Melati Beach Resort & Spa in Koh Samui, Thailand

With nearly 80 suites and villas fashioned after a Thai village - and over half of them boasting private plunge pools - the stunning Melati Beach Resort & Spa provides an exceptional retreat. Overlooking the cerulean waters of Thailand's Thongson Bay, and with a blanket of platinum sand tracing its coastal contours, this secluded sanctuary allows guests to be swathed in luxury from behind the doors of their luxe suites. Occasional bursts of color enliven calming neutral tones, and garden swings and outdoor tubs provide delightfully unexpected touches. The seemingly airbrushed quality of unobstructed bay views works to blur the line between reality and an Utopian paradise.

The lofty lobby conceals a terraced swimming pool and the beach beyond, where guests congregate beneath cloudless skies. There are two excellent restaurants, with one perfecting traditional Thai dishes and Asian specialties as the other prepares global cuisine from within an exhibition kitchen. You may also mix and mingle at one of two pool bars, or check out the lobby lounge to explore its wine cellar. If you are looking for total relaxation, indulge in a soothing spa treatment in one of the private spa villas. An herbal steam or body wrap will certainly leave you feeling incredibly supple and rejuvenated. The resort also has a library and reading area, but if you do not fancy yourself the bookish type - at least while on vacation - then engage in the vibrant club scene just minutes away. At Melati Beach Resort & Spa you can truly have it all - an incredibly relaxing experience and an invigorating turn on the dance floor.

If you’re looking for luxury and complete sanctuary, look no further. We’ve been here for 10nights and we really don’t want to go tomorrow. We are however, going to rebook again for next year. This place is not only one of the most beautiful resorts we’ve ever stayed in, but the staff are like family. They genuinely cannot do enough for you. The room: We booked a pool villa suite. It was completely wonderful. It literally had everything provided. Let me list just a few of the things they provide in the room for you, so you know what not to bother packing: Beach bag & towels Shampoo & conditioner Shower gels Daily refresh of new razor & shaving cream. Daily refresh of new toothbrush and toothpaste & bathroom amenities. Flip flops Slippers Robes DVD players in the bedroom AND in the lounge (you can borrow dvds from the lobby for free). There’s too much to mention. But trust me, it’s amazing. Our private pool was always lovely and warm and even had 2 jacuzzi spa jets. It was really quite a lot larger than we expected too! I never want to leave this room and will request it again next year. Villa 501. Food: Everything is just wonderful. We even had the private beach dinner for my birthday one evening which was just magical. The Thursday night beach BBQ is so lovely. First of all the food - amazing. Breakfast has absolutely everything you can think of. But then you had a duo (AJ Duo) singing throughout the evening whom are so genuinely amazing, and they covered everything from Michael Jackson to Simon & Garfunkel. Then there was the unbelievable fire display with 4 young guys on the beach front. You have to see it to believe it. The main pool and serenity pool are absolutely beautiful, and you are right on the beach. We had breakfast right in front of the water every morning. The staff - the team are right at the heart of this place’s success. Let me name some of the staff that made our experience absolutely perfect: Bow, Rich & Tup at the pool bar, are the kindest and warmest most helpful staff we’ve ever come across. Sonia & June have everything so well organised and can help you with anything you can think of. The Spa - if you do one thing whilst you’re here, MAKE SURE YOU GET A TREATMENT!!! The Spa girls are amazing. My boyfriend and I had a treatment every other day in the same room together, and it was perfect. We over did it in the sun on our first day, so we had the After Sun Package - make sure you do that one if you’re sunburnt! I’ve so many wonderful things to say, I’d be here all night, but trust me, if you want heaven on earth, look no further. My partner and I would like to say the biggest thank you to all the melati team for looking after us and giving us the best holiday ever. You made my birthday so special with my surprise cake and message written in petals on my bed when I came home that night to my villa. You are all amazing. Thank you, and we will see you next year. X

