Melati Beach Resort & Spa in Koh Samui, Thailand

With nearly 80 suites and villas fashioned after a Thai village - and over half of them boasting private plunge pools - the stunning Melati Beach Resort & Spa provides an exceptional retreat. Overlooking the cerulean waters of Thailand's Thongson Bay, and with a blanket of platinum sand tracing its coastal contours, this secluded sanctuary allows guests to be swathed in luxury from behind the doors of their luxe suites. Occasional bursts of color enliven calming neutral tones, and garden swings and outdoor tubs provide delightfully unexpected touches. The seemingly airbrushed quality of unobstructed bay views works to blur the line between reality and an Utopian paradise.

The lofty lobby conceals a terraced swimming pool and the beach beyond, where guests congregate beneath cloudless skies. There are two excellent restaurants, with one perfecting traditional Thai dishes and Asian specialties as the other prepares global cuisine from within an exhibition kitchen. You may also mix and mingle at one of two pool bars, or check out the lobby lounge to explore its wine cellar. If you are looking for total relaxation, indulge in a soothing spa treatment in one of the private spa villas. An herbal steam or body wrap will certainly leave you feeling incredibly supple and rejuvenated. The resort also has a library and reading area, but if you do not fancy yourself the bookish type - at least while on vacation - then engage in the vibrant club scene just minutes away. At Melati Beach Resort & Spa you can truly have it all - an incredibly relaxing experience and an invigorating turn on the dance floor.

This hotel makes writing a review pleasurable. Rooms, Perfect, Good size and very clean. Everything you need from a room. Food in the hotel is incredible. Very very well cooked with loads of taste and good value. Pools are very clean, Big and not too deep making it very comfortable and safe. Beach is lovely with nice sand and shallow sea, Water sports are available giving you something extra if wanted. Staff are amazing. Always happy and smiling, They are a true credit to the hotel. I never came across one miserable staff member which is so refreshing. Special thanks to Kuson Kongthong ( Baw ) and Best, Rich and Tub for making our days around the pool so much fun, An absolute credit to the hotel they really made the best of efforts every day. So, The hotel is situated a little out the way of things making it quiet and very relaxed atmosphere which is so refreshing, The hotel is small and well kept so no big walks to the reception, beach or pool its just all very convenient. Main towns and fisherman villages are around ÂŁ6 taxi ride away ( 10 mins journey ) which opens up lots more things to do, There is no hassle on the streets which is refreshing and the taxis are really safe and do not try to rip you off. The local markets are really cool and at the food markets you can eat like a king for less than ÂŁ6 each including drinks. Well worth a try. There is a shop local to the hotel which is a 10 min walk and will have everything you need. The temples are well worth a visit and are also only a 10 min taxi ride away. For a nice meal out id recommend a place called Tree Tops dining in the sky. Expensive but amazing food and incredible views. All in all this hotel is incredible. The bad reviews on here have no reflection on anything we experienced at all. Full marks, 5 star, Perfect vacation.

This resort is absolutely amazing. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. The exhausting long flight was worth every second when we arrived. The check-in experience was 5 stars. We’re greeted with gorgeous flower bracelets and cold jasmine tea in the reception area. Once you stay there you will not want to go anywhere else! Our spa treatments were divine, I highly recommend them! The breakfast buffet was delicious - Thai foods, traditional food, pastries, yogurt, fresh fruits & juices, made to order items, etc. Both restaurants offer outdoor dining with beautiful views and the food was fantastic . We spent 8 nights in a beautiful private villa with excellent privacy. Everything is very clean and well kept. Special mention for the Concierge team and of course to lovely Sonya! She helped us a lot! We will be back for sure!

Absolutely loved our stay at the Melati in late August/early sept 17. The long flight time from Manchester was worth every second when we finally arrived at the resort to be greeted with flower garlands and ice cold jasmine tea in the beautiful reception area. We arrived before our room was ready (our flight got us in before check in) but we were whisked in a golf buggy to the pool restaurant so we could enjoy lunch. Our first view of the infinity pool and stunning white sand beach took our breath away and we looked forward to the beach views every morning at breakfast. We spent 14 nights in a family apartment with us our pool on a b&b basis. Our highlights: - fabulous breakfast buffet with the best views ever. Food was plentiful, great choice of local and western items. Eggs cooked to order, great coffee, special touches included a huge fresh honeycomb to get your honey from and tons of tropical fruit. - massages in the sala by the family pool.cheaper than in the spa and gorgeous to have the sea breeze whilst relaxing. We had one nearly every day. - the family pool was easy to get a bed by every day and had a huge shallow end for the kids to play in - loved bbq on the beach night. Fire show is spectacular and the food choice was excellent. - our room was cleaned every day and the turn down service with little treats and notes left about the weather were a lovely touch (as was the incredible carved watermelon that was there when we arrived!) - the tropical gardens with the streams are just gorgeous to walk through every day. - although there weren’t tons of activities for older children, the kids club was great and the team running it were lovely. It was a welcome relief from the heat for my 2 younger children every day. Our kids enjoyed a kickboxing lesson, parasol making , candle making and roasting marshmallows at the beach - the service. Couldn’t fault this through our stay. Everyone genuinely couldn’t do enough for us. When my daughter got a sunburned shoulder from a missed spot of suncream, the team noticed and brought out fresh pieces of aloe Vera that had been kept cold in the fridge to soothe it. The complimentary fruit kebabs in mid afternoon were a lovely touch too. - gym facilities with air con. Well equipped and well stocked with drinking water. - happy hour at the swim up bar. Amazing cocktails and juices. We had a brilliant time exploring koh Samui and ate out most nights. We found chaweng a little bright and brash for our taste but it does have a brilliant choice of shops and a very lively strip. We spent most our eves in fisherman’s village. Lots of excellent little restaurants and plenty of exploring to be done. It’s like a different place on Friday evenings when the night market is on. Unmissable for the street food and incredible range of stuff to buy. Our best day trip was a snorkelling day out by motorboat to koh tao/koh nang yuan. Very accessible for the kids as you walk in from the beach and the coral is only a few metres out. We saw clown fish, parrot fish , tangs and tons of other marine life. I would highly recommend the melati for families with primary school aged children. We hope to return soon for another fabulous stay.

This was our second stay having been there two years ago. We were not disappointed. We had a beautiful room within easy walking distance to beach and pools as well as all the dining areas. Staff were very happy to see us back and were warm and friendly. Breakfast was the highlight of the day - we felt the barbecues were. It to the best standard but that didn’t detract from the amazing night. It’s everything you would want from a smaller resort including an adults only sanctuary pool. Second visit as good as the first.
