Melati Beach Resort & Spa in Koh Samui, Thailand

With nearly 80 suites and villas fashioned after a Thai village - and over half of them boasting private plunge pools - the stunning Melati Beach Resort & Spa provides an exceptional retreat. Overlooking the cerulean waters of Thailand's Thongson Bay, and with a blanket of platinum sand tracing its coastal contours, this secluded sanctuary allows guests to be swathed in luxury from behind the doors of their luxe suites. Occasional bursts of color enliven calming neutral tones, and garden swings and outdoor tubs provide delightfully unexpected touches. The seemingly airbrushed quality of unobstructed bay views works to blur the line between reality and an Utopian paradise.

The lofty lobby conceals a terraced swimming pool and the beach beyond, where guests congregate beneath cloudless skies. There are two excellent restaurants, with one perfecting traditional Thai dishes and Asian specialties as the other prepares global cuisine from within an exhibition kitchen. You may also mix and mingle at one of two pool bars, or check out the lobby lounge to explore its wine cellar. If you are looking for total relaxation, indulge in a soothing spa treatment in one of the private spa villas. An herbal steam or body wrap will certainly leave you feeling incredibly supple and rejuvenated. The resort also has a library and reading area, but if you do not fancy yourself the bookish type - at least while on vacation - then engage in the vibrant club scene just minutes away. At Melati Beach Resort & Spa you can truly have it all - an incredibly relaxing experience and an invigorating turn on the dance floor.

This resort is amazing. The service, the food, the rooms, the gardens, pools (in the room as well) and beach were excellent!!! This definitely is a place to relax and enjoy the good life in paradise. There are also the little things like free DVDs, free (good old fashioned) games in the room, handmade sweets in the room in the evening and of course, good wi-fi. So why didn't I give Melati 5 stars? Because they are greedy! When you spend so much money (a fortune in Thai terms) on a room, you would expect an airport pickup (10 mins) and shuttle to the center (15 mins drive). They provide the service of course, but charge you for it. 800 THB to the airport for a trip that costs 280 by taxi and a shuttle to Chaweng for 400THB, the same as the taxi rate (I recommend the local Uber app called Navigo). Melati - do yourselves (and your guests) a favor and invest in a free shuttle service (since you are located far from anything within walking distance).

We stayed 5 nights. The first 3 nights in a pool villa (3 adults) then we were upgraded to a suite pool villa. Both villas are great and of course the suite one is more than great. Meals we had in the 2 restaurants were delicious - particularly the Thai set menu in the restaurant near the reception and the hawaïen pizza in the restaurant near the very big swimming pool. The nice beach is almost reserved to the hotel which was great because not like other crowded beaches of Koh Samui. Now let me tell you a secret : there is a hidden and virgin beach where you can feel like Robinson Crusoe...once in the beach of the Melati and facing the sea, go to the right hand, pass the small restaurant, follow the sea through the rocks then you will meet this paradise.

I stayed here with my family , 2 adults and 2 children aged 11 and 9. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and what I consider to be the most beautiful beach in the whole of Koh Samui. The beach is private and secluded, looks on to Koh Phangnan and the water is so beautiful in colour and temperature. I would recommend this hotel for couples but definitely not family friendly. When the children were playing in the pool, the staff repeatedly said they were too loud (even though they were just normal kids playing tig and laughing). I did tell the kids to calm down and to be fair they did, but the staff continued so pester them so I could never fully relax. I have stayed at a number of 5 star resorts and this is the rudest staff I have ever encountered. TIP: I do recommend going to the massage place as you go out the hotel on to the beach, go right. The women there are so lovely , much better massage than the hotel and considerably cheaper, the view out is just stunning and the ladies will accommodate any requests for special attention areas. Overall: beautiful hotel, stunning beach, good service but not recommended for families

Thank you for an amazing time to celebrate our 30th wedding Anniversary & both our birthdays. We could not have asked for a more relaxing & welcoming place to celebrate. I feel so delighted we chose your resort. The Sanctuary pool was fabulous & is for adults only & a plus it backed on to our room. Mind you it took us a while to find out were the telephone was to order service - pool was fabulous, relaxing & there was always sun beds available, unlike the main pool were people must get up very early to reserve sun beds. The buffet dinner at the Thai restaurant was delicious & plenty of food - this was my birthday & we were given the best table to watch the shows & then I was presented with a cake & everyone sang happy birthday. The romantic dinner by the beach for our Anniversary/husbands birthday was everything I wanted it to be, we were the only people on the beach & it was set up just perfect. The staff were attentive & Bond looked after us so well. The only downfall was there was far too much food for two people to eat & we left so much food. The food was divine, huge lobster, steak, rack of lamb, prawns, crab pasta, dory, risotto - and that was after entree & soup. This platter could have easy fed four people but thoroughly enjoyed it & I did prefer the more expensive menu out of the three. Breakfast there was enough to eat for my choice - and quick, attentive service. View bar staff wonderful & the service was excellent - special mention to Best who always remembered our names & Som (think you spell it like this) who organised everything for us so well. The Spa session was a perfect anniversary present & I choose a package that included steam, scrub, clay wrap, hot stone then oil massage & finally a facial - outstanding. The staff around the resort were so welcoming & polite, each stopping to say hello, in a friendly manner. Our room was perfect, suite with plunge pool which we used often. We found out after two days that you could buy bronze, silver & gold cards that you could use for food, spa etc - just wish I had known this at check in & would have purchased one then. Mind you we did save 4000 bart on buying the silver card then. All in all a fantastic place to stay & will return one day hopefully soon.

Second time we have stayed at the Melati Beach Resort and Spa. The location is World Class! Quality of service, food and facilities are outstanding. The private beach adds an element of class. Highly recommend for families or couples.
