Melati Beach Resort & Spa in Koh Samui, Thailand

With nearly 80 suites and villas fashioned after a Thai village - and over half of them boasting private plunge pools - the stunning Melati Beach Resort & Spa provides an exceptional retreat. Overlooking the cerulean waters of Thailand's Thongson Bay, and with a blanket of platinum sand tracing its coastal contours, this secluded sanctuary allows guests to be swathed in luxury from behind the doors of their luxe suites. Occasional bursts of color enliven calming neutral tones, and garden swings and outdoor tubs provide delightfully unexpected touches. The seemingly airbrushed quality of unobstructed bay views works to blur the line between reality and an Utopian paradise.

The lofty lobby conceals a terraced swimming pool and the beach beyond, where guests congregate beneath cloudless skies. There are two excellent restaurants, with one perfecting traditional Thai dishes and Asian specialties as the other prepares global cuisine from within an exhibition kitchen. You may also mix and mingle at one of two pool bars, or check out the lobby lounge to explore its wine cellar. If you are looking for total relaxation, indulge in a soothing spa treatment in one of the private spa villas. An herbal steam or body wrap will certainly leave you feeling incredibly supple and rejuvenated. The resort also has a library and reading area, but if you do not fancy yourself the bookish type - at least while on vacation - then engage in the vibrant club scene just minutes away. At Melati Beach Resort & Spa you can truly have it all - an incredibly relaxing experience and an invigorating turn on the dance floor.

Check in was efficient and welcoming, initial issue with connecting room was accommodated by assuring us no guests would be placed in the adjoining room. However this was not the case on the fourth night as they were at capacity occupancy, this resulted in moving to another room which was the pool villa, this is recommended if you want peace and relaxation without interruptions, additionally the villa was adjacent to the desirable adult only sanctuary pool. The room was slightly worn in places but not an issue. The staff throughout the resort were attentive and polite, except for the front desk at the spa. The facilities are of a good standard and the beach is superb however we could not use it as the weather was too windy. Particular mention for all the staff at reception, Anna, Leornado (forgive us as we don’t recall all the names) and the restaurant staff at the view restaurant (Alexis - head chef....thank you for looking after our dietary needs and for your hospitality that was mirrored by all the restaurant staff) We would highly recommend the hotel and definitely will return to experience the good service, well manicured grounds, stunning villa, facilities and secluded beach.

We stayed in Melati for a week after Christmas until 1.1.18. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay. The rooms are amazing (we took a 200 sqm family pool villa) and are serviced several times a day to make sure you are pampered, and the quality of everything is the best - sheets, bathroom, games for kids etc. The overall service is perfect. Everybody is so nice and will help above and above their duty while smiling. We had a 4 year old that was treated as a prince by the whole staff. The food was good (and nice room service), good spa and we enjoyed the activities in the hotel (thai box, water polo, kids club). It was all so great, and it did not feel crowded or noisy at all. My son will surely miss the amazing and super patient Pich, which we thank so much....we definitely recommend the hotel.

We (parents with toddler, two teenager and grandparents) stayed for almost one week at the Melati. Unfortunately the weather was cold so we weren’t able to use the beautiful pool and beach. Beside the pool and beach there is not much to do in the resort. We couldn’t use the more sheltered adults only pool with our children, the so-called kids club is a small room with a friend staff member, but old toys and due to the resort‘s relatively remote location we had to take taxis everywhere and they are quite expansive (at least 500 baht for 7 to the fisherman’s village). A big plus are the rooms - they are beautiful and taken care of impeccably. However, there is no concierge and the organization of activities is taken care of by the the front desk staff. We felt that this was not their priority, so be advised to organize everything on your own. Absolutely everywhere you are engulfed in the scent of jasmine - important to know if you are sensitive to intense smells. Our thanks to Peach, Noni, the housekeeping staff and Chef Alexis who were outstanding.
