InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort in Koh Samui, Thailand

The InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort sits perched on the western coast of Thailand’s third largest island, boasting views of the Gulf of Thailand and the five islands beyond. The resort’s spacious rooms and villas are designed with traditional Thai features like vaulted ceilings, ornate fretwork, and intricate, open-air sala pavilions inspired by Buddhist temples. Baah Thai Spa sits nestled on a cliff overlooking Taling Ngam Bay, surrounded by a lush forest of banyan & palm trees. The spa specializes in relaxation treatments, utilizing local tropical elements, like Thai oil, kaffir lime leaf, and Samui Island Coconut husks. At Amber Restaurant, which overlooks the Gulf of Thailand, Master Chef Tao infuses Thai classics with his own style, dishing up rich Kurobuta Pork Chops. On the beach, guests can dine by lantern and torchlight at Flames Restaurant, specializing in curries and grilled seafood. The area’s seclusion, relaxed atmosphere, and reputation for brilliant sunsets earned The InterContinental Samui the title of “Leading Honeymoon Resort” in Asia.

Trek down to the Si Fah market with Master Chef Tao to pick out fresh ingredients like tiger prawns and barracuda , and learn how to prepare unique Thai dishes. Gaze out at the island and coastline from the 280-degree view inside Koh Samui’s very first infinity pool. Relax your senses with a holistic “Island Inspired Sand Jewels” treatment at Baan Thai Spa. Learn new tricks with a cocktail class at the scenic Air Bar. Indulge at Amber Restaurant with Rock Lobster Bisque and South Australian Lamb. Marvel at the island’s famed sunset from the comfort of your private terrace.

***Just for full disclosure, I am an IHG corporate employee*** From the very moment the driver met me at the airport it cannot be mistaken that this is a 5 star luxury venue. My transfer to the hotel was smooth and comfortable, with the driver seemingly fully aware of my exhaustion after a long flight from the UK! I was able to relax and take in the stunning scenery and re-hydrate with the complementary water provided for the journey. Arriving at the hotel around 45 minutes later, the entrance to the hotel is just unreal. Beautiful open views from the lobby to the ocean, just stunning. Check in was nice and fast and I was delighted to be informed my room was ready, even though i arrived very early in the morning well before check-in time. I stayed here for 2 weeks whilst doing an intense Muay Thai training camp at the nearby gym. I booked the IC in the hope that the luxurious venue and surroundings would ease the pain of the brutal training...and the IC seriously delivered! For me it was the small touches. It is without question that this is a high end resort but the little things really made it special. My room was spacious and light with a huge balcony and day beds to relax on. Every day fresh loofahs in the shower kits were provided, along with Spa quality bath salts and bubbles. It was super helpful to have the detergent packs provided as i needed to wash my stinky gym kit out daily! I LOVED the tea bags and tea-pot, the leaves were contained in beautiful cotton tea-bags and a great selection of herbal varieties which were constantly kept topped up. The 2 cup cafetiere was also a blessing with lovely pouches of coffee grinds, also refreshed regularly by the lovely maids. The little tea coasters were so sweet, really fresh and natural looking and i enjoyed tea on my balcony every single evening. My room was kept amazingly clean by the housekeeping team, fresh water and toiletries refreshed without fail every day. The shower was incredible, more like a wet room and i could take a shower whilst looking out at the ocean, watching the sunset!! And living as i do in a tiny flat, the enormous bathtub was heaven!! The bed was positioned so i could wake up looking out at the ocean which is just such a wonderful way to wake up. i didnt close my curtains the entire 2 weeks. The choice of pools is beyond belief - 7 in all! Mostly I'm a beach girl and went to the beachside pool most days. However, i discovered that the Blue pool up in the cliffs was most often deserted and i spent many afternoons there feeling like a princess with a private pool!! Truly a memorable experience. Towels and water provided at all of the pools. It was really a nice touch being passed a glass of iced water with lemon as soon as i got to the beach each day by the lovely pool team. The pier going into the sea is great, a nice way to get into the water without having to negotiate the little rocks. Crystal clear blue water with lots of fish swimming about, just too pretty. I have to say this is the most incredible hotel I have had the pleasure of visiting. Every single person working there always had a smile and took the time to say hello. The location is stunning, its a very quiet and natural area. I truly enjoyed every minute of my stay here and would break my travel rule for this hotel and visit the same place twice!

It's a five star hotel with the most stunning sunset I have ever seen. We were there for three nights staying at beach front pool villa. The villa was very nice despite a small pool. The beach is cleaned. Airbar was stunning because of the view over looking the ocean. Food was ok, good selection of wines. Staffs were very nice.

Obviously the hotel was top notch but after staying 5 nights we quickly ran out of things to do. So we needed guidance from a local... lucky for us.. We had an excellent Butler in the name of Steve. Booked everything for us from massages to Muay Thai fights in the city. Thank you very much.

The second we arrived at reception we were in awe. Views to die for. Beautiful. Without a doubt one of the best located hotels in the world. Stunning. Club worth every penny. Amazing staff - can't do enough for you. We loved it here and we will return. Quiet. Peaceful. Break. If you want to party go elsewhere. If you want a romantic getaway come here. đź’•

Very nice hotel with almost perfect service! Very friendly and very well trained personal. They all seemed happy and very professional. Our room was very clean and quite new. We had a nice view and private pool. Some other reviews indicate that the hotel is dated which I can not agree. The resort is large and have very nice gardens. To keep the hotel new for its size and location climate is not easy I suppose. The hotel offers free airport transfer for club rooms. We stayed an other hotel before at chaweng beach. They pick us up from another hotel without any problems. We used an offer for the beach front villa (from hotel own web page) with private pool. 3 nights stay- pay two nights. Even with the offer the room was very expensive but it was worth it (around 500 euros per night) (which is very expensive for Thailand) Check in and check out process was quick. The butler service is great. We would like to thank all the butlers for the service. Especially Seen, steve and Ball. We made a snorkel tour with the hotel speed boat ( around 100 Euros per person) Nice experience. The only critique was there is not enough English TV channels. Next time in Koh samui I would definitely stay there again.
