InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort in Koh Samui, Thailand
The InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort sits perched on the western coast of Thailand’s third largest island, boasting views of the Gulf of Thailand and the five islands beyond. The resort’s spacious rooms and villas are designed with traditional Thai features like vaulted ceilings, ornate fretwork, and intricate, open-air sala pavilions inspired by Buddhist temples. Baah Thai Spa sits nestled on a cliff overlooking Taling Ngam Bay, surrounded by a lush forest of banyan & palm trees. The spa specializes in relaxation treatments, utilizing local tropical elements, like Thai oil, kaffir lime leaf, and Samui Island Coconut husks. At Amber Restaurant, which overlooks the Gulf of Thailand, Master Chef Tao infuses Thai classics with his own style, dishing up rich Kurobuta Pork Chops. On the beach, guests can dine by lantern and torchlight at Flames Restaurant, specializing in curries and grilled seafood. The area’s seclusion, relaxed atmosphere, and reputation for brilliant sunsets earned The InterContinental Samui the title of “Leading Honeymoon Resort” in Asia.
Trek down to the Si Fah market with Master Chef Tao to pick out fresh ingredients like tiger prawns and barracuda , and learn how to prepare unique Thai dishes. Gaze out at the island and coastline from the 280-degree view inside Koh Samui’s very first infinity pool. Relax your senses with a holistic “Island Inspired Sand Jewels” treatment at Baan Thai Spa. Learn new tricks with a cocktail class at the scenic Air Bar. Indulge at Amber Restaurant with Rock Lobster Bisque and South Australian Lamb. Reviews for InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort
At first I was a bit reluctant to pick this location for the distance from the Airport as there are options in Chaweng. But when I know I was right when I stepped into the lobby and Serene Bar - the view is just magnificent. Another thing I love is how they are never under-staffed. I never have to wait in breakfast, buggy etc. And because of that, I can see the staff are happy and friendly with not just guest, but each other genuinely. I went at Chinese New Year and was told the occupancy is 90%. But I don't feel it as I always see there more staff than guest to be attended to. The design of the hotel are brilliant - only one main road from beach to the hill, which shorten the waiting time of buggy (or that I stayed on the beach so it's a frequently traveled spot, wondering if the hill-side villa is the same), unlike some other hotels like the Intercontinental in Danang (with 4 levels of roads). True, the restaurant might be pricey compare to those in Central Festival, but this is the trade off worth making, since otherwise it will be hard to always get whatever table you want in the hotel restaurants, all of which got great sea view. In room breakfast is highly recommended if you got a view to enjoy the morning, as the food options in the Amber might not be as extensive as one would expect. Special thanks to Nate my butler - Small things like getting Kalamae for us, preparing the sandwich my daughters love, finding the lost book my daughter left behind in kid's club (Look for Nim if you are there - she's great, loving, smiley and helpful!) and big things like finding a room for us to stay while waiting for the departure flight, or arranging a dinner plan while there was a big gala dinner which starts too late for my 2 years old to join. The staff in this hotel demonstrated true Thai hospitality - at one point I was using the main (big) toilet near the Serene Bar, and a staffed walked in and found that a guest was using it, he apologized and walked back out and let me use the whole space that I don't need. If I had to complain, I suggest to add a gate to the private lawn to the beachfront villa since there was a guy (not villa guest) with drone filming right in front of my villa for 20 mins who quickly got advised off to the pier side once I called it in. One last note to myself and readers here are do not missed out the chance to enjoy the sunset once in the Air Bar, once at the pier at least. Those are the moment you will never forget with your love ones. I am missing the place already and looking forward to my next stay in Easter there.

Wife and I have never been much East of Southend, in truth Greece is the furthest East, and so it was with trepidation that we flew to Thailand. A wait at Bangkok airport and then south to.the seaside. Picked up in hotel limo and whisked to paradise. The hotel is set on a cliff descending to the sea , a golden sandy beach. Staff all so charming and super helpful. Food wonderful, breakfast buffet a sight to behold. Such a tranquil setting.

Service is great since we step into reception, welcoming by Ms. Kate , Butler Manager and Front team has a good service mind. Not only surprising us with complimentary service for our special occasion but the resort itself surprises all guests with spectacular view on the shore, palm beach ,etc. Thank you for extraordinary and pleasure stay.
Don't hesitate. You won't be disappointed. The views, facilities, Thai food and outstanding service from all the staff will guarantee you won't want to leave. The resort is huge so we didn't ever feel it was overcrowded. I recommend a room with a sea view and Club benefits. We were lucky enough to have the assistance of Aof from the Butler team who made sure our stay at the hotel was perfect. (Nothing was too much trouble. ) We originally had booked a Club room for my husband and daughter and were given an upgrade. We loved every minute. It was very hot and this was meant to be Winter. The suspension bridge and walk to the beach was beautiful. The hotel buggy ride back from the beach great fun. Hope to go back.

This is for travel dates January 25-27 My travel partner and I got food poisoning at this place that lasted for a week. We don't exactly know what it was that gave us diarrhea, but it was definitely something we had at Intercon as we have only been eating either at Amber or Flames. I'm guessing it was either from the seafood dinner buffet we had at Flames (as the seafood did not really taste fresh) or from the breakfast buffet at Amber. We had diarrhea that lasted for a week -- totally ruined our vacation. I'm talking 10-15 toilet trips per day. When I told the staff about our problem, they basically just said "oh... Sorry to hear that". That's not a response I would expect from a 5 star hotel that costs $600 a night for a regular classic room. At least offer or comp something... Anything... Poorly trained staff to handle these kind of situations. The hotel itself is nice. Great views and great facilities. But with my bad experience, I'm giving this place 2 stars.
