We spent 4 nights here in a Garden Pool Villa. Great room with decent size private pool. Room big and comfortable but in need of a little updating. Lovely staff throughout who attended to every need. The Thai people really are a delight and hotel staff here and at our other stays were so charming and respectful - what a contrast to some other Countries. There were a lot of people staying here from a Country not very far away, as with everywhere we visited in Thailand, they are not always very courteous.and can be quite rude... Housekeeping a bit hit and miss, turn down service sometimes, a reminder to clean our room necessary one day. The Spa was very nice we both enjoyed good massages. Deck and pool area was quite private which was perfect for us as the Beach was not somewhere we wanted to be. Tons of rubbish washed up on every tide, the beach littered with plastic bottles, light bulbs, fishing debris, even oil drums. Not the Hotels fault and they did attempt to clear it each day but so shocking to see this every day. I did attempt to swim once but found the rocks and shallow water to hard to navigate through even with shoes on. The restaurants are pretty good, nice breakfasts and plenty of meal choices in the evening. We ate in 3 nights because we couldn't be bothered with taxis in to Chaweng or Fishermans Village. We managed to keep our room until 18:00 for a further charge of 2000 baht (£50). There were some folks with children here, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it for families. Ideal for a few nights staying put, but with a proper pool rather than a plunge. If you want a beach holiday do not go here, if you want to be near shops/bars/restaurants etc this is not for you. We enjoyed our stay but wouldn't go back.

One of worst experience in this Thailand tour. The resort is not good enough to be termed as resort. Poor facilities at room, joke in the name of Jacuzzi, average swimming pool and dirty private beach. No life guards at Private beach plus shoddy facilities for water sports. The restaurant is below par. I spent 2 days and paid whopping 22,000 Baht. Its better to get a novotel or ibis at 2000 baht at chaweng than staying at over rated place. Regards Puneet Singh Thakur

This resort really offer a good value for money. There some things that really go beyond guest expectatios but some others need a Little improvement in order to achieve an outstanding experience. I will try to summarize what really impressed me and what needs improvement: IMPRESSED 1. The relaxing and quite enviroment: This is a very small hotel, with only 52 romos (all of the villas with own pool). This makes this resort more suitable for couples or people looking for relax and a quite ambience which I have really enjoyed. There were some families with children, but not really disturbing at all. The beach is only used by hotel guests and this also creates a very quite and silent ambience in the beach. We really enjoyed it, because this was what we were looking for. Of course if you are looking for a more family/children focused resort or big full of people resorts, then this is not your place. 2. Breakfast: The concept of buffet breakfast was quite new for me. There is a small buffet where you can have the basic breakfast stuff, all with high quality and there is also a menú where you can choose 2 dishes free of charge additional to this buffet. This menú is really nice, offering a good assortment of dishhes they will prepare for you immediately. And, belive me, we were impressed by the quality and presentation of these "à la carte dishes". Really ejoyable. I have attached some pictures. I have to mentioned also that the place where you can have your breakfast is really nice, just 20 metres away from the sea ... So the breakfast experience was outstanding. 3. Villas: they have several types of villas with own pool. The villas differ in size and view; some of them have no views, other sea view and the best are just in front of the beach. Although we had paid for the sea view villa, we were upgraded to the beach villa, which was really amazing. We can say that we had direct Access to the beach and this was really nice. The villa was very spacious and with all kind of amenities. Just to mention only one, there was an iPod with very relaxing music that you can use and change. 4. Location: We found location of this resort really perfect, as it is located on a very quiet area just near Chaweng. So if you are looking for a relaxing time but you want to visit some more busy and party area at night, you can take a taxi to Chaweng Beach, which is only 10 minutes away and it will cost you only 300 THB. IMPROVEMENT 1. Cleaning: The resort is very cleaned all in all, but there are some parts of it that will need to be improved. The day we arrvied one the 3 pools were not very clean, as you could see rests of some kind of sustance in the wáter (I asume it was sun cream). This remained the following day and it was not until the 3rd day that it was cleaned and we were more confident to use the pool. Also the cleaning in some common areas such as the bathrooms near the pool should be improved. Cleaning on private villa was good. 2. Housekeeping: staff in charge of housekeeping were very friendly and polite, but not very efficient ... It seemed to us that they were in a hurry everytime they wer doing the room and also the cover service in the afternoon. For example, they forgot to provide bath gel several times and we had to ask for it. They also forgot to replace used towels in two occassions ... The covering service in the afternoon was not very efficient as it was only limited to close the curtains. We realized after 3 days in the villa that we had a device to light in order to avoid mosquitos but it was never activated by the houskeeping staff. I thinks this was something that shoudl have been done by them, or at least advice us that it was available just in case we wanted to use it. 3. Beach: Assumming that a beach is something that depends on "mother nature", there are some things that the hotel management can do to improve its conditions. The beach is really nice but, it is quite dirty in the mornings with all kind of things thrown away to the sea by unpolite tourists that finally end up in the shores ... It is only in the afternoon that the hotel sends some staff to clean it so the beach has a much better appearence in the afternoon that in the morning. Of course this problem would be solved if we start to keep conscious that we should not throw away bottles, cans and any other stuff during our trips to the nearby islands that finnally end up in the shores. Thailand shores are too pretty and we should not spoil them with rubbish. By the way, I have read several comments about the beach at this hotel, regarding if it can be used or not for swimming. We have used the beach everyday and we really enjoyed it swimming. It is posible as long as you are a Little bit cautious regarding the rocks and if you wear proper shoes. Ifyou don't have these kind of shoes, the hotel can provide them to you. But believe me that the beach is suitable for swimming, and really enjoyful. 3. Transfer to Chaweng: The hotel offer 2 daily free transport services to Chaweng área, but the Schedule is not very convenient, so I think this should also be improved. Anyway, if you go out of the hotel you will find the house and office of a very friendly thai family that can offer all kind of services to you, such us tours and taxi service. The price for a ride to Chaweng is 300 THB, also 300 THB to the airport and 400 THB to Fisherman Village. All in all, we had a really enjoyable time at Outrigger hotel. There are things to be improved in order to make it an outstanding experience, but we were very happy to have chosen this hotel.

At Outrigger Koh Samui you definitely get what you pay for. It is a very relaxed and beautiful hotel. We had a pool suite and it was a very spacious little house. Beautiful bathroom with a huge mirror and a lovely shower. Very nice smell of a lemongrass candle in the room. Nice veranda with an own little swimming pool. It is not big enough to swim, but for a little cool down in the evening it's great. There are many plants and trees around the hotel so be aware of mosquitos and other animals. Also very loud birds in the morning can disturb your sleep. Breakfast and pool area are amazing! You can sit on a platform overlooking the ocean. Very beautiful! The staff is very friendly, attentive and helpful. The hotel is some kilometers north of Chaweng beach so not within walking distance. However, the hotel provides a shuttle to and from Chaweng beach two times a day.
