Disappointing Stay – Beautiful Pictures, Terrible Service and No Refund We stayed at Melati Beach Resort & Spa in Koh Samui, Thailand, in early January 2026, and unfortunately had an extremely disappointing experience. From the moment we arrived, we realized that the room we had booked did not match the impression created by the photographs on the hotel's website. The published pictures suggested separate living areas and a significantly more spacious room layout. In reality, the accommodation was very different from what we had expected and what the photographs had led us to believe. In our opinion, the hotel photographs are heavily beautified and create a misleading impression of a luxurious resort that simply did not match our experience in reality. This was particularly problematic because we were traveling with our 1.5-year-old daughter. After a long international flight, it was extremely important for us to have a suitable sleeping arrangement for our toddler. When we raised the issue immediately upon arrival, we were repeatedly assured that someone would take care of it. However, despite waiting for several hours and asking for assistance multiple times, we were constantly put off without any satisfactory solution. Only when we finally announced that we intended to leave the hotel did the hotel manager suddenly appear, claiming that he had been completely unaware of the situation. By that point, we already felt that we had not been treated honestly or transparently. Unfortunately, there were also several serious problems with the room: • The entrance door did not close properly, which made us feel particularly unsafe while traveling with a small child. • The toilet did not flush reliably. • The shower was defective and did not function properly. • Only after several phone calls did someone finally come to inspect these problems. Although some of the technical issues were eventually resolved, our main concern – the accommodation not matching the room layout we had expected based on the photographs – remained completely unresolved. As we received no satisfactory assistance and felt neither taken seriously nor welcome, we eventually decided to leave the hotel at our own financial risk and find alternative accommodation. HOWEVER, THE MOST DISAPPOINTING PART CAME AFTER WE LEFT. A refund had been indicated as a possibility. It has now been approximately nine months since our stay in January 2026, and despite repeated attempts to contact the hotel, we have still not received any refund whatsoever. After our departure, the hotel simply stopped responding to our messages. No explanation. No apology. No refund. We have also contacted Booking.com repeatedly in an attempt to resolve the situation, but unfortunately, no satisfactory solution has been reached. We travel extensively and very rarely write negative reviews. However, in this case, we feel it is important to share our experience and warn other travelers. We were particularly disappointed by the lack of understanding and support shown to us as a family traveling with a very young child. Beautiful photographs cannot compensate for poor customer service, unresolved problems and a complete lack of communication after a complaint. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend Melati Beach Resort & Spa and would never choose to stay there again.

The hotel was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday! The grounds and rooms were well-maintained and clean. The service staff was always friendly and attentive. We will especially remember Min; his friendly and helpful manner made a very positive impression. Min's service was excellent.

I had the most beautiful time at Melati Resort. The people are incredibly friendly, and even though I was traveling alone, I felt right at home from the very beginning. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful – the beach, the gardens, the nature and the whole atmosphere make it such a peaceful place to relax and recharge. The food was also excellent, and I especially loved the special themed evenings. Each one was a wonderful experience and made my stay even more memorable. What made Melati truly special for me, though, were the people. The staff genuinely take their time to engage with their guests and make you feel welcome and cared for. I also made wonderful friendships with people from all over the world during my stay, and some of those friendships still continue today. There is something about this place that makes you want to come back again and again. I’m already looking forward to my next visit! I can wholeheartedly recommend Melati Resort to anyone looking for a quieter place by the beach, surrounded by beautiful nature, with delicious food, incredibly friendly people and a warm atmosphere where you can truly relax, recharge and feel at home.

My partner and I got married here a few weeks ago. It was an absolutely fantastic experience. I would definitely recommend considering the Melati hotel for your wedding. Air was the woman who planned our wedding for us. She was amazing. She greeted us at the airport and immediately got down to business to make sure that everything was ready in time, she made our day so beautiful and special. She listened to our requests and actioned them and she ensured that all of our needs were met. It really was a five star experience. She was our personal assistant for the whole time we were there. Alfredo was the celebrant. He was hilarious, he brought so much energy and laughter to the wedding. By doing so he made it feel very calm and relaxed at the same time. The makeup artist and hair Team were absolutely fantastic. So professional and did my bridal parties hair and make-up to a fantastic standard. I would definitely recommend having the trial before so that you can tell them what you want changing on the day. They were so brilliant with this and made me look exactly how I wanted to. We chose to have a garden wedding which was set up way better than I even imagined. We had the colourful flowers which were stunning. It was followed by canapés and cocktail reception. Despite the weather being terrible on our wedding day meaning that we couldn’t have a meal on the beach. The room that was set up instead was beautiful. We had a gentleman who sang for a few hours he was brilliant. All of the staff joined in singing and dancing. Everybody had a good time. The food on the wedding date was outstanding. A wedding cake was huge. The chef who did our wedding meal ensured that everybody’s dietary requirements were met and nobody felt left out or that they had to have something different. The service was phenomenal. We also had a fire show on the beach when it stopped raining. This was crazy and the absolute highlight of the day. The photographer was brilliant and took 2000 photos we have so many to put in our photo album. We are so grateful to the melati hotel for being a beautiful setting for our special day, we are thankful for the staff for making it amazing.

Setting, accommodation and staff are wonderful. All of the staff are so into their jobs. They are always smiling, cheerful and ready to serve. Special mention to Dome at the beachside bar for making great coffees and Fon for being fresh-faced, smiling and always fun. She makes every guest feel as though they have her special attention. The Thai buffet on Monday night was a standout. Don’t miss the authentic Thai green curry! I’d stay here again without hesitation.
