The view from the pool is great but: there is no sun in that area after 2pm so forget about relaxing up there and also the water in 3 days I have been there was dirty clearly not clean procedures involved. The room was lovely apart the jacuzzi was dirty and didn’t work. I had to call someone to fix it which it took a while. I wasn’t expecting a free upgrade but I did mention 1 month in advance that was a special occasion and nothin was offered considering all the pool room were not even occupied. You could have tell from the main pool, probably just one or 2 pool access room were in use. Way too difficul to get down and up from Chaweng especially if you are over 50s Anyway..I think KC villa is overrated.

Nice resort with beautiful ocean views, we stayed in a over water villa and it was great. Rooms could use some upgrades price wise but still in decent shape. Food at restaurant was good and friendly staff!!! Would go back!!!

We stayed here for 2 nights and originally had booked a sea view room. The room we were given was so old and outdated that we immediately wanted to leave. It was on the first floor and had no view at all other than of the restaurant roof. The corridor and the room has an old foisty smell and clearly hasn’t had any money spent on it in a long time. The jacuzzi on the balcony was unusable it was so old and dirty with stains on. We didn’t want to sit in the room so went to the pool area. The Sunbeds are literally falling apart, it didn’t feel safe to sit on them as they are so frayed. We were on the verge of checking out and losing our money so I asked if I could see an over water villa and see what it was like. It was an additional 5,000 baht per night but it was in much better condition than the other rooms and must have been upgraded more recently. We decided to go ahead and save the hassle of moving to another hotel, but for what we paid in total it wasn’t worth it. You can get significantly better for cheaper elsewhere. Staff are hit and miss, some are really nice but some are really miserable and unhelpful. Had we went straight to the pool villa maybe would have given 4 stars but can’t give any more than a 3 due to the first room. The hotel seems to have deals with Chinese tour groups as there were constant bus loads being stopped off so maybe that’s what they focus on. We read reviews before hand about staff asking for TripAdvisor reviews in return for freebies. We didn’t experience this ourselves but did overhear it to other guests. Make of that what you will, to me it means they don’t have faith in their offering.

We decided to spend our first Christmas as Mr and Mrs in Koh Samui and picked this hotel as it was close the Chaweng beach and the reviews and pictures looked amazing! To start with the positives...yes the views from the hotel were amazing and location was good (about ten minutes walk from main area) and the staff friendly. There were many things that let the hotel down and I hope the management take these criticisms onboard in order to improve. The hotel is quite dated and in need or maintenance. In order to be classed as 5 star, the management team needs to pay more attention to detail. To start with when we arrived...the reception is located on top of some stairs, there’s no lift or even a ramp to drag the suitcases up to reception so my poor husband had to get them up the stairs on his own, no one came to help, not what you’d expect in a 5 hotel! They then told us that we can get a free Thai massage and lunch if we wrote a trip advisor review before we leave which I thought wasn’t very professional at all, if you’re confident in your hotel and service, you shouldn’t have to offer people stuff in order to write a review! I declined to do this as when I write a review about a hotel I review the whole experience from check in to check out and I doubt with some of the comments I have given in this review would make my review qualify for a free massage and lunch! Our room was quite small, the TV system was dated and we were only given two bath towels, no hand towels or flannels, no slippers and there was no mirror in the bedroom making it difficult to get ready. The view was amazing however. I wasn’t impressed with the cleaning of the room, we weren’t given fresh glasses when the old ones were used, toilet wasn’t cleaned properly and the floor was hardly even cleaned! There was one time when we came back from a day out to find the jacuzzi on the balcony hadn’t been cleaned so we rang reception to get someone to clean it and when house keeping came, she simply used a bath towel to clean it, no cleaning spray or anything! The breakfast area was a free for all, you weren’t allocated a seat and literally had to push your way through to one as often there wasn’t enough room in the small dining area for everyone. The selection was limited, they often ran out of stuff and didn’t cater for everyone’s needs like other 5 star hotels do (e.g gluten free, dairy free, vegan options etc) and fruit was left uncover where insects would be flying about. It may seem like I am being picky but to be a 5 star hotel, attention to detail is required! We actually booked to have a Christmas dinner in the restaurant. We did it prior to arriving so I asked the hotel to email us over the Christmas menu which was on various pieces of paper with food scribbled on them...so looks like something they just threw together. Although the food was delicious, there was no atmosphere in the restaurant, they didn’t even play Christmas music, they randomly had nursery rhymes on on repeat! And the restaurant literally only had us in and 4 other diners! It was great that they wanted to provide Christmas dinner but would’ve rather had gone somewhere else that had been planned properly rather than thrown together last minute! The pool area was lovely and bar staff by it were great. But again the bar area by the pool did look dated and in need of refurbishment. They had a shuttle to their sister hotel which was next to the beach but they aren’t very regular and taxis in Koh Samui are expensive in comparison to other places in Thailand. Unfortunately it was quite rainy when were there, so as lovely as it is to have the reception out door with a slight covering, waiting for and getting into taxi meant we always got soaked, hotel did provide umbrella which was handy. The toilets by reception were not good, dark and disgusting so avoid them at all cost. Checking out proved to be another headache...We rang for a caddy to help us get our luggage to reception at 11:30am, at 12 we get a phone call asking why we hadn’t checked out yet and were told we would have to pay to stay longer, when I explained we were waiting for the caddy which didn’t arrive until 12:20! They then tried charging us for a taxi which we had already paid cash for but eventually we managed to check out. All in all there was some good but unfortunately to claim to be a 5 star hotel there needs to be more attention to detail. We stayed in five different hotels in total during our time in Thailand, unfortunately this was by the far in comparison to the others, the worst. It would be fine if it claimed to be 3/4 star but definitely isn’t a 5 star hotel.
