Located south of Bangkok in the "Land of Smiles," the picturesque island of Koh Samui is home to some of the world's most beautiful beaches, temperate rainforests, and stunning shorelines. With the addition of Banyan Tree Samui, Koh Samui is now home to the "Best New Beach Resort Hotel" as named by the elite Condé Nast Traveller Hot List 2011. The resort's breathtaking exterior rises above the shimmering Gulf of Thailand amidst cascading treetop terraces on an isolated hill cove. Banyan Tree Samui boasts an all villa-resort; each generously proportioned living space impressively combines aspects of traditional Thai-style architecture with modern planning and design, such as the steep, raised rooftops, striking floor-to-ceiling windows, and its own elevated, private pool. The beautiful, expansive grounds are surrounded by the lush, aromatic foliage of the region, making it the picture perfect backdrop for every celebration of life: birthdays, weddings, romantic getaways, and everything in between.

Amazing resort complex, trees, sea, birds – perfect nature just as it should be for a vacation. All the hotel facilities are great, the room is huge, spacious, comfortable and beautiful. The service of the staff is simply perfect, exemplary hospitality from the moment of arrival to departure: A personal hostess, all the team on the beach, in the hotel restaurants, in the spa, the buggy drivers, perfect maid service twice a day and small gifts every day from the moment of reception at the hotel. A pampering vacation and high-level service. This is not "just another hotel". This is a perfect choice for those who want a real vacation.

Banyan Tree Koh Samui is a wonderful place to rest and enjoy the most stunning surroundings. Our family holiday was a great success. The family villa was very comfortable, clean and provided an amazing and large private space with a breathtaking view. The food was delicious - whether it was breakfast, lunch at the Beachside or dinner at Saffron. All the staff was very helpful and always smiling. Our villa host Pim took good care of us, especially making sure that our twins' birthday was an unforgettable day. We enjoyed relaxing at the beach, the spa massages and simply chilling at the villa.

When we first arrived the lobby, compared to other venues we have visited in Thailand looked a little uninspiring, but that was compensated for by the excellent villa. The grounds were very well cared for, the beach inviting and well organised, and the pool and the bars all very good. Thai people in my view have a flair for service, and everyone was more than helpful. The concierge service was good, the food , although expensive compared to outside, was top notch, well cooked and well presented. Breakfast can get a little crowded so I suggest you go before 8 if you can, 8.30 onwards gets busy , but you can get breakfast up to 11.00am. There were more kids than i expected, given the time of year and the obvious expense, but for the most part they were not an issue. The spa is good , the massages good, and the facilities top class. The gym had been refurbished and the equipment is all new. Pool service is good, towels plentiful, by the pool or the beach, and the bars well stocked. If you like to go outside a lot then it’s quite a walk to the first main drag, as the hotel is quite secluded. The dining service in villa is great. We saw 2 x weddings whilst there, and they looked amazing , and the on beach dining, if pricey looked very special. My long term concerns would be the villas, that are probably reaching the end of their useful life as they stand, and in 2/3 years will be in need of refurbishment. The higher villas have the advantage of better views, but the lower villas are nearer the beach and pool. You tend to travel around the resort by buggy, and they are quick and efficient.
