morning, it became my daily ritual. The beachside restaurant as so good for lunch - the satay, the fried shrimp rolls, the pad Thai, all really tasty and delicious. We enjoyed dinner at Saffron twice during our stay and enjoyed it, the portions are large and we didnt finish our dishes either night. The beach is a perfect size for the resort, my only complaint, if you could call it that was that the water was as too cloudy to snorkel right from the beach. There is a reef right at the beach and water shoes are available and suggested. We only visited the pool on our last day, but it was perfect.

My wife and I have just returned back to the UK, having stayed at this lovely resort for just under 2 weeks. As you will see from the Banyan Tree website, the hotel is nestled away in a lush green tropical forest, with its own private beach. We stayed in a Royal Banyan Ocean Pool villa which was very well appointed, offering a great and unobstructed view of the bay. All staff (without exception) were friendly, engaging and had a real positive energy about them. The food choice selection at all restaurants was plentiful and presented to a very high quality standard. Both restaurants (Safron and Sands) provided their own unique dining experience, in an ambient atmospheric setting. The Spa offered a wide range of treatments and the rain forest experience was a nice additional feature. We chartered the Banyan Tree boat for an 8 hour excursion to the National Park. This cost us £1300. Unfortunately what should have been the highlight of our holiday, turned out to be hugely disappointing, owing to high winds and poor sea state conditions. The visibility for snorkelling was not good and we only had 35 minutes on a beach owing to the amount of time it took us to reach our destination (owing to the high waves). It is my understanding the boat is operated by a third party. Banyan Tree did offer us compensation without hesitancy, but I would avoid booking the boat if the weather is poor. Complete waste of money. Back to the resort, If you’re looking for peace and tranquility, in an exclusive private setting then I would highly recommend the Banyan Tree without hesitation. We hope to return again very soon. For the attention of the General Manager, my wife and I would like to pay particular thanks to the following members of staff who went above and beyond to make our trip that little more special and memorable. We stayed for 4 nights with two couples of friends. I would like to note that the three couples were unanimous that the next time we are in Koh Samui, we will only stay at the Banyan Tree Hotel. Perfect hotel, amazing rooms with amazing private pools, the hotel's general pool is outstanding, the food is of the highest level, the breakfast is wonderful, we have never encountered a level of service as we experienced at this hotel!!! Simply perfect!!! In short, highly recommended with all my heart. Nir Cohen

A wonderful resort, great location, spectacular villas, very clean and comfortable. Beautiful beach, warm pool. Delicious breakfasts, a wide selection of dishes, and above all, professional staff. Golf and Fern at the front desk were very helpful. Wonderful waiters in the restaurant: Paris, Nene, Bua, Dev—you're all great. Thanks to Tong from my son for the great thai boxing training.

This was our third visit to the Banyan Tree in Koh Samui and we are looking forward to visiting again! We loved the villa with our own private pool and spa overlooking the ocean. It was the perfect place to be secluded and escape reality. The spa is incredible. The whole family had a massage treatment and all agree they are 10/10. Thanks to everyone at the Banyan Tree for another amazing holiday
