Banyan Tree Samui in Koh Samui, Thailand

Located south of Bangkok in the "Land of Smiles," the picturesque island of Koh Samui is home to some of the world's most beautiful beaches, temperate rainforests, and stunning shorelines. With the addition of Banyan Tree Samui, Koh Samui is now home to the "Best New Beach Resort Hotel" as named by the elite Condé Nast Traveller Hot List 2011. The resort's breathtaking exterior rises above the shimmering Gulf of Thailand amidst cascading treetop terraces on an isolated hill cove. Banyan Tree Samui boasts an all villa-resort; each generously proportioned living space impressively combines aspects of traditional Thai-style architecture with modern planning and design, such as the steep, raised rooftops, striking floor-to-ceiling windows, and its own elevated, private pool. The beautiful, expansive grounds are surrounded by the lush, aromatic foliage of the region, making it the picture perfect backdrop for every celebration of life: birthdays, weddings, romantic getaways, and everything in between.

Supreme facilities and resort amenities take Banyan Tree Samui to the highest peaks of luxury and elegance, while offering an unparalleled experience every member of the family can enjoy. Travel through The Rainforest, no, not the jade jungle surrounding the hotel, but the resort's hydrotherapy experience that combines the finest European spa treatments with "the essence of Asian wellness philosophy" to create a sanctuary of spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being. A daily Kid's Club offers age and size appropriate activities for children aged 4-12 years, including Thai dance classes, supervised outdoor activities, and arts & crafts. The entire resort is outfitted with wireless Internet, so whether you need to buckle down in a Boardroom or schedule dinner reservations, you are never too far from everything you need to get your work done in the safety and comfort of Banyan Tree Samui. Or, if you choose to unplug and leave work behind, take a relaxing turn in the yoga room. Perfect your sun salutation at dawn, or request a special session to meet your yoga needs with a certified instructor. Spend the day on Lamai Bay, the private, serene sand beach surrounding Banyan Tree Samui, and savor the surroundings of a true island paradise.

The hotel and resort are a paradise on earth! All good things you have heard about Thailand you'll for sure find at the Banyan Tree Samui. The resort is built in harmony with the nature and enables its guests the seeded and well deserved privacy in a luxurious environment. We arrived relatively late (around 10PM) and had a very warm welcome from the reception staff. The check-in process took place at the bar/lounge in the main building with a welcome drink. We have booked a Family Ocean View Villa with a stunning view on the bay and 180° view at the entire resort. The Family Ocean View Villa has two rooms, one in the main villa and a second room in a separate little hut, connected by a sun deck and lounge. A private infinity pool and heated whirlpool were the cherry on the top. The main villa is spacious with a living room, master bedroom (king size bed) and bathroom including a bathtub and rainforest shower. The second room in a hut next to the main villa contains two single beds and bathroom. Both locations have a open view at bay and were very clean! The resort offers three restaurants and bar locations with a very friendly staff and client oriented service. On restaurant is specialized in traditional Thai kitchen (visited twice) while the other two restaurants have a wide range of western European dishes. Don't stay in your villa for the breakfast as you would miss an amazing breakfast in the main restaurant including Japanese and Chinese dishes. The staff is very attentive, friendly and is trying to read your wishes from your eyes. The spa at the resort is very expensive in relation to treatments outside of the resort but it worths (we had a full body scrub and massage and were really relaxed afterwards). As the resort is built on the hills around the bay and the distances might be a bit far, the 24/7 buggy service is available and can be used. The only criticism I would like to mention is the following: when booking a table for the Thai restaurant (Saffron) the guest relations advises you to follow the dress code "smart casual" as the location is described as a setting of understated elegance. Unfortunately nobody except us followed the set dress code what is very disappointing. Beside that these guests had very bad table manners and were on top of that very loud. Even after giving a feedback to the guest relations, who forwarded my complaint to the management, nothing has changed or has been commented by the hotel management. Obviously the dominant quota of Chinese guests are setting the standards, what is very annoying and disturbing for such a good hotel. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much and will be guests again at The Banyan Tree Samui for sure. A big "Thank You" to the very friendly Banyan Tree Samui staff.

Banyan Tree Samui is the best luxury hotel in the world. We had a great time at there. The staffs are friendly and especially our Villa host Kwan, she is the best. Kwan always assisted us and she gave us many surprises. For sure, We will recommend to stay in this hotel. Our Villa has facing the ocean and we can see sunrise in the morning.

This hotel is laying at a very beautiful bay, surrounded by stones like at the Seychelles! The view to the sea is very impressing and the water of the sea is colourful, turquoise. There are many villas with pools of their own. The support of the guests is grand! The stuff is working like a great family and the guests are included to this family! The breakfast is delicious with very different types of tastes.

Just spent 4 days at the Banyan Tree and was pleasantly surprised as I had seen some bad reviews, The service was excellent and the staff spoke fairly good English, which is a plus in this part of the world. No hesitation in recommending a stay here, if you enjoy a tranquil setting and nice surroundings.

The resort, staff and service all exceeded our expectations for our Honeymoon. Every staff member went above and beyond to make our trip one that we will remember forever. Highlights included: - Private pick up and drop off service to the airport in a luxury van equipped with WiFi and ice water. - Dedicated 'Vila Host' that you can contact 24/7 from the mobile phone given to you by the resort for the duration of your stay - Daily turn down service of the room which was invisibly scheduled while you are out of the room. This included a local organic snack, incense and mood lighting/music - Buggy service throughout the resort available within minutes of making the request The resort, service and people make Banyan Tree a must for anyone looking to find luxury, fine dining and privacy should look no further. In particular thank you to our resort host Kik who made our stay that much more pleasurable.