We stayed at the beautiful Melati Beach Resort and Spa for 2 nights at the end of our 2 week Thailand vacation. Had this been our first stop, I’m not sure we would have left! This is a world-class resort that exceeds expectations on all points: service, comfort, atmosphere, cuisine, and amenities. The first impression is a lasting one: teak wood, plumaria trees, and the most gracious and welcoming reception staff we have encountered in a long time. (Thank you, Anna!!). An immediate sense of calm and relaxation continues and builds as you walk the gorgeously manicured, orchid-laded grounds. Both pools were amazing: something for everyone. The infinity pool (with pool bar that hosts happy hour twice daily) has lovely views of the neighboring islands, along with plenty of lounge chairs, umbrellas, and fresh towels. (Thank you to Best!!) The “adults only” pool was the perfect place to zen-out after a Thai massage. The breakfast buffet was top-notch, offering plentiful Asian and Western options (and a sea view). The open air yoga class was wonderful. And the rooms? Comfort taken to the next level. Luxuriously soft sheets and beds that you would want to stay in all day. Do spring for the upgrade. There is nothing like having your own plunge pool to wake up to in the morning or enjoy a night cap in before bed. The beach at this resort has beautiful white sand. It’s shallow for quite a bit making it perfect for wading or swimming. Plenty of chaise lounges, umbrellas, and tables for the fruity drinks. Finally, you will be hard-pressed to find a more welcoming, friendlier staff anywhere. And I mean the ENTIRE staff: the reception, pool attendants, gardeners, chefs, maintenance staff...EVERYONE. The staff at this resort are true gems, and the reason we’ll be back next year.

Have just finished up a great stay at Melati. We stayed in the Family Pool Villa which was perfect for our family of five. Highly recommend Melati. Weather was questionable the first few days, but this was no concern as the food, accomodation was first class.

Arrived 5th Feb after a long flight from London were greeted by pleasant staff and a welcome drink. Travelled with my husband two daughters two grandchildren and daughters partner. We had deluxe rooms which were large airey and kept super clean during our 14 night stay. Breakfast was delicious with something for all tastes and the staff were always welcoming and pleasant. We ate in both hotel resturants and also went to the Thai boxing night. Food was delicious in both resturants prices were higher than a local outside resturant but we were happy to pay as we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and service. We spent most days at pool/beach and we must mention Baw Tub Rich and Best who kept us entertained but were always proffesional and nothing was to much trouble for them A big thank you to Pek and Nat in kids club who kept my grandchildren entertained making pizza collecting coconuts candle making and cooking marshmallows on the beach. Also a big thank you to reception who tracked down a bag I had left on plane but didn't realise until a few days into our stay. Gardens also kept beautiful and it was a pleasure to walk through them. My daughters and I made great use of both the spa and the poolside massages. All staff friendly and professional. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel it was absolute heaven I wish we could have stayed longer.

We had to pay for the entire stay on arrival, which was a bit off-putting, but our room was wonderful, big, beautiful and comfortable with privacy and a private plunge pool. Grounds are meticulously maintained, staff were incredible, especially Sonia, the 'Dream Maker' who was super friendly, knowledgeable and helped us alot with excellent suggestions for things to do. Housekeeping was excellent, with thoughtful touches every night on turndown service. The Breakfast staff at the beachside restaurant were fantastic and the Pool staff guys were also excellent. Had a very relaxing 10 day stay here and would definitely return again. Make sure you get the breakfast included option! The restaurants are excellent, but pricey. Cocktails are laughably weak and overpriced. You can walk to convenience stores outside the compound for sunscreen and snacks, beer, etc. There is a restaurant next door (on the beach) if you want some variety. The Melati is between Bophut (quieter small town) and Chaweng (very busy and loud). Cheong Mon is a town very close to the hotel where they also have some great restaurants. Loved everything! Taxi's can be a problem, but they do have NaviGo, which is like Uber. The hotel does offer taxis at a reasonable price.
